(Birth vlog tagged under my name in this short!) It’s because your ✨uterus✨ hasn’t gone back down yet 😘 Obviously this is a joke and I know better since I just gave birth to my 6th kid BUT growing up I had NO idea! I thought your belly would deflate like a balloon as baby exited the body 😂. I never thought about the uterus needing time to go back down. Of course everyone is different but having a pregnant looking belly the weeks following birth is normal for most of us. So why isn’t it normalized in our society? Why do we feel the need to make it look like we didn’t just have a baby and hide any signs of postpartum? Why aren’t postpartum bellies normalized despite it being very much part of the normal process? It’s strange really. Like we are ashamed it’s not flat despite it being completely out of our control. Just some food for thought. I am now thinking of wearing my postpartum belly more proudly in the coming days ❤️❤️ (Also for anyone who thinks I filmed this while still pregnant, you can see my husband holding the baby at the bottom right hand corner in the beginning of this video. This was also taken in the postpartum room not an L&D Room 😉)
Thanks Chrissy! I‘m 11 weeks postpartum and SO self-conscious about my belly. I have no abs whatsoever so my guts are just kinda… hanging out?? Yet I feel the pressure to look just like I did before pregnancy. Plus my body gets so tired from carrying my baby and babywearing that at the end of the day I look pregnant again. People just talk about diastasis recti or the pelvic floor weakening but never about weak abs.
I love this. The joyful sounding comment and the not-giving-up attitude. I've never been pregnant but 2 women most close to me had completely different post-partum experience. My mom was a tiny 5 ft, skinny woman that when she's pregnant she really looked like a b. After birth, she did have extended belly for a few weeks (or months?) but she's wearing belly strap - the same thing worn by newborn to protect their bellybutton until it's ready to come off but of course adult size. My friend, also a short woman, shorter than my mom, but she's chunky. After birth, within 2 days, she's lost all her chunkiness, even her cheeks that used to be plump. She looked 'taller' because she's much slimmer.
Remember: celebrity moms look that good because it's the job of a bunch of people to keep them looking good. They don't have to get up at 2am to do anything except pee.
Not sure if I am getting grouped into this or you are just making a general statement on my page but I don’t have a night nurse. I exclusively breastfeed so I am up every hour of the night. It’s a two man show in our house between my husband and I. No outside help. I am a very normal mom who took 10 minutes to do my make up for pictures while my husband held the baby 🤗❤️
@@chrissyhorton you need to make your husband pitch in and get up sometimes and feed that baby. You have 5 other kids that you need to be rested up for. I don't understand how they can knock us up and just lay there and put the pillow over their head when the babies wailing it's head off at night.
@@chrissyhorton I think OP might actually be directing this reminder towards you (and the general public). As in telling you to remember you can’t look at celebs as a measuring stick for what you should look like after birth. I don’t think she means you are the celeb who has everything done for her. I believe it was meant to be a friendly/loving reminder towards you (and others reading). - I guess OP didn’t see the part in your comment that it’s a joke and that you’re on your 6th child 😅
Hmmm... I would fit in them... Mostly because i was using the same pants before pregnancy and during pregnancy (at least most of them) 🙈 worse with t-shirts but i took dress to hospital.
It's so weird. But it was the opposite for me. As soon as I had my babies I had a flat stomach walking out the hospital. Then my belly slowly got bigger as the weeks went by. I was so confused.
It's nice to see this side too! I'm also an immediate shrink back mom and everyone will tell you how great you look but you still feel like jello lol and it can be frustrating when people assume you must feel normal even though you don't
I had triplets. I slayed pregnancy, worked til 2 days before, had them naturally, all of us went home at 24 hrs, babies all weighed 6 lb + each, 37 wks gestation. I was feeling pretty proud, so 3 days after birth, I went to get items at grocery store. Yea, my belly wasn’t flat. I did look lighter, though. Some stranger came up to me, poked my belly and said, “ damn, you’re gonna pop!” I was mortified. A lady asked me when I was due. I shouted loud enough for everyone to hear: “ you’re lucky I’m a tough gal, poking my belly that way, mister. I guess ignorance really is bliss… for your information I had 3 babies less than 3 days ago- what’s your superpower?” The shoppers all erupted in applause. I was still mortified- mad, but mortified. ❤
@queentrinicorn9441 Just that after my 3rd child, my body never even attempted to go back to any kind of normal, and I just had my 5th baby. Things may never be normal.
