I'm not a horror guy but I'm so glad I watched this movie without ever seeing a trailer or ad. All the lore was so unexpected and everything was a surprise.
i went in to this movie expecting like the Exorcist, Conjuring and such. But i got a movie like Constantine/Legion which was even more awesome! Really hope we get more movies like this!

There is something I don't understand. The Spanish Inquisition monk - friar de Ojeda is possessed in 1475 in the monastery. Then under the demonic influence he goes on to inspire the creation of Spanish Inquisition and does that for years. Yet in the end he is still in the cave under the monastery. Did he get back there on his own? Was he returned there to be contained? Someone explain please?
yea i think when the church found out, he must have been forced into that cave and sealed away. Gabriele did say that the church did find out about the possession after the spanish inquisition, so they must have immediately gotten to work on defeating this evil, but after they realized it was hopeless, they sealed him away.

They most certainly can. I’m assuming you’re of the Christian faith and to deny that demons can possess people would deny what took place in the New Testament. Jesus exorcised multiple demons from individuals such as Mary Magdalene. Exorcisms still take place in almost all denominations of Christianity. They are just extremely rare and have to be verified by ordained members of a church to separate the mentally ill from the truly demonically possessed.

Great story. However, I hate the "The exorcist" type of heavy makeup and boogeyman voice of the possessed. I'd prefer a more realistic, subtle presentation. It would have been terrifying. That's why I liked the exorcism of Emily Rose.
