Woah- that is weird that you made that comment here- I just had same realization while watching this. Must be the constant string of that part of his singing. So they had heavily distorted guitar AND vocal. Grunge anyone? 🤔🤔 Love you Kurt 💔
Chino Moreno, Matt Bellamy (1999-2006 eras), Sam Carter, Conor Mason, Mike Kerr, Corey Taylor, Jeff Buckley. Kurt was in no ways a bad singer, but a lot of vocalists outclass him on the simple grounds that they trained themselves. Kurts range was incredible, as was his vocal gain. The notes he hit in the led belly song at the end are the same notes the highest notes from 'man in the box'. That's enough proof he is on par with Layne as the best grunge singers.
@@cahaloregan4733 The high note is an A#4 with the chest/mixed voice. It's not a high not to hit if you use your head voice but for a guy to sing that with the chest voice is skillful
@@shunedits6155 He wasn't the most controlled singer, especially in his upper range. That was the beauty of Kurt, though. He didn't care whether he was hitting the right notes, what mattered is that he got the point across
I always felt kurt accidentally slipped up on plateau and showed he had a nice soft voice as well. Then on the next chorus he when he says birds he roughens It up.
Where is school? When they performed school live when Kurt said “your in highschool again” that was probably one of the most clean but raspy and just rlly cool scream I’ve heard from him

Kurt had a beautiful tone of voice and character but from vocal prospective, he had no control of his vocal chorus. Pushing chest compress high notes foward all of his songs they would had left him voiceless if he had been alive today . You can listen very clear what I'm talking about in all the clip of this videos.
@@Aphex_KidWhat you say doesn't diminish by any means the sheer beauty of his voice. His voice would have been absolutely trashed by now if he was still hanging there with us it's very true, but it participates imo in its beauty. There's an element of sacrifice in singing that way that makes it absolutely unique and that fits perfectly with what he embodied which is the absolute dread of growing up in our shallow mercantile world.