THANK YOU for normalizing this!!! As a fellow Catholic mama of multiples who also suffers from Extreme Diastasis Recti… I feel ALL YOUR PAINNNNN… figurative And literal 😅🙏🏽 praying an Ave for a Peace-filled PP journey!! 🙏🏽
Congratulations on baby #6! ❤I’ve been watching your videos and have found such comfort in them. I just had my husband and i’s first baby girl in June and I watched so many of your videos during my pregnancy. It was a dark time and watching you talk about all things motherhood and marriage and just life brought a lot of comfort.
After your sixth? Or your first? Mine was like that after 1 and 2... then it wasn't as fast 😅 baby number 5 took 9 months to get back to pre baby weight
Same. It definitely wasn’t firm and round anymore. It became squishy and jiggly almost immediately. Swollen for sure but definitely not round and firm like a preggo belly.
I looked pregnant leaving the hospital after having my baby. It was back in 1987 and they used to keep you there for a week after a normal delivery. I was super unimpressed to put my maternity clothes back on to leave. So I feel ya! 😂
I really think its up to the woman and her body. Each pregnancy is different because each body is different. Hence some woman can go back fo their pre-pregnancy shape within few months, my friend got back on her shape just after 8-9 months while other got even more rounder. So, it really boils down to your body No matter what, your body did a beautiful job at sustaining a life inside, and tool great pain and effort to welcom that life into this world, pleaee love your body and be proud of it! Its no simple feat at all! Don't listen to what others say, you are beautiful regardless!❤❤❤❤
Watching your long video on the birth made me reminisce last year when I gave birth to my baby girl. It was so emotional and beautiful I actually miss that feeling 😄
Yes sister, work that mama armour with pride! You got a whole little human, a universe out of you! What a Queen! Shout out to all the mothers because they are the Queens of this world.
4 months postpartum and still waiting for tummy to shrink😅 feel like I’ll never have my old body back but can’t believe the beautiful human my pregnant body created !❤
😂 I'm 6 months postpartum with my 5th baby. I still look about 6 months pregnant 🤷🏻♀️ My husband says he can't tell and I'm beautiful, and I should stop being so critical of myself, but it's just an observation. It takes time. The more babies you have, the longer it takes.
Wow you didn't go down at All yet! It'll go down in a couple months. Don't worry I thought it'd just go right back down too. It's normal you will get past this.. God bless praying for your fast recovery.
I took pictures almost every month of my postpartum body .. it’s insane watching how many months it took to go back .. the last part I got back was my waste line took 18 months ..
Sometimes there's another baby in there. My grand aunt gave birth and gave birth again after 3 months. The other baby was smaller and hiding behind his big bro Funny enough she isn't the only person in our family to have experienced this 😂
I had a c section so two days after my son was born I was walking the halls of the hospital with my IV pole when a mother and her daughter passed me and the daughter said “look mommy that lady is going to have a baby”, my PPD had kicked in by then and I turned around and sneered “I had a baby 2 days ago”. Me too😂 but I’m not that tall either. Actually I never had any pregnancy clothes, only by the end of the pregnancies I couldn’t close the jeans for obvious reasons so I wore only dresses but as soon as the babies were out… the jeans were fine again😂
I looked totally pregnant as far as two months post birth. People would give me their sits in the bus. Then it all deflated suddenly after three months. It was harder for baby 2 though. Had to work the deep core for a while. Thanks for normalizing
I've had two kids. My stomach was loose for a while, but it went flat immediately after the babies came out. I didn't realize that this happened until after I started seeing content like this, and I was mind blown. Our bodies are so interesting.
