Any animal, including a human, has the capability to be vicious and dangerous if treated viciously and trained to be so. If you beat the sh*t out of a human all of its life and it attacks someone, we think it's awful but hey, they lived through abuse so it's understandable. It's the same with any other animal; we're really not all that different from other species. It's just trendy to hate pitty's right now.

For some reason, I thought of Sam today. I followed him after his rescue & was so sad when he crossed over but I was also comforted by the fact his last part of life he was loved. Here’s to Bulletproof Sam & the angel team that helped him realize his best life.

This is one of the reasons why all my dogs have been rescues. The one I have now, Dani, had a bad life too, (Not as bad as Sam's though).
She was thrown over a 7ft fence, and forced into the back of a truck for 2 weeks with barely any food or water. Now we have to ration her food or she eats it all in one go. She also is terribly afraid of any man (accept the ones that live in our home).
The humans that cause pits and other breeds to be condemned should themselves be condemned. Thank you for rescuing Sam and all the other poor, unfortunate and forgotten creatures.

Sam is the epitome of why Breed Specific Legislation against pit bull types is so off the mark!!! To be such a sweetie even when subjected to such horrific crimes against him, and still love and trust humans, shows the unconditional love domestic dogs have for us. I hope Sam has found a wonderful forever home!

It is hard not to get affected by the poor situation that dogs find themselves into. Who can do this to such a loyal, loving and grateful animal considered to be man`s best friend.
Oh no. I just read that Sam passed away. I imagine it was from injuries caused by his days fighting. Poor guy. I wish he could have had more happy years. He was able to forgive and forget. I also just read that the man who raised and fought him did not get jail time or a fine. I cannot believe it. The injustice of it all is appalling. R.I.P. Sam ole fellow. You deserved so much more from your life.

He lived for nearly three years after his rescue.
He was so adorable for what he has been through and his attitude is beautiful if I had him I would name him popeye (you know why)

volunteered for Hospice 6 yrs and got tired of people not appreciating my free time to help them. So I quit and now volunteer at the animal shelter. The dogs appreciate my visits. Also, take your abused dog to the chiropractor and see the immediate reaction they get from pain relief. Great job to all of you. On our 3rd pit rescue
The story brought tears to my eyes. I don't understand how anyone could be cruel to animals. The thought of what this poor dog must have gone through to have been hurt like this, breaks my heart. There needs to be very stiff fines and prison sentences for anyone who abuses animals. It is a short step to go from abusing animals to abusing people.

Thanks to everyone involved in rescuing Sam and the other dogs. People who inflict torture and suffering on animals should burn in hell. They're vile, despicable, inhuman scumbags. I'm so happy for Sam and the other dogs now they have a chance to have a normal, happy, loved life. Sam is gorgeous no matter what and his personality really shines!

There seems to be no depth to human cruelty and no peak to a dog's ability to come back from that cruelty. Thank you to those who are in a position to help these dogs! I am so happy to hear Sam is in the home that he and all animals deserve.

I have one and she's the best dog I've ever had...yes it was a slow process to help get stop being afraid but she's made amazing progress. They really do live to love and be loved...
As soon as I can get a house of my own, I'm gonna get a pitty, and it's gonna be a rescue! I agree with you, because all you have to do is look in a pitty's eyes... Doesn't matter what it's face looks looks like; you'll be hooked!
Just make sure you contain and muzzle and don't let it maul other peoples kids and pets just because you want to play miss hero
i have four rescues......ALL of them were out on the road, on their own, starving, sick , desperate , before i found them or they made it to my place in the rural country.....they are grateful, loyal, and will love you like no other...unconditionally......rescue / adopt.....don't shop.....they are all beautiful ..

I’m 52 years old 6 foot 220 pounds I have seen a little bit of everything in my life and not to many things get to me but seeing this choked me up in honestly made me cry I don’t see how people can be so cool God bless all those who stepped in to help

i love my dogs as sons, they are my babies and i wil forever protect them, it breaks my heart to see an animal suffering... As a lover of the breed it pains me to see jerks harm them, when all they want is to love so unconditionally and please. My rescued boy warms my heart every day! I'm glad I could love him as he loves me despite the unknown abuse he endured. It's nice to see Sam has a chance. I hope he gets/has a loving home.
