Definitely add a bit about Asus and others that load their BIOS with malware that secretly auto installs during Windows setup. Shady crap like that needs to stop.
While a fantastic and interesting interview I feel like this is also Vince doing his best to sell his guys to other manufacturers. Love how he really cares about his team and wants to see them succeed outside of EVGA.
Noooo I want an EVGA AMD motherboard. These videos really showed the passion they put in their stuff and I'd love to support it. Ideally with an am5 build. I have a 5800x3d setup now on a cheap mobo (x570 a pro) so it's not exactly smart to replace it, but man I'm tempted
This video is so rare. Love the unsung series, and K|NGP|N is a real guy, engineer, hero, self made, and good guy. What an inspiration to see the people behind the tech.
Massive props to Vince for getting these guys the praise they deserve. Hope this helps them land an amazing new position at a company that can appreciate them.
From the day that I met Vince (Waaaay back in 07?) , he's always been good peeps. Putting his bios guys on camera and giving them the credit they deserve is the kind of guy he is. (he's also marketing for them at this point which is awesome too).
Vince seems like such an awesome dude and he is a good dude for giving these guys as much hype as they can get, especially if it helps them with their new jobs and pay.
It's sad to hear they're splitting up, but the idea of gigabyte or ASRock getting one of them is enough brain gain to have them at the heels of the competition
Thank you for showing those amazing people. In the video you just see all of them chilling and showing their passion for their work. It is really sad that such an amazing crew has to go new ways. I wish for all of them an amazing future
I really enjoy this content. It's good to hear from the unsung heroes behind the scenes. It's a shame that EVGA has gotten out of the game. End of an era.
Kingpin is my here from child, i run a 520W Kinppin vbios on my daily EVGA FTW3 3090 Ultra, i converted to hybrid, copper shim modded it multiple times, had liquid metal, pump mod for controlling speed and heatsinks on the back, LOVE THIS! RIP EVGA GPU'S
I Miss EVGA & Vince, Ben, Alex and even TIN (😢) Plus ALL the Other Amazing Men & Women who were the Actual Back Bone of EVGA & are 1 of the ONLY Honest Companies out there doing it 100% Genuine for 20+ yrs & to see it Ruined By a Greedy lil leather jacket wearing manboy IS disgusting to the Point that #NGREEDIA Needs to be "Bud Lighted" for what they have done to gamers and Others in the past 10 Yrs !!! FACTS !!!
Thank you GN for doing this, this happens a lot - unsung heroes who get it done everyday and help so many of us in the industry. I am really glad you were able to do this, hopefully this will give them even more umph in landing with the right company. Also again hats off to EVGA, we all hope to see them back in the GPU arena and other areas where they are much needed.
Man I love my evga z170 ftw with my 6700k. The bios is still to this day my favorite. Even though I haven't used that board since 2020 I still have it in it's original box and never want to get rid of it. It's going to be a wall piece one day.
Engineers are the beating heart of a lot of companies, but almost never acknowledged (case in point, the immense Appollo missions), great to see Vince doing this!
Awesome stuff. Thanks for bringing us this. As an ancient person I can still remember shopping for IBM clones and checking for who made the BIOS. Phoenix and AMI were the gold standards but they were also $$$. Today Im not sure if anyone even knows who wrote their BIOS.
So does this mean EVGA is dropping out of motherboards as well? Damn, how quickly a cutting edge company like them can go under.. would really like to see a summary of what is left of EVGA now.
Did I miss something? Is EVGA getting out of the motherboard game as well? Or is it just those two that are moving on and EVGA will continue making motherboards?
There's very few engineers for niche things like this. They probably have unmatchable offers from other vendors. It's just the way tech industry works. If you aren't moving to new things you're leaving a lot of money on the table.
There isn't another brand of hardware that is anywhere close to EVGA in ethos, and it's going to be tough in the future without their hardware to look forward to. I've been using their GPUs since the 700 series, and their motherboards since z100 series. I hope they still keep going with motherboards into the future, but it sounds bleak if they are moving on.
Could be money/salary related. I mean EVGA did just lose a majority of the way they make money, regardless if they stay in the mobo business or not. But that’s admittedly a shortsighted hypothesis, I don’t really know.
I see, Alex moving to another mobo vendor, I wonder what that is? Pretty sure it will vastly improve their motherboard division just like EVGA back in the day.
Don't think it's a matter of leadership not valuing these guys. It seems likely that the company is just reorganizing and eliminating product categories. I worry we won't be seeing EVGA motherboards soon, just like their graphics cards.
I have dreams of an EVGA AM5 motherboard, my Asus board is very unstable, my Gigabyte board is currently off for repairs due to bios options dissappearing and appearing at will...
I know you guys are trying to bring attention to the "People behind the Scenes" on your main channel, but honestly they belong over here! This interview was so much fun to watch, and it's obvious you're really loving it! I genuinely am interested in the people who work for these massive companies, and the independent tiny ones. Please keep them coming. Would be cool to interview game developers, factory employees, and the gamut of technicians, programmers and engineers involved in the manufacturing and materials processes.
End of an era. Hopefully something good comes out of this for all involved in the future. Without dripping steam cannons? Is Vince going to work for GN now?
I sure miss them in the GPU market. It would’ve been nice to have their design language from the 30-series evolve to 40-series, they were really good looking cards (once they got rid of the red trim). And of course I miss their build quality and software
So after shutting down their GPU department they now also close their motherboard department? That's really sad. I wonder what K|ngp|n will do when EVGA also drops out of motherboards? Then there is absolutely nothing left for him at EVGA.
I'd say Z690 was a strong win against ASUS APEX, I bought 4 boards before I found a decent one around launch only to find out there was serious QC problems with the soldering of the mem slots. Eventually they started allowing RMA's of the 2021 manuf boards but I still lost a ton of money. Been a Dark guy since Z490 but I always need to test the interesting OC board every gen such as APEX, Gene, Unify-X, Tachyon, OC Formula plus the D4 boards
I think the topic of BIOS engenering and BIOS in general deserves a full video on the main channel
Maybe we can put together a bigger video for it next time we're out there!
@@gnextras That would be awesome. Its something that i was wondering, how does programming work on this layer close to the hardware.

