This shows just how long the Romans have been around for more than half of the video was just the Romans! (Not to mention the Eastern Roman empire) as usual great work agl!
Imagine if you counted the "third Rome", Russia aswell
@@FederationMappingExcept literally no one considers Russia as the actual successor to rome. The empire died with the Eastern a Roman Empire, or if we wanna take it further we could count the last rump state which was the Despotate of Epirus which fell in 1479 I believe
Roman lasted the same as ottoman empire
@@FederationMapping "Third Rome" is a self-claimed title. By that same standard you might as well count the Ottoman Empire as just a continuation of Rome, even though it conquered them.
@@Argacyan Yeah. Nobody's the third rome lol. All of them were different states than the actual Roman Empire.
It's find of fascinating how the changes become much less common as time goes on, yet far larger and explosive when they do.
That's world tension in a nutshell. Builds up and then snaps.
I think ever since the digital revolution were in a new classical era, or perhaps ever since WW1, and we're gonna see this pattern for an era
It is also due to small explosions not surviving in the historical records, only large movements.
@@neckreththat's the opposite of their point. Further in the past = small frequent changes, recently = rare, big changes
That's what happens when you concentrate so much power in one place. Everything is far more interconnected, resilient and safe today, so when someone starts a war, it doesn't just shake the region; the entire world can feel its tremors as the bombs drop and the guns fire. Economies tank, supplies suffer, and reports come flooding in. In this age, war is an oddity for the weapons we have now are so advanced that they shake the foundations of the earth, and our machines make so much that taking land does more harm than good. That was why war was common back then; The bloodshed was in small amounts and had a regional effect, and taking land was guaranteed to make your kingdom stronger. Today, every conflict results in so many deaths that they are tenfold that of the battles we had in ages past. Back in time, we were but men. But now? Now, we may as well be living Gods. Forget hitting someone with lightning or a flood when we can eviscerate an entire city with the power of a thousand suns. Forget about all the power God had in the Bible, for we could destroy heavens entire army with the press of a button. If God were real, he would be held captive by us today, and we would have the devil's head on a pike for the amusement of the powerful

I still can’t believe how a single British guy could mess up so bad that UK lost all of the lands they had in France . Like how bad he was
The English kings during that time were French, its the Plantagenets they came from Anjou wich is why historians are calling their holdings as "the Angevin empire". They are also the reason why the English language is composed of roughly 60% French/Latin vocabulary. So yeah there is almost nothing british about them, the "British/Anglo-Saxon" kings were beaten by William the Conqueror a Norman/French duc who conquered England you can see that on the map in 1066. Your kings starting to embrace the English language was with the Tudors a Welsh dynasty that came to power in the 16th century, And like i said its not the same English culture that you've had before William's conquest.
@@ForeskinWillisyea, what forskin said ☝🏽
@@ForeskinWillis the english language is only 30% french lol
@@LockOn7016 No it is 28% French and 28% Latin. So im right.
@@LockOn7016 A computerized survey of about 80,000 words in the third edition of the Shorter Oxford Dictionary, published by Finkenstaedt and Wolff in 1973 estimated the origin of English words to be as follows:
French: 28.30%;
Latin, including modern scientific and technical Latin: 28.24%;
Germanic languages, as inherited from Old English, from Proto-Germanic, or a more recent borrowing from a Germanic language such as Old Norse, excluding Germanic words borrowed from a Romance language: 25%;
Greek: 5.32%;
no etymology given: 4.04%;
derived from proper names: 3.28%; and
all other languages: less than 1%.
This is truly a masterpiece! THE AMOUNT OF EFFORT PUT INTO THIS IS AMAZING!
This is what I call dedication.
expected you to be here lol
cool! The map is quite high quality, I would like to thank you for your skill. But there is a catch about Novgorod and Slavic principalities: The Golden Horde did not invade Novgorod, and after 1380 the Slavic principalities began to gain independence in those territories where there was a Polish-Lithuania ;)
Plenty of small errors and/or (over)simplifications made here. Most recent events in Yugoslavia and the ensuring conflicts happened ~10years earlier than they do in this map-animation. I think its to be expected given the scale and complexity that is being attempted here.
And even moreover, the Mongol troops did not even reach Moscow, let alone to the north. There was no need to paint everything in the colors of Mongolia, and the Golden Horde was later and much smaller.
10:49 lil bro got too excited 💀💀
I love those types of Styles! I even did one for Iberia, although not with much effort as you did!
I will wait and see for more of these videos!

