I'm a fan of Rise Against, this song, and rock in general, but personally I reserve the title of lyrical masterpiece to the likes of 'Time' by Pink Floyd.

Modern Warrior School That is pretty deep, for sure. What I'm trying to say is that everyone will pass through a failure or mess up in some (or many) aspects of life, because that's the best way of learning things and improving yourself (making mistakes). And this songs points out this contradiction in a very poetic way… It reminds me of Barroco, a type of poetry of the XV century.

this songs speaks to all the kids who graduated through 2008 recession and saw congress fuck us over since 2010-2018 (passing laws that undermined your rights, civil liberties, education, wages, environmental etc..)

This band really hits home with all their songs, I've lost most people close to me and this song is what I listen to when I'm remembering
The first time I heard this song my mother had just died. I felt lost and confused, unsure who I was or why I was still alive. I was seventeen and a junior in high school. Now a year and a half later I am 19 and starting college in two months. She was an English teacher and this song made me realize that I wanted to follow in her footsteps by becoming an English teacher too.

Man this band ended up being the defining band of middle school and high school for me. This song came out my freshman year of college and I'm just visiting for some nostalgia.

I wonder how many kids from high school back during early 2000s (2004-2008) have become orphans of the American dream (I graduated in high school 2007) and getting any jobs was so hard now I've been working shitty retail jobs even though I have degree and lots of debt, I'm trying to fix my life but its not easy and I hope student loan debt forgivseiness works for me.

This is just a work of art that is a big middle finger to those who say that you cant do it. Best thing was singing this while getting bullied. Hilarious to sing it and watch them be confused that I kept fighting. And that's what it is keep fighting.

Was lucky to see them live 3 years ago they good. And one hell of god damned moshpit of my life. Lasted 15 minutes then someone pulled me outtta there (rescuing newcomers) it was the best time of my life.

I am very active at my local library. They have a teen bookclub, guitar hero nights, (mostly during the summer), and other events. Frequently, I am the only one at these teen events. There are two librarians who do this. I have gotten to both of them well. One, who is in her late thirties, likes music. Can you guess one of her favorite bands? Rise Against ;)
Even librarians are not oblivious to the awesomeness that is this band.

I think it's mostly "a lesson" about the Plebeian revolt (494 BC) in Rome. At the time, Rebublic of Rome didn't give any rights to plebs, so they left the city. As they were crucial for economy and battles, the upper class (patricians) promisse to give them some basic rights if they get back, and so they did.
Also, I think it's "We won't back down, we *WILL* run and hide", like other guy commented.

Actually, the wiki page says that although it is GRAMMATICALLY INCORRECT, it is used in an everyday way very often. Basically, it means that although it is technically against grammar rules, it is just another example of how language evolves.

Everyone's right. Its a lure tactic. Kind of like a pincer attack is a lure tactic (yes its actually a lure tactic plus i know what a pincer attack is). They say that they wont run and hide becuase to them its disgraceful. Alot of countries use to do these tactics, even america during its revolution from Britain did it/. They provoked the enemy into chasing them where they would lead them into a trap. But even so sometimes Retreat is the best plan of action.
