  • Hanna and I visited Morocco as a last minute trip. We flew out on Eid day, and had such an amazing experience. Do read my blog post on www.iaminaplace.com to hear more about the Riad that we stayed at. I cannot recommend Fes more as a holiday destination - the rich culture and beauty of the people and their kindness speaks volumes about Morocco.
    Fez فاس‎‎ is the second largest city of Morocco, with a population of 1.1 million (2014). Fez was the capital city of modern Morocco until 1925 and is now the capital of the Fès-Meknès administrative region. The city has two old medina quarters, the larger of which is Fes el Bali. It is listed as a World Heritage Site and is believed to be one of the world's largest urban pedestrian zones (car-free areas). University of Al Quaraouiyine, founded in 859, is the oldest continuously functioning university in the world. The city has been called the "Mecca of the West" and the "Athens of Africa".
    Chefchaouen or Chaouen شفشاون/الشاون‎‎, is a city in northwest Morocco. It is the chief town of the province of the same name, and is noted for its buildings in shades of blue.

    I used to teach English in Fes. I first went there when I was 16 and fell in love with it. Most people coming there for the first time have all these wrong ideas from the media but once they go they are pleasantly surprised. In fact women in Morocco have a lot of rights. And so many women work and are very educated. I haven't been back to Morocco since 2011 I miss it so much. Loved your vlog hope you get to visit more! Cheers and Salam from California!

      Hi Nora :) Yes, I completely agree! I did a U-turn in what I thought. I absolutely love it there, and learnt so much about the history of the first University in the world, which was even founded by a woman. Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed! Salam back to you.

    I'm binge-watching your videos. They're so good. I would love to visit Morocco one day. I've kind of been on the 4 corners of the country, but never actually in the country - Algeria, Western Sahara, Andalucia (Spain), Mali and Mauritania. I've even been across the water on the Canary Islands. Sooo close, but not ever Morocco :)

    • @bouchra283
      @bouchra283 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They mixed two songs actually! These are weddingsongs and they are about the wedding obviously. They sing like 'the bride came, the beautiful! With her groom, in her pretty dress' like that. And 'laaroussa fil amaria' means 'the bride..' on that thing which they carried that girl on haha, I don't know how to describe it! I'm so happy you guys liked Morocco. My mom is dutch and my dad is moroccan. We're heading to morocco next week in sha allah (:

    • @DrAminaYonis
      @DrAminaYonis  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ahhh! We KNEW it was a wedding song, we kept hearing aruus and knew they were talking about a bride. But then we were so confused because we saw little girls. For a moment we were like what's going on here. We LOVED Morocco, you have such a beautiful culture mashAllah. Thank youu x

      Hey! Ah, you will love it. I would say, have a good plan/itinerary that you want to use whilst you are there. Before you travel, make sure you know a bit about the area that you will be travelling to. It would be nice to have someone there with you also, but you don't HAVE to - travelling alone is amazing. Aside from that, I would say to just enjoy yourself and talk lots to the locals :) Enjoy it!
