the pro channel ii from art is a sleeper of a channel strip that I use all the time to record bass di, kick drum or anything that could benefit from eq and compression the way in. the compressor is optical and the pre has a variable impedence knob
Art Pro has a few "sleepers". The VLA II is a fantastic compressor! It does a great job at rounding things off making a more smooth sound. And it does a great job especially when you change the tubes at adding grit and punch. I am currently using the Solo VLA on a kick in a whole mix and it's great! For the money this is a great very clean sounding compressor.
