It's great that she was her age "checked out" plywood furniture and plywood pattern. My parents would have been shocked, they don't share my love of plywood. Another cool works from you.
The gorgeous desk and built ins are just incredible. I think it’s the use of space and besides it’s well made, high quality, and fits her space perfectly even the aesthetics… wow! Everything has its place, I love that. I think that piece goes so well with all of her delicately painted pieces you’ve already done, to have the softness of the wood, it’s just organic in many ways yet very organized and precise, perfect, clean lines… good job as always!
I genuinely thought that the lady at the end was going to say "I'm ready for you, sensei." I need to get off the internet... .. . Brilliant work, mate.
Janna reminds me of someone I used to know. Always made me smile. It’s so neat to have people like them in your life. I really enjoy your videos. Keep up the great work! I would like to see more of the Origin Shaper.
You do an amazing job building projects. It's always good recording your happy customers (if they allow you to record) but the ending part on how the lady was happy made it more interesting because she liked how it turned out and the way she asked. Man, I wish I could have some tiny piece of talent that you have. Awsome job.
Incredible to see this fantastic work and the possibilities with end grain. And of course the satisfied client, a wonderful humbling feeling that never gets old
As a Canadian, I've grown up and still use a combo of metric and imperial. When measurements get smaller than an 1/8", I can't conceptualize that size and switch to millimetres. Canada has all the confusing ways to measure things.
I'm British, use either Imperial or Metric depending on which works best, and can (mostly) convert between the two pretty easily, but the system Americans use for cooking requires conversion tables, and I don't see why I should be doing equations just to make some biscuits.
Im Dutch we don’t use inches but they are on a few tools we use here, and sometimes when I measure it falls directly on inches no way I’m gonna go into half mm xD
fellow Canadian, we measure so many things in such quirky ways its really funny. but I definitely understand the confusion over changing methods to make it less confusing lol.
Dear Michael, beautiful job. Well done. Love the patterned plywood. Note that a bespoke plywood supplier near me {only 750 km away} carries sheets with grain lengths on the face. Manufacturer must have seen your work and decided to copy it!
The whole pattern plywood thing is cool, but your design style of simple, functional and beautiful in perfect balance is what really makes it awesome. Btw, you can get the Blum drawer locking devices that have side to side adjustment as well. They're just a bit more expensive than the standard clips, but totally worth it - especially when there's very tight tolerances or grain matching, etc.
A comprehensive write up on patterned plywood would be a gamechanger for many of us, I think. Covering how to do different patterns as well as yields could make for a decent little book you could sell!
I also grew up with imperial and I think in it. My work has shown me how easy metric is but to be fair with imperial it's pretty easy too. All the fractions are proper they fit within one another and makes perfect sense.
Amazing piece of modern woodwork. The lady seems to be very lovely and if she is happy with it, so job well done! Congratulations on your skills to design and make forniture and, not to mention, make others happy.
You’re patterned plywood is just gorgeous and such a fascinating process to watch (the edge banding looks amazing on this piece and that video was so cool to watch). Not only is this super functional (like the other custom pieces you’ve made for her, it fits in her space beautifully and the best part, her reaction when you installed it!💜
I have watched probably every video you put out, and this is by FAR my favorite. Love seeing her reaction and all the things you have made for her. Beautiful work man!
This is amazing! Thank you so much for all the knowledge you have put up here, loved the corner drawer/book shelf concept, I guess I have a use case for that on my own house! So much time and talent invested in half an hour and what matters it's that smile you know, cheers for you sir
Love your work mate. The whole edging ply with ply is mind blowing. Never thought of doing it this way. I have made Damascus looking edges from light and dark layers of veneer edging. Thats something I think you would like to experiment with. Just a tip, Easy way to hang a drawer face... pre drill two screws in opposing corners on the diaginal, screw them through just so the tip sticks out through the face of the drawer, then align it and give it a knock where the screws poke through the drawer to transfer 2 marks onto the back of the drawer front. Pre drill and fit. Then you can adjust it with a mallet, then predrill and fix the two remaining screws. To fix it permanently. This way you font need double sided tape! Cheers for sharing
Nice project! Suggestion for a tweak: the bypass doors will look better with a smaller gap. You’d need to use inset pulls for clearance . You can get the raised center in the track grooves down to about 5 or 6 mm if the stock will hold.
Awesome build Michael! We have a lot of places in our house that want custom pieces like this. Super inspiring to see you make them seem more approachable for me.
Awesome...especially with the happy ending. Congrats. And who are these people leaving 👎🏽? I feel like these are the people who play don’t-pass in craps.
Freud “Thin kerf glue line rip” It’s a little harder to find than the regular glue line rip but worth it. I think it’s a popular Blade because it sells out often in the years I’ve bought them. Might help people with the quest for pattern plywood efficiency. Enjoyed this video and project. Making custom storage out of plywood is very rewarding to me. Even a simple rectangular pencil holder or small trays for milling tools in my toolboxes are simplified because of plywood. Cabinets too of course. You took it to another level with the pattern plywood. Definitely would not be as interesting if it was solid edge-banding or drawer faces.
Love the patterning it’s a way better look I can’t wait to try it on my work.Such a great channel. I love to learn new things and you do that so thank you.
A calculator would be really handy.. the only time I made a patterned panel from watching you, resulted being a few inches short. Had to add strips at the top and bottom, looks ok but could have been better. I thought I had calculated it to be too big, but the 45’s eat up material!!
Nice furniture !! Like the use of the pattern plywood very much !!! And it's cool to see the very pleased owner too ! Thanks for the video !!! 18:15 it seams you had not to forget to by food for your cat 😅😺
Outstanding build, it looks amazing! You are really mastering this ply pattern thing, it's working great! PS Maybe sitting place should have been bit deeper for more comfort but can't really tell.
Even European Airbus Industries uses SAE measurements which is mainly imperial. By the way you can probably trim the edge banding with high quality sharp pruning shears, Adirondack Guide boats of Vermont cut their thicker strips that way and the snip off cleanly. I have used that method to cut 1/16" basswood strips quick and cleanly.
Had a cool idea. Double band the edge with two different patterns then router the edge to show the first pattern on top and the routered edge to show the second beneath. Just a thought 😃
Somehow I think some wood color contrast could add the beauty but great work nevertheless.... Kinda amazed how plywood could be made such intricate decoration 👍
I have done a lot of patterned plywood projects. In fact my entire shop is patterned plywood. Although I already knew how to do this, I wanted to see how someone else did it. How they think. How they problem solve. Great work btw.
You should check out a Grex tools and they make a edge guide to go on the nailer, pinner etc to avoid blow out. Honestly a pretty clever design and the company really cares about their tools. An saves those oops moments with blowouts. Awesome concept with the edge banding as well.
The end result - making someone happy - the best part.
The best part of the video was her reaction at the end. That makes it all worth it.

