sadly it will only help crash the game and not the pc, which is good because the pc doesnt seize up but the crash persists. GGG needs to address this issue tbh.
nice to see im not the only one, i have a max out PC, windows 11, there so many speculations how to fix it valtan fix it half, but some how it always happens with loading to town, and after it happens it keep happening like 5-10 times in a row, then if you check steam files it fix it short term, and some times it dont accure for like hrs. but dis so enoing man im so sick of it
my game only crashes when entering one specific area which i need to progress in the story, tried all of these and didnt work also tried reversing the windows update but didnt work either
All those who claim Windows version is at fault, All those who claim CPU core numbers should be messed up, THESE PEOPLE ARE FOOLS NOT TO BE TRUSTED ! The game is playable on most systems - Ensure you have a stable system with updated drivers. (this is numberonerule). Do you experience overheating or random crashes in MS excel? Don'T even try. Those who crash "randomly" but can enter the game to the "log in/options" screen have most likely a problem with stability of the game under load. This can be solved by optimizing the game settings. Those who cannot load the game even to the login/options should avoid the game entirely or buy/lease new computer. HINTS FOR OPTIMIZATION: A) Switch of all system setting that provide variable framerate or other power intelligent optimizations. B) Start with lower resolution and lower graphical settings. C) Experiment with render system ingame Vulkan, dx12, dx 11 (Vulkan seems to run better on AMD graphics, be sure to have up-to-date drivers) D) Once you have your game running try to use fixed upscaling (worked for me) E) Don't be ashamed to set lower res below HD (1080p), some PCs are just not up the task or lets just say the game cannot cope with the extra resolution. F) Consider disabling second monitor (should you have one). Do no run FSR and windowed fullscreen - its meant to run in fulscreen. But firstly if you look for the resolution disable the upscaling entirely and use just lower resolution. - if it runs on low-res then try to add the bells and whistles. But remember all the variable fps features, variable anisotropic filering, "intelligent" driver features makes the game crash reliably. Best of luck to everyone! Typically I crash once every 30mins - 1hr... very frustrating and I tried everything out there no luck and then I tried a specific Nvidia driver rollback... 1. Download Nvidia Driver 560.94 it's from August 2024... place this on your desktop so it's easier to locate 2. Download and extract DDU... place into desktop again 3. Using boot up in safe mode I ran DDU to remove the current Nvidia driver and restart (there are tons of tutorials out there) 4. Once it restarts normally your computer may look weird as if you are running low resolution, find Nvidia Driver on your desktop and install it 5. Once installation complete... go to Nvidia settings... select your options you want such as use performance, prefer maximum power etc. 6. Restart again... just in case 7. Run POE2 ... ... it should work without crashes and for some reason the in between loading screens are smoother too, very strange for an older driver LOL
The only fix that worked for me is to reinstall a clean version of Windows 11 23H2. This not only fixed once for all the crashing, but improved stability, FPS and studdering for PoE2 and all other games. The issue is with Windows 11 24H2 update that is pathetic.
This seems to be the consensus solution on all the Steam forums. sad, but true, and I'm not willing to do that for 1 game. I can get between 1 - 180 minutes of play time so far. 5 hours in and only 4 hard lockups so far, lol
@ takes 5 min to reverse update and 24h2 doesnt bring anything really so there is No reason for you to not just fix the problem permanently until ggg fixes the issue
None of this will stop the game from crashing. If you really want to stop the game from crashing, revert your operating system from Windows 11 24H2 to Windows 11 23H2.

you just have to change the version of Windows, see if you are in 24H2 that's the problem, go back to 23H that should fix it

crash after crash im so pissed off with it, its crashed on me over 5 times today, im thinking ive wasted money on this.
For me the issue happened today, when playing story mode boss my pc turns off in the exact moment again and again making it unable to progress further
What helped me was to reverse windows update to anything but the updated called "24h2".