He's for sure trying to set them up for success once they depart.
Vince looks so proud and sad at the same time ❤
I think I heard multiple times now the bios teams are often 1-2 man teams, an entire product line owes so much to so few people.
RIP EVGA, been with them since X79. This is just heartbreaking to me!
@DannyLeWasTaken no, they just stopped making GPUs but that's basically most of what they did
Raise your hand if you're here from Vince's PC build vid 🙌
If the BIOS team is leaving, it makes me concerned that the Z790 Dark/Classy is the last set of EVGA motherboards also. I hope that's not the case!!
@alb9229 that makes sense and is what I expected. I'm just really bummed out.
Yeah this seemed like a tacit admission EVGA is leaving motherboards which is another great shame for the industry and consumers.
Given the brain drain they've had from exiting the GPU market this unfortunately was pretty much a given. Makes me a bit sick thinking about it.
EVGA will always be my favorite!
It’s a big bummer EVGA isn’t going to pursue motherboards
Yeah i wanted to support their mobos
From the day that I met Vince (Waaaay back in 07?) , he's always been good peeps. Putting his bios guys on camera and giving them the credit they deserve is the kind of guy he is. (he's also marketing for them at this point which is awesome too).
I'd love to also hear maybe during the news segment in the future just a minute segment on where these guys end up.
This was funny timing because I just rewatched the EVGA videos with Vince and Biso-Biso over the last day or two. What a legacy!
Awesome to see these guys...love hearing the back story on products, and cool to see them get some recognition!
You never think of it but without a working BIOS?UEFI the PC can not even start the OS. Thank you GN for introducing us to those hardworking guys.
Vince seems like such an awesome dude and he is a good dude for giving these guys as much hype as they can get, especially if it helps them with their new jobs and pay.
I love that these are basically job interview questions and I hope the crew can use this as exposure to leverage a dope salary.
It's over 9000!
It's sad to hear they're splitting up, but the idea of gigabyte or ASRock getting one of them is enough brain gain to have them at the heels of the competition
I mean gigabyte would definitely benefit from them, their bios isn't the best xD
Massively appreciated Vince and Steve, and all crew behind.
A lot of great candid conversation that went on here. I agree with the comment that more content on BIOS would be super cool.
Jezz, hard work for KING Bios to OC at max power. so much respect for this 2 lovely humans :D!!!
Thank you for showing those amazing people. In the video you just see all of them chilling and showing their passion for their work. It is really sad that such an amazing crew has to go new ways. I wish for all of them an amazing future

I have always admired when Steve’s Mandarin speaking skills come out during an interview. And his proficiency has improved greatly!
RIP EVGA. Please consider making less-ridiculous motherboards and I'll buy them.
!KINGPINNNNNNN!
That was interesting and fun to watch! It was also an important video imo. As they say, thanks Steve.
They shall be missed
This video is a core memory.
I can see why this isn't on the main channel, but it should be.
As a Z790 Dark Kingpin board owner, I am afraid the Z790 board will not get any bios update anymore😢
Great highlight, the passion of these industry professionals is so cool to see
I've said it several times before on the main channel, I love the videos with Vince. I only hope the best for him and the rest of the team 😊

7:45 not disappointed with the subtitles here
'Who is the BIOS team at EVGA' 'It's just two guys' you're kidding! Two people created the UEFI firmware stack for an entire company...
Thanks Steve!

