"The Ultimate Natural Enemy / Breaking the Seal"
Asta and Yuno are saved by Nozel who wants revenge against Patry for destroying Fuegoleon's arm. Nozel easily uses the reflective surface of his mercury to deflect Patry's light magic and traps him. Nozel informs Asta he plans on becoming his rival to become Wizard King. Rhya almost dies until he is saved by Mimosa, though this only annoys him. Nozel plans to execute Patry until Yuno points out Patry is possessing Captain Vangeance's human body. Asta tries to nullify the possession and is instead sucked into Patry's memories, where he learns about the death of the Wizard King. Asta reaches the real Patry, and despite hating him for killing the Wizard King, he berates him for giving up on himself, even though Asta hasn't yet given up on the elves. Patry realizes Asta is just like Lumiere and lets go of his hate, turning from a dark elf into his normal self, promising to return Vangeance after the devil is defeated. As Zagred tries to escape he is confronted by Licht with his Demon Dweller sword, but Licht is overwhelmed and is saved by Charla, possessing Captain Charlotte's body. Yami arrives and teams up with them to fight the devil who is surprised a human so easily cooperates with elves. Elsewhere Finral is woken up by Nero who demands to be taken to the bones of the dead demon, revealing that she can speak.
Zagred summons a shapeless mass of magic. Finral teleports Nero to the bones and removes the magic stones from Patry's stone tablet and places them in the First Wizard King's statue atop the skull, causing the statue to crack. The mass proves capable of draining magic and life force from its victims, and Zagred plans to unleash it on the world. While saving Rhya and Mimosa, Asta is swallowed by the mass, only to discover his anti-magic makes him immune. Nozel orders Asta, Yuno and Patry to assist Yami while he takes Mimosa elsewhere. As the statue crumbles it transforms back into the first Wizard King, Lumiere Silvamilllion Clover, while Nero also transforms into her original self, Secre Swallowtail. Lumiere and Secre instantly travel into the Shadow Palace. Secre has a flashback to 500 years ago when she was Lumiere's servant. He would spend his time creating magic tools and promoting the idea of a more equal society. But on the day of his sister's wedding to Licht he was captured by the devil who manipulated his family into murdering the elves. Lumiere escaped but was too late to prevent the massacre and Zagred succeeded in creating the original 5 leaf Grimoire that would one day belong to Asta. He then tried to possess Licht but Licht used forbidden magic and transformed himself into the giant demon before asking Lumiere to kill him.
It is painful when your favorite Black Clover girl is Nero/Secré and you have to wait through 117 episodes to tell somebody about it.

This end part of the Elf Arc never fails to send me chills. Yuki Tabata was so genius for setting this all up since the beginning and the way the plot twists unfolded were untouchable. Can't wait for you to dive into the Spade Arc.

One of the biggest hints giving concerning the Demon was Licht is in episode 2 when Sister Lily was reading the book to Asta and Yuno, you see the Demon actually crying.
The biggest hint is literally the witch queen telling us everything under our nose
Lumiere and Licht both mean Light
And I love Asta's VA's voice acting when he was knocking senses into Patri. It was so full of emotions I still get goosebumps.

I get chills every time when Licht turns in the ancient demon. The music really complemented the twist and transformation.
The best bit of it is when asta goes to undo it and the corruption of Patry's memories and like the music "glitching" out as the devil flashes across the screen. Like that's some pretty good nightmare fuel
And so it all comes full circle. Tabata is a fecking madlad for how well this story was crafted.
Also, can we all agree that the best girl in the series is a bird with door powers? XD
It's a shame most animation fails to show just how shiny and reflective mercury actually is. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOO!!! So many reactors just plain MISS that post credit scene and after all the questions and theories they throw out it just really drives me nuts when I cant see how they react... especially since it totally flipped my lid when I saw it.
Royal families sitting on the throne usually seem to have the name of the kingdom as part of their own name, at least in manga that is. The difference between Demon and Devil (at least in the west) is a bit complicated. For Japan it prolly has to do with different Kanji while being the same word (Akuma, I think) or something like that.
Nearly the last thing, Mr. Darius... congratulations. I think you are the first person I've seen figure out Licht was the Demon God (what that thing is called in the manga) BEFORE the transformation occurred.
Fun Fact: while Licht is German for light Lumiere is French for light.
I liked how Nozel effectively acknowledge both Asta and Yuno by saying I will become Wizard King. He sees them as worthy opponents to fight for that title.
So, basically a demon is an elf or a human, turned into a monster by a certain spell with the Underworld mana. Like the thing rampaging the kingdom in the intro.
The Devils are malevolent beings, dwelling the underworld. They are intellegent, unlike demons, and follow a heirarchy. There are Lesser, Middle, Higher and Supreme devils. This one (Zagred) is a Higher Devil.
Lumiere!! He's one of my favorite characters. He's honestly just a great person overall. Licht and Lumiere's friendship is so tragic. Lumiere had to kill him :((
Imagine, you have only watched 20 episodes of black clover and now someone is telling you:
