  • Takayama is a historic town located in the mountainous Hida region of Gifu Prefecture in Japan. The town is known for its well-preserved Edo-period streetscapes and traditional architecture. Visitors can explore the narrow streets and admire the wooden houses, many of which have been converted into shops, restaurants, and museums. The town is also famous for its festivals, including the Takayama Festival, which takes place in the spring and fall and features ornate floats and traditional performances. Other popular attractions in the area include the Hida Folk Village, a museum that showcases traditional Hida-style farmhouses, and the Shirakawa-go village, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its unique thatched-roof houses.