Glad to see this is the top comment. I wholeheartedly agree!
Seeing someone so happy with what you made just for them is so fulfilling. We need more Janna’s in the world!
You sir, are an Artist. I have thoroughly enjoyed watching you. You are a master of your craft and I myself have been inspired.
Janna was awesome! you could tell she really appreciated the extra touches you put in. great work!
My surprise favorite thing about this video: the message on your hand about cat food
I wonder if he remebered it lol
What? It's not a feline-mandated tattoo?
Don't forget to buy cat food! Awesome piece as always!
the cat will for sure remember him in the delicate way, cats do. For example Sitting on his face when he is asleep.
Just fantastic! And the best part of our jobs is a happy customer!
It's great that she was her age "checked out" plywood furniture and plywood pattern. My parents would have been shocked, they don't share my love of plywood.

A special piece for a special lady. Beautifully done! 👍
The satisfaction after seeing a project become reality is golden especially for the clients … well done 👍

I do exactly the same. Fractions??? No f’ing way, we are going to mm’s
😂
I'm British, use either Imperial or Metric depending on which works best, and can (mostly) convert between the two pretty easily, but the system Americans use for cooking requires conversion tables, and I don't see why I should be doing equations just to make some biscuits.

Her reaction was so heartwarming. Well done, Michael!

Like seeing time and imagination incorporated in an otherwise boring task
This guy covering his end grain with end grain. Mind blown!
Amazing piece of modern woodwork. The lady seems to be very lovely and if she is happy with it, so job well done!
Congratulations on your skills to design and make forniture and, not to mention, make others happy.
Never seen before, Young ideals today for tomorrow’s future. Wood working worldwide, at it’s finest
This lady is one lucky lady to have you near her. This is a beautiful piece of genius ❤💜😍👏

I don't know why I watch these videos, I don't have the space or the tools to do any of this. Great build, your work is ace!
Wish I had all of your tools coz this plywood style and technique looks super addictive! I would be making everything with it
I have watched probably every video you put out, and this is by FAR my favorite. Love seeing her reaction and all the things you have made for her. Beautiful work man!
Really nice, Michael. I see why she's so happy with it. Take care.

