The life-stories of ten survivors of the Holocaust in Lithuania, where 95% of the pre-war Jewish population was destroyed.
'In my town they buried people alive and built a warehouse on top of them' remembers Berl. Those who survived did so because they joined the partisans or the army, or escaped to Russia. Or because kind strangers hid them in basements and attics and on farms, because they slipped unnoticed through a hole in the ghetto gate or crawled out through a sewer, or somehow lasted in the camps until liberation. Chasia, now 87, got a visit late one night by friends who told her to flee immediately. 'I could leave my children behind and save myself..or try to save them' she says 'my decision has tortured me all my life'.

once again, very honored to be a part of this exquisite documentary, .. and amazed thatI found out, years later, that this was my own grandmother's hometown ~ luckily she and her immediate family left for american around 1910.
It's so amazing how the universe connects us with our ancestral past.
What an absolutely beautiful video - understated, without overwhelming music, and a focus on the individual experience. The writing and narration is poetic without detracting from the stories. I wish it was a full documentary series. I agree they should unearth the bodies of those buried beneath the warehouse and allow them a proper burial.

I cant judge her. It was a different time. I cant imagine how hard it is for a mother to leave her child.

I am sick by the fact that there is still monsters who carry those stupid Nazi ideas. That is not how things should be. Anyway may all the souls who perished long ago be free and rest in peace as well as the survivors. They are brave souls.

you guys need to understand the amount of rage i felt when i saw a neo-nazi march. It angers me at the fact that people could see a toddler thrown into a bag ad gassed to death and think its an ok thing to do. DISGRACEFUL!

I'm a 68 year old woman born in the USA. It still angers me what was done to the peoples of Europe. We have Nazi supporters here in the USA in 2022. They disgust me. Why do people hate others? I can't understand it.

I did not realize how much hate still exists! I guess some think mass murder is acceptable. It is not.
It is easy to blame God for such atrocities. But that is what Satan does. God loves these people so much that Satan did everything he could to decimate and destroy them. Satan hates everything God loves so he wants to destroy it.
But he could not and cannot.
These people, the Jews, have a perfect place with God. I doubt haters can confidently say that.
