  • Series 5 Episode 4. Aired 26th January 2010 on BBC Radio 4.
    From Jon's website:
"Each week in a series of interviews, short location reports, scripted monologues, phone calls etc, Jon Ronson delves into a world of
personal stories surrounding the central theme which all shed light on the human condition. Sometimes Jon goes in search of
answers and stories himself, sometimes his team of contributors do it for him. The end result is an original, fascinating, funny,
poignant and often philosophical journey through the human experience.
The programme also sounds like nothing else before. It is populated by an eclectic mix of music tracks used creatively to enhance
the speech and give a particularly late night feel to it - a kind of living nightmare in the chill out room feel."

I think this is a very British phenomenon, anyone listening who's from another country must think we're all ffing crazy, and they're absolutely right. .

I can identify really well with this, and I am German. So maybe you aren't as neurotic as a people after all ;) Although I have been told that I was a rather "British" German ^^

interesting, and from the amount of views this has i also feel i might be the only person watching this lol, but anyway, i think what this japanese inventor was experiencing was his pineal gland releasing dmt (dimethyltryptamine) which can also be achieved by smoking certain plant's root bark extracts like the mimosa hostilis

From what I've heard of dmt trips and what I've heard of near death experiences I doubt it. Dmt is powerful and most likely important and beneficial, but near death most likely involves a chaotic dump of hundreds of chemicals through a finely honed evolutionary mechanism that tries to think your way out of the situation. You could be right though.

@@michaelhall5429 I’m my experience DMT is so otherworldly I doubt it would be conducive to coming up with real life inventions.
The things you see on DMT are so unlike any tangible 3D object. However everyone is different so never say never 😅