That large painting on her wall is stunning

Hey Micheal, another happy customer. It looks great. Btw, 02:40 You will never be confused using metric. Try it because it so easy.
Nice project! Suggestion for a tweak: the bypass doors will look better with a smaller gap. You’d need to use inset pulls for clearance . You can get the raised center in the track grooves down to about 5 or 6 mm if the stock will hold.
Omg thanks a bunch!!! I’ll watch this probably 20 times
This lady is so cool and happy.
This project put a smile on my face! I needed that today. Thanks, Michael! 😊🛠📹👍
I never thought ply could look so good man. Your work is so clean
Over the large field of that drawer front, it really does take on a basket kind of a feel, doesn't it?
Very nice, and several examples of interesting and innovative methods of maximizing space in a small apartment. Love it.
Wow! That was 30 minutes? That went by quick!
Amazing work!
Awesome build Michael! We have a lot of places in our house that want custom pieces like this. Super inspiring to see you make them seem more approachable for me.
Thanks for highlighting The Leeds Woodcrafters Insta page. I live in Leeds and never knew they existed.
I also grew up using Imperial! Great Job! I Love This Bookcase/Cabinet!
I was really hoping you’d use the plywood edge banding on a solid wood panel in some sort of twisted alternate reality.
Patterned OSB edge banding on a live edge
So well done Michael. Thanks for sharing.
I could not live in a small place like this at all. I'd go nuts
I'm from BRASIL and I've watched almost all of your videos until I've done some work
Beautiful, Michael! Fantastic work! 😃
It was great to see that big smile on her face! Pretty sweet!
Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Awesome...especially with the happy ending. Congrats.

Man, you rock! That was an awesome build! She looked really happy about it too.
Holy crap that back sliding in was so damn satisfying
very nice. love how you applied this concept to the furniture. beautiful piece!
Satisfying visually and emotionally 😭

Way better than my old one. Perfect height
What a wonderful project👍👍
Lovely Janna.
what a super stunner, ply never looked soooooo good, cheers ess
Nice project well done. Didn't think plywood could look so nice
What a beautiful gift!!
I really enjoyed the extra montages with music in this one. Keep that up!
janna looks like a wonderfull friend.
I like a lot that you make working pieces. So many other channels make stuff I suspect goes in the skip after recording the video.
Awesome project with a good client and designer.
And nice hair(used to see hat)
0:19 I want to befriend her already!
Michael: "Say 'hi', Janna."
Janna: "Hi, Janna."
dude, seriously inspirational and gorgeous work!
Nice furniture !! Like the use of the pattern plywood very much !!!
And it's cool to see the very pleased owner too !
Thanks for the video !!!
18:15 it seams you had not to forget to by food for your cat 😅😺
What a wonderful relationship!
That handle bit is so simple but beautiful!
Спасибо ,крутая идея .Браво мастеру .👍👍👍

Wow… that’s so freaking cool Michael.
Sketchup is an amazing tool, well done on the design and final product. Only just found your channel but enjoying the content.
Holy cow, that looks so clean!
Had a cool idea. Double band the edge with two different patterns then router the edge to show the first pattern on top and the routered edge to show the second beneath. Just a thought 😃
You know what you’re doing 👊👍
Dude your amazing. Im so impressed
Man that turned out AWESOME!
GENIAL MICHAEL!! MIS FELICITACIONES DESDE LABOULAYE. ARGENTINA!!!
Awesome work. Thanks for sharing the process

Do you have any of your work posted anywhere? Would love to see it.
Спасибо за ролик! Очень творческие у Вас идеи!
This reminds me of Hakone Yosegi-zaiku. Which is amazing. Keep up the good work.
Damn that was a gorgeous project. Awesome technique and great execution!
You should check out a Grex tools and they make a edge guide to go on the nailer, pinner etc to avoid blow out. Honestly a pretty clever design and the company really cares about their tools.

Awesome concept with the edge banding as well.
Love the custom fit / crafted piece!
