I did exactly what you did. I also opted to order my bass from the UK but got the Mustang in Capri orange instead. I was very tempted to get this one as well. Congrats on your Jag. Can’t wait for your Royal Blood covers.
The Mustang is a great pick too, I was also considering getting it but I think I'll purchase it in Blue instead. Really hoping they release it in Ocean Turquoise, but these are most likely the only two exclusive colors we will get. Enjoy your Mustang!
I'm waiting for this color, which happens to be one of, if not my favorite colors, to get in stock at sweetwater. So far the only downside I've seen with these models is the pickup routing under the pickguard is JUST that pickups shape. If someone wanted to put the bass version of the Wide Range humbucker (if they could even find one) like Mike Kerr has, they'd need to route out space. A tip I've learned to help combat neck dive is putting some adhesive wheel weights in the control cavity to help shift weight back towards the bridge. Obviously it'll add weight, but it worth the better balance for some.
Excited for you to get your model! Yeah it just fits the musicman humbucker from what I can tell, not the wide range humbucker. Ah good tips! The neck dive hasn’t really been too big of an issue, maybe will change the bridge out which may also help.
I have this bass in charcoal metallic. I changed the pick up to Seymour-Duncan SMB-4A alnico and put a high mass bridge to counter the mild neck dive. Plays great with a set of flat wounds.
@@haroldlanni8702 Nice, I ended up going with the EMG passive musicman pick up for mine. Haven't decided on a bridge yet though. I'm curious what brand of flats you went with, someone on the Talk Bass forums tried to do some flats with the fender hi-mass bridge and due to the length of the hi-mass bridge, the couldn't get the silkwinds to stay above the nut. I'd like to pass on a potential set for them.
I have that exact bass (Squire Jaguar Affinity H Bass) coming to me that is on order and is supposed to arrive at my address here in the USA in February 2025. I ordered it from Sweetwater for a Total price (shipped to my address, taxes included) of $220.00 US dollars. A Sweetwater Exclusive, Limited Edition, "Orange Metallic" color. I can't wait! I've already ordered a set of Ernie Ball "Slinky", 45 -105 Flat Wound strings for an upgrade. They'll be in my possession before the Bass is even built. LOL. Remember, the delivery date is February 2025 (nearly 5 months from today, October 2, 24). The guitar probably hasn't even been built yet? LOL.
@@jaggarjellots4120 I actually wound up cancelling my order when I came upon a CIJ mustang bass at a reasonable price. Still curious about this medium scale length and humbucker, but I'm particularly fond of single coils and the short scale is super comfortable coming from guitar. Let me know how like yours!
@@dogaakbulut9835 I love it. I did change the bridge and pickup right away. The original pickup is a bit muddy, but I've since read that lowering the pickup height can help take care of that
@@DathSwian Ive read that a lot of people change those but Im not sure whether im gonna be able to afford that, so probably i will have to use it as it is for a while. Thank you
I'm definitely not a beginner player more like advanced and for some strange reason I'm considering buying this guitar. I think it could be the one that is really fun to play and also to being modified in future... In my opinion these ultra cheap squier basses sounds great - low price doesn't mean it sucks. What do you think? :) Great vid btw.
Glad your neck dive wasn’t as bad as mine, I purchased and returned 3 of these bass’s because the neck dive was so bad, I even tried a high mass bridge, that only slightly helped. Perhaps with a high mass bridge, lightweight tuner’s and even changing the position of the strap buttons,,, with doing ALL those things the neck dive might be alleviated.
Nice info and demo. Not really a fan of a Humbucking bass but I’ve been wanting to try a 32” scale so might try this bass since it’s pretty low cost. BTW, did you ever end up replacing the pickup? If so, what did you install and how did it compare?
Thanks for watching! No I decided to sell the bass instead, I'll either try to get the Fender Mike Kerr signature or wait for Fender to reissue a starcaster for future Royal Blood covers. Still a comfortable bass to play, but the pickup is just so muddy.
@@louie8604 definitely would be a cool project, I have to start smaller though. I’ve never even changed my own pickups before, need to start with acquiring soldering skills lol
@@MyBassistChris I got the Kent Armstrong one that I'm going to install a 3-way parallel/split/series switch on. I'll let you know how it sounds when my shell pink model arrives.
One question, is the output of the ceramic Humbucker pickup louder than the pickup of a Precision ? It also seems to be light weight and quite versatile
I guess it would depend on the Precision bass, but if I would compare it to a Squier Affinity P bass I would probably say the P bass is a tad louder but not much different. The bass itself is super lightweight, I would say if there was a little more clarity in this pickup it would be the perfect entry bass! The bass is comfortable and the 32" is pretty unique.
Can't go wrong with either bass! This bass is very comfortable to play which is definitely a must for a first bass and the bass is currently on sale for Memorial day. The main con of this bass is the pickup is weak. Definitely cannot go wrong with a P-bass! The Squier 40th Anniversary Gold P Bass was on sale for $300 last year (originally $600). If you can get a good deal on that P bass that's a great option. Hope this helps!
As stated it probably should work for Drop C, but note that because it is a medium scale bass you might not get as much sustain from that low C note. I am currently looking at getting a Dunable R2 as my Drop C bass because it has a 35" scale neck. Hope this helps!
I’m a complete beginner with Bass. Did ny first lesson the other day and enjoyed it :) do you think this would be okay for an absolute beginners bass? Thanks :)
Neck dive sucks.. You should be able to get some hipshot light weight tuners to combat the neck dive.. I bought an Epiphone EB3 online but sent it back cause you let go of The neck and it’s slammed to the floor. Great video 👍
Squire tuners have really big ferrules and they're not the same size as on Fender tuners. I haven't been able to find anything other than exact replicas that will fit. I have a 30" Jaguar bass and the clover heads look like Mickey Mouse ears on a bass that small. They hold tune pretty well, but they look silly and when you turn them there's a bit of play before the shaft starts to move.
Thanks for your review! So it seems the only downside is the pickup… do you think you could make up for the lack of highs with a brighter set of strings? Like a DR High Beams or d’Addario XL?
Glad you enjoyed the review! It may help, but I don't think it would fully resolve the pickup issues. I do plan on changing the pickup on this bass at some point, it just isn't a priority right now. Hope this helps!
