One thing I didn't cover is the color. Ultimately it's something agreed upon by the AM & LEGO. Would Dark Turquoise have been better? Arguable. It's closer in hue to Aston's current teal, but probably too bright & bluish from a brand recognition perspective. I also don't know if LEGO could have recolored enough parts to teal for this one set. Dark green is closer to a classic "British racing green," but not aligned with Aston's current FIA colors. Ultimately these look good to me in green and recognizably Aston, even the color is definitely far from perfectly accurate.
the photos and videos I saw made it look like a very bright yellowish green. The color isn`t perfect and far away from british racing green but acceptable for me. IN the end it would not have mattered to me. I treat speed champions like Ash treats pokemon."gotta get them all"
Agreed, the color doesn’t bother me either. Would it be nice for it to be perfect? Sure, but I also believe if Lego could’ve made it the right color, they would’ve. Doesn’t detract from the actual models though
The original Lego green is one of my least favorite Lego colors, so I really don't like the looks of either of these. The dark green would have worked as British Racing Green for me. This does not. The too small F1 wheels are annoying but I would have accepted that if it wasn't for the color.
Looks like LEGO decided go the Oxymoron route by putting Stroll in the "safety car" This set should come with a huge warning label for kids that reads: LEGO will not be held liable for damages if you decide to swap the minifig heads around in this set.
Seems like the colour of the stickers matches very well with the colour of the bricks, wwhich is very nice to see. You often call Lego out, rightfully, when stickers don't colour match, but I think it should be pointed out that they work really quite well for this green colour.
Lego has evolved so much over the years by creating new pieces to be able to make Speed Champions look even more realistic, I like these cars very much, the green is very appealing, we don't see many green cars in the line. Always looking forward to see more cars every time they come out.
I built these last night and wow, there are A LOT of new parts in these! I knew about the grate-less cheesegrater and the flat variation of the 1X2 curved notched pieces. But there's also the new pointy bits that flank the F1's nose, which is printed, and the triple curved 1X4 notched slopes used for building the side pods. Also the 6-wide bracket pieces to simplify the construction of the sides of the Vantage's cabin. Very useful and custom-created for Speed Champions.
Hi Jang, have you considered building a couple of Speed Champions-style cars on one of your other channels? Perhaps adhering to the basic design principles such as width, seat capacity and base plate usage. Make a car they haven't done before that you personally like, and see how well it turns out?
I'm honestly dying to see what a modern Speed Champions Ferrari truck would look like, the sheer amount of detail and building techniques that could go into it to make it realistic. Older Ferrari trucks were nice but definitely too simple. Doesn't have to be Ferrari specifically, but since that's what they always did I could expect another one.
F1 cars are supposed to be similar, since they compete on the same lvl. Differences are really minimal in real. So should be mostly the same in Lego. I think if someone is a Lego build fan and not a F1 fan or at least interested in F1 this one is probably a pass. If you are into F1 or just seeing these cars on your shelf in Lego form this is a must have. It looks great next to the MC Laren. The safety car is a nice bonus imo. And having the Mercedes myself as well, it is a bit dated but still looks nice. Anything older than the Mercedes really looks out of place. Lego should really get some other teams in the lineup as well, with the same build style.
I'd love to see a 8 stud wide Dodge Challenger Demon since last one was only 6 studs wide with a 4 wide window. Also a 8 wide Dodge Charger would be nice as well. I'll definitely pick up this set.
On etsy theres a guy that makes custom Fernando Alonso figures for this. (He makes Lance stroll too but I can't imagine a lot of people would want that lol). Ha also makes Lando and Oscar for the McLaren set and just about every Ferrari driver since Michael Schumacher
The similarities of the McLaren and Aston Martin F1 cars are fairly realistic. The current regulations have produced very similar designs in a lot of the cars. I’ve been scaling down the new F1 cars to 6-wide and the new wheels look better in scale and the overall scale is better too.
I love LOVE *LOVE* the colour of these! I'm so used to seeing the "bright" dark green that they use these days - that it almost looks too dark to me when I see Lego's traditional (dark) green! I do think that the builds are getting a bit samey, which is a let-down for Speed Champions - since they all used to be so unique from one another, but for me - the colour is the selling point. And if they are going to make almost exact copies of cars (the F1), I think they should do it to an even greater extreme - make a whole fleet of F1's that are all exactly the same except for the livery/racing company. That way we could potentially make a whole racetrack full of F1 cars of the same design in order to simulate an actual race.
I got this set some time ago, it is amazing, would like to see more F1 cars (single sets if possible). But the only thing off for me is color. It should have been teal.
there are lots of SC cars. Its fine for me to have similar looking (but suitably changed in the right locations) where a buyer might be a fan of team A over team B and picks accordingly. If you're a completionist that may be a disappointing buy but that's a choice you make. I do hope if they do another F1 car (Ferrari is sitting right there as a license they already have), that they take that opporunity to bring in larger rears (technically only one new part as the existing fronts are now a regular part).
As an F1 fan I hate how inaccurate the color is, I would love to line this up next to the Mercedes and McLaren but I wasn't sure if I could tolerate the color being so wrong... However, seeing you take the safety lights off of the Vantage might have sold me on this. That one looks realllly slick that way and might make the set worth it overall.
They could've definitely done the side pods differently.. I might even have to mod that. Just seems kinda lazy that they basically just recoloured the McLaren design.
I noticed the Aston Martin f1 doesn’t have a number on it? Is there a reason for that? I’m not versed in the f1 world so I’d like to know if anyone has an answer for me!
If the fig is Jessica Hawkings it the F1 should be the AMR22 cause she was a rookies in it. And I propose an idea this should be a AMR history 2 pack we have the female fig and fig that is a resemblance to Franando Alonso so people be happy and don't mind the JH fig. What you thought on that?
a personal skip for me. Partly colour; partly similarity to the Mclaren (which nails the colour); partly the vantage being close to the existing one. A double pack has to work harder to justify a purchase from me and both of these are well enough served (for me) with other existing 8-stud models. I'll save my money for the hopefully real rumoured F40
Wheel comparison is not just nitpicking, Jang. Using the same size wheels for both the front and back in an F1 model is a significant oversight by Lego. I don't understand how the head of design approved this version with identical wheels. Many of my friends, along with myself, have decided not to purchase these F1 cars solely because of the size of the rear wheels.
Wow, the builds of both are insanely good. The designers at lego truly are some creative folk. Also, hey I think they got Bert Mylander as that safety car minifig. Cool they got to represent the greatest driver ever.
I really wish the colour didn't bother me, but unfortunately it just looks way way too different from the real thing in my eyes, so I'll likely be skipping this one despite being a huge F1 fan.
Probably the worst speed champions set with context. Both builds are complete rehashes, they got the reference color wrong, and the set costs $45! That's a great value for the Mercedes set that weighs half a kilo, but this looks like it weighs closer to a third of a kilo. The formula one car is only with $15, plus the full size car makes the set about $35, not $45.

