i personally absoluted LOVED the romance in older kdramas (not that I'm hating on the new ones), I don't feel the same with modern kdramas and usually get bored towards the end!! maybe older kdramas felt more inspired by manga plots that were very popular? the plot of older dramas felt more sophisticated and thought out imo not bc of nostalgia!!
For me, characters in older drama feel more like normal people (?) Their clothes and manners is just like ordinary people. Not a lot of branded things and aegyo. This makes the acting feel more relatable.