Man seeing this after hearing their whole motherboard team walked out today hits different lol
should have put that on then main channel so everybody could get to know them !
I would absolutely run a EVGA motherboard, but I went 7950X3D not Intel.
So z790 Dark is the last EVGA board?
no bios engineers, no Vince, no motherboards
Loved the DBZ reference in the subs.
Man I love my evga z170 ftw with my 6700k. The bios is still to this day my favorite. Even though I haven't used that board since 2020 I still have it in it's original box and never want to get rid of it. It's going to be a wall piece one day.
so sad, RIP EVGA, I really liked the new EVGA BIOS
Engineers are the beating heart of a lot of companies, but almost never acknowledged (case in point, the immense Appollo missions), great to see Vince doing this!
We get blamed for everything

3:00 bearded hardware the dwarven overclocker
I got an evga ftw3 3080 about a week ago. I'm really hapy to be able to have a piece of their engineering in my case!
I know they probably can't show it, but it would be amazing to see their development process!
Hopefully they have as much fun in their next roles as it looks like they had with Vince. Great Vid. Damn steam cannons.
So does this mean EVGA is dropping out of motherboards as well? Damn, how quickly a cutting edge company like them can go under.. would really like to see a summary of what is left of EVGA now.
Loving these videos and it's awesome to see the people who don't often get spoken about but are key components of the success for a company
Thank you guys! Biggest Vince fanboy around. Ill never sell my Kingpins(#8 on TS HOF/#16 TSE on Water) unless he needs them back 😁.
Water dripping is just for extra cooling, that's what actually enabled them to push the clocks higher. Bet ASUS booth didn't have that!
If only I would have got to meet everyone sooner.
Did I miss something? Is EVGA getting out of the motherboard game as well? Or is it just those two that are moving on and EVGA will continue making motherboards?

@alb9229 well we got our answer on latest video on the main channel, it's so sad!
I'm pretty sure bios engineers are wizards
Oh yeah! I'm a programmer (java/scala) and all this hardware level stuff gives me chills 😅 it's magic for sure!
A wizard is never late, they're merely something something ram timings?
(I don't have enough o.c. knowledge to be more specific)
It's an area that few have expertise, like disassembly and reverse-engineering. You have to have a passion for it.
I hope this is linked from the main channel. Only found it by chance. Subscribed.
7:40 It's over NINE THOUSAND!!!!!

So evga isn't making motherboards anymore?
They could stay and tune their bios for the motherboards.... You would think.
What 10,000 mbps what’s freaking crazy. Those must me the Hynix chips. That’s crazy that a board and cpu can do that
I miss EVGA already
I can't believe Kingpin just said Asus had the best mobos... RIP Asus. Had.
So my fears just became real
Evga is also stopping its motherboard production
Even if not offical with bios programmers you cant make motherboards
@@RFLCTRare they just dying? what do they do besides pc?
very cool video man!
GREAT video. you must also realize it is men n women that make these stories, these machines work. LOVED it..
King Slacka in the wild!
Doesnt matter if its an inch or a mile, a win is a win!
One question, why would the motherboard BIOS team be moving on? Is EVGA shutting down motherboards too?
Wait why are they leaving? Isn’t EVGA still in the motherboard business? It’s sad to see talent going away from EVGA.
Exactly, the premise behind the interview seems to be missing! Why?
Could be money/salary related. I mean EVGA did just lose a majority of the way they make money, regardless if they stay in the mobo business or not. But that’s admittedly a shortsighted hypothesis, I don’t really know.
im gonna miss those guys, i hope they leave me with a great final bios for the x570 dark
I see, Alex moving to another mobo vendor, I wonder what that is? Pretty sure it will vastly improve their motherboard division just like EVGA back in the day.
as awesome as that was.. kind of made me sad lol. good luck in y'alls future endeavors!
Why are those guys moving to different companies? Is EVGA going to stop selling mobos?
If EVGA leaders don’t realize the special people they have, then sadly those people are better off somewhere else. Wish all of you the best!
Don't think it's a matter of leadership not valuing these guys. It seems likely that the company is just reorganizing and eliminating product categories. I worry we won't be seeing EVGA motherboards soon, just like their graphics cards.

A friend of mine just replaced their 780 Ti Classified with a new AMD card :( Sad days :((((
No thanks. The 30 series cards were some of the ugliest and cheapest designs in the entire GPU market.
So no more EVGA motherboards either???
Man this is so sad. Really is the end of an era.
I had hopes evga would go back to the gpu market at some point but I think it’s done for good 😢
So after shutting down their GPU department they now also close their motherboard department? That's really sad. I wonder what K|ngp|n will do when EVGA also drops out of motherboards? Then there is absolutely nothing left for him at EVGA.