Oh no its Saw Gerrera colored again (not really but reminded me of it lol)
The colour ruins it, I’ll pass
the photos and videos I saw made it look like a very bright yellowish green. The color isn`t perfect and far away from british racing green but acceptable for me. IN the end it would not have mattered to me. I treat speed champions like Ash treats pokemon."gotta get them all"

I suspect the figs are going for Jess Hawkins (Aston Ambassador and Stunt Driver) and Berndt Maylander (official F1 safety car driver).
Yeah the safety car even has his glasses
@aat8345 nice touch. Impressive.
Berndt Maylander is definitely recognizable
The Speed Champions racing oriented designs are always on point! I'm loving the new F1 cars!! I do wish they'd have the race cars as standalone though
Seems like the colour of the stickers matches very well with the colour of the bricks, wwhich is very nice to see. You often call Lego out, rightfully, when stickers don't colour match, but I think it should be pointed out that they work really quite well for this green colour.
I would love to see an updated mercedes f1 car in this new style with new pieces
Lego has evolved so much over the years by creating new pieces to be able to make Speed Champions look even more realistic, I like these cars very much, the green is very appealing, we don't see many green cars in the line. Always looking forward to see more cars every time they come out.
Just built the AMG g wagon still got the roadster to go. A good father's day.
Hope they keep this theme going, affordable and amazing.

Always good to hear your expertise on these
These are really beautiful for such a simple color scheme.

Been loving the F1 lineup, really hope we can get the entire grid in Lego form someday.

Regardless of the colour, they both look incredible! Nice review!

Kolorystycznie całkiem ciekawe.
Hope we get a Red Bull car
I could see a RB17/RB20 dual pack
YESSS, i mean it's really likely since they have been dominating
Nice models, nice presentation. thank you.
Really cool set, although I still wish that Lego speed champions would introduce some more normal cars instead of just race cars.

Thay look amazing great review jang 👍
Very good review!
Speed Champions continues to set the standard. Absolutely top notch, even if the F1 is extremely similar to the McLaren F1
Thanks for the review Jang,.
Love your videos😊
safety car enjoyers unite!
Hope they do a Ferrari F1 car next since they already have the license for that then eventually audi when they join the grid in the coming years .
Ooh, cool! They look pretty good!
God I want a LEGO RB19

We need a RedBull f1 car!
Despite the color difference, no car number also disappointed me, but still worth to buy
Whether right or wrong I do like the green
I’d be happy to just see recolours of the McLaren in order to cover the grid, would be really cool. Recolouring isn’t a tactic Lego is shy of either.
They should have similar builds they all look the same to Me on TV, but then Im not a huge care race fan.
I just bought one yesterday with two of the Lamborghini ones
I got this set some time ago, it is amazing, would like to see more F1 cars (single sets if possible). But the only thing off for me is color. It should have been teal.

im interested in speed champions tin top cars but im gonna skip formula cars too much compromises to get them to work in this scale
The biggest draw down for me is the color green against the color green on the real car.
As an F1 fan I hate how inaccurate the color is, I would love to line this up next to the Mercedes and McLaren but I wasn't sure if I could tolerate the color being so wrong... i wish fernando alonso was included as a minifigure
They could've definitely done the side pods differently.. I might even have to mod that. Just seems kinda lazy that they basically just recoloured the McLaren design.
i hope they make a redbull one day
I noticed the Aston Martin f1 doesn’t have a number on it? Is there a reason for that? I’m not versed in the f1 world so I’d like to know if anyone has an answer for me!
Hot take I like this Vantage it's look like an improvement form original but whatever flots you boat.

What you thought on that?
I really hope they make a Ferrari F1 soon!! And a Red Bull haha but idk about licensing
Crazy to think this set has 564 pcs for $50 and the Mercedes AMG set has 808 pcs for $50

I want more F1 Speed Champions sets
Great safety car and decent F1 car. Too bad the colour is so far off