This fascinates me. Like, is the bump squishier or just as firm. 😂 With all three of mine, the bump disappeared quickly. By 3 days pp, I was back to baseline, if a little jiggly. Every body is different!
I just gave birth in may, mine remained firm for a good two months now's it's in its jiggly state but that's because I'm actively trying to loose the fat.
I knew a mother who had 11 babies and she would tell you 7 years is how long it takes for a womans body to go back to normal on the inside everything on the outside is a reminder of love ❤
I honestly had no idea you could still have that much of a bump after, I know in all it takes time for the body to get back to where it was before but I always thought the bump went down. Good to know.
I was blessed it took 2 weeks my first child three and a half weeks the second birth for my stomach to go down. I also had huge babies. Although yes, every person is different and it's perfectly normal that it will take time..... it's the natural process of your body saying I will take time to heal and have patience with myself ❤ . Also you have had 6 babies so that's completely normal. I also feel it's healthy to slowly heal.
22 years ago when I had my first this wasn't mentioned by anyone. None of the books I read. None of the what to expect books. No where. I felt so confused like "did y'all forget one in there?" I'm happy that it's becoming something ppl are finally normalizing, often after having a baby and being surprised... But for real, we have been having babies since the beginning of time and no one thought it was important to let others know? Even in the "what to pack" things out just said "Comfortable clothing" when it should've said "comfortable maternity clothing as you're still going to have a belly!" Perhaps this is why so many women do belly binding but I know when I asked my midwife about that for baby number 2 it was medically not recommended. Wish I could recall the reasons now! You look great and your body is awesome! Congratulations!
I had my first at 18 and absolutely no one told me that I would bleed for WEEKS after giving birth. I have 4 daughters now and I've been as open and honest with them about how this goes and my oldest watched my 5th be born. (She was 13 & found it amazing)
I have a connetive tissue disorder and i look like a thin person after i give birth. But i struggle to gain weight during my pregnancies because of metabolic issues. So i rhink id rather look like you chrissy. Congratulations 🎊
Times I've wished I had more pregnancy experience. But I didn't gain weight, barely had a belly so you could hardly tell I was pregnant the whole time unless I told someone. Didn't go through any of the typical symptoms, why I went almost 6 months without knowing I was pregnant... I'm sure others would wish to experience that but didn't feel like a typical pregnancy to me.
Months. The Answer is months. Also, giving birth actually widens your hips. Motherhood also pads you a little in the best of ways. The real difference between Miss and Mrs. clothing sizes of old reflected the difference in pre and post pregnancy bodies. Nothing wrong with embracing your new curves.
I expected to look like this right after I gave birth but I was really flat. And I almost had a panic attack seeing myself in the mirror when I got home.
Once you start Nursing it helps uterus contract down to normal size. Everyone is different. If you had very strong abdominal muscles it might be much shorter. But maybe 2-3 months when skin shrunk too

I remember feeling so small and slim until I saw myself in the mirror and still looked pregnant!
I expected to look like this right after I gave birth but I was really flat. And I almost had a panic attack seeing myself in the mirror when I got home.
Congratulations on your baby 🙏🥰
A week later, I was still looking about seven months 😂
It took me almost two years to get my abs back after my 5th!
this is your COLOR you look stunning
This reminds me of mom who gave birth 5 days earlier only to get to know that she is 4 months pregnant 🤣
My belly felt squishy afterwards. After giving birth, when walking, i felt out of breath.
1st baby- left hospital in pre pregnancy jeans 24 hours later-2nd baby. Still not back into pre pregnancy since 29 yrs later 🤣🤣
Hehe. You still look beautiful! Great things take time.
Be thankful it's not a c-section because you have to get your muscles to work again and you can't feel the lower part of your stomach ever 😂😂😂💯💯
Congratulations!!! 🎈🍾🎉
Once you start Nursing it helps uterus contract down to normal size. Everyone is different. If you had very strong abdominal muscles it might be much shorter. But maybe 2-3 months when skin shrunk too
