What is that filter on the valve cover where the cap is suppost to go, never seen that before, what function does it have?
Basically it vents any pressure that builds up in the valve cover. Without that the car will keep blowing valve cover gaskets.

arent mitsubishi's more in particular the evo very finicky about what fluids go where? like when I had my X every one was very adamant about using OEM diaqueen ATF for the AYC, 90w gear oil for the Tcase and diff and whatever the mitisubishi stuff is for the gear box.