Amazing work! Loved it! It must have taken a lot of time to make this, and it paid off! Hats off to you! :)
This is such a masterpiece.

Amazed by the effort, troubled by minor inaccuracies.
Great video nonetheless!
As an old fan I never missed barley any video you post I sub on the time you post your first series 😊
That's what I call cool mapping animation!
Very well done! It's indeed very accurate!
Its very amazing that Hitler's era in this film is only 3 seconds, but Roman Empire is 3 minutes.
Yo ngl I like these videos alot and I have a suggestion: you should do one of these but with alternative history.
Great video good work!
1:24 the fracturing of the Macedonian Empire was well-timed
This is absolutely magnificent, how long did it took for you to make it?
Heyyy I haven’t watched your vids for a big while. Glad I’m back! I still remember when you do subscriber wars haha
Welcome back!
Thats very great :D
Poland and Lithuania became a single state in 1569 when the union of Lublin was signed not in 1835. In 1385 the union of Krewo only strengthened ties between Poland and Lithuania around that time the Grand duke of Lithuania became king of Poland, later converted Lithuania to christianity. Other then that the video is great and mostly accurate, just wanted to correct this part of the video as it's my country's history.
Great thing! although you forgot Samo's Empire (Samová Ríša), but this is good anyways, liking the video
this is so underated, new follow
I love it!!!😊 Keep up the good work!
Really good video, but in the 1600s i noiced a small issue. It was called the commonwealh of England during the period between Charles the 1st being executed and charles he 2nd taking the throne in 1660, afterwards it was just the Kingdom of England.
It seems you forgot the Spanish Republic, from 1931 to 1939.
Also, the Kingdom of Spain didn’t exist in the XVth century. From that moment the Kingdom of Castille and the Crown of Aragon shared their monarchs, but they were separate countries with their own laws and borders until the Spanish War of Succession ended, in the XVIIIth century
Oh alr
Still very good job
Exactly as every other country in Europe... it didn´t exist France but Frank Reich or Francorum Rex (King of the Franks).
Catalufo intentando creer que España la fundó Felipe V o Franco. Catalonia si que nunca existió
I can't imagine how long this would take, not to even mention the quality that this has! Also goes to show just how quick the World Wars were compared to the rest of European history! Great work!! 🫡🫡
Congrats! Just fascinating… Just want to know how many hours was necessary to produce this masterpiece!
Finally, maps based on facts instead of oppinions. Well done
History is all opinion and interpretation though. Obviously there are better and worse interpretations, but if there was always a correct answer on history historians would all be out of a job!
this video reminds me a lot of a game, swordfall kingdoms, which was made in flash, sadly, i can't play the full version of it anymore, but great video!

The French Revolution and the World Wars seem like outbreaks in specific countries, rather than events that marked the entire world.

i think that the map could have an upper layer with the current borders. so, for example, one can have a better view on questions like "what parts of my country did romans conquered"
I like how he didn't include Epirus and Macedonia in Greeks, knowing they are greeks too, but knowing that they weren't city states like Sparta and Athens, but rather just Greek states. Amazing work.

Glad that you kept the name "Eastern Roman Empire" instead of changing it to "Byzantium".
Any reason why one is more correct than the other? In my history textbooks we always called it Byzantium.
@@EGeorgev It's a historical term. They just didn't call their nation "Byzantium Empire".
Just a quick question, how did you make this?
I love this video, but what is the game you played this video on?
It’s not a game, they drew it all
i drew it in an app called flipaclip
@@AGLMapping oh ok thanks
It's a shame you didn't include any of the northern european civilisations before the middle ages but it would be a hell of a lot of work (and guesswork) so it's understandable. Great video!
Ik it's insignificant but there was an uprising to restore Bulgaria in 1040-1041 that started from Belgrade and captured all of Modern Serbia Kosovo and Macedonia (the region) and almost took Thessaloniki but failed and was crushed. There was another major Bulgarian uprising against Byzantium in the 1070s and 1080s that also failed.
Also the second Bulgarian empire had different borders because when the first king - Kaloyan was crowned he received the title of king of Bulgaria and Walachia.
