Finally- and Old English Sheepdog! How beautiful is Vivian? Not a breed I see often, and I don't know why that is. The puppies are ridiculously cute, the adults are gorgeous- why aren't they seen everywhere? They are a wonderful pet, and so much fun. Bennie was a true comedian, there was never a dull day with him. He's been gone almost exactly 15 years, and I miss him every day.

Just like other dogs, they fall out of favor. People just turn up their noses about them. My dad's friend had one she with a sweet heart. Dad's friend lived 4 blocks from our house she i would walk to his house to with her and take her for walks. I walk her to my high school and let her run around off leash
They’ve become rare now due to doodles. In fact, I’ve seen more old English sheepdog doodles than pure ones! Why would you make a doodle of it? They already don’t shed! It’s so stupid! Doodles are a plague.
What a sweet floof. Vivian has a great temperament, and her family must take wonderful care of her. Taming all that fur to near zero mattes for Vanessa is a rare thing... usually, Sheepdogs end up on the 2nd channel 😂
Old English Sheep dogs will always make me think of Max from The Little Mermaid. The squealing that took place when I saw the thumbnail was unreal. I am in love. She’s a lovely girl! Her owners have done a great job with her social skills. In the UK these dogs are nicknamed ‘Dulux’ dogs as they’ve been used to advertise paint for decades!
In South Africa too! They’re used in the Dulux paint ads. They usually make a mess on the paint with their long hair and then the ad shows how easy it is to clean the mud off the walls.

Absolutely gorgeous..... So we'll looked after. We had a friend many years ago had a Vivienne, (not her name tho) who loved big people and little people. She was gentle around the little ones but to greet you she would run and jump into your arms (tip stand with back against a wall to support yourself) and that was fine once she had her big cuddle she would return to earth. The unfortunate thing was when she was so excited she peed all over you (next tip... spare clothing and baby wipes!!!). Thank you for sharing Vivienne and bringing back memories of a very goofy hairy teddy dog.....

Back before I was born my parents had an Old English Sheepdog who was a rescue. I'm sad I never met him. He was apparently super sweet and gentle even after all he'd been through before he was rescue (had bad scarring around his neck from where a rope had been been tied tightly and left there). He was very protective of my mom, especially when she'd walk him.
She's a cutie cucumber! My mom &dad adopted us a sheep dog when i was around 5yrs old. Tasha. She was the bestest bud. We lived in a nice lil town that wasn't too secluded but with lots of land, woods & open fields so I remember always being out. she could run free with us cuz we were on a dead end street. We found that if we stuck out our foot and gave her our snow boot she would pull us playfully on a sled innthe snow. Free rides by our legs lmao. What a blast! Im against breeding cuz of so many homless pets but back in the late 1970s i remember we walked into my mom's bedroom one afternoon, there were 13 puppies, she gave birth to on my moms bed😅 I know it was around then that i developed my obsession of all and any animals fuzzy, hairy, feathered or scaly🥰
My favorite dog growing up was our Old English Sheepdog Jessie. She was the sweetest thing, but if us kids started fighting, she'd get between us and put a stop to it. I loved that sweet dog.

She would actually stop occasionally and “count” to make sure every child was safely in her eyesight. I always was told that OESD needed to have some hair covering their eyes to protect them from the sun.
i had one of these i picked up from the pound. she was the absolute best dog i ever had. i would throw a ball for her to get and she would go get it once. if i threw it again she would look at the ball and turn to me with a look of disgust and i would have to go get the ball myself. she was my bestie.
Oh my gosh! I own a part Vivian! My Molly is sheepdog and Merle Collie. An accident mix I got from a farm 4 years ago. She looks most like a sheepdog….ok, looks just like Vivian! Crazy sweet, strong, loving, loud, active but knows our routine. We try to keep her fluffy but it is a challenge. Her groomer loves her and keeps her in great shape. Simply a wonderful dog. ❤

Some of my wife's family had a big Old English that they kept full-coated. Sweet dog, really nice and loving, dumber than a bag of hammers. But so nice and friendly and pretty that nobody cared about the total lack of brains. :)
My best friends family(at 10 years old) had a sheep dog named mopsy, who guarded us little people to the best of her ability. I will never forget her. She was a super hero. My father died when I was eight and so did I. My best friend parents were my second parents, but mopsy was my third mom. She watched over my best friend, myself and our younger siblings like her own babies.

Here in Brazil we had a kid's tv show caled TV Colosso, bit like a sitcom except with dog puppets working on a tv station. The main character was an English Sheepdog named Priscilla -- so whenever I see a dog of this breed, it's a Priscilla to me. I LOVED that show. Vivian brought back those memories so hard I almost concussed myself, lol. She's perfect, very demure, very mindful indeed.

I think fewer and fewer people have places big enough for large dogs.
