Hi Matt, looking forward to seeing some of the machining videos, I have a 7.25” Sweet William, that I started building with a friend a while ago unfortunately my friend is no longer able to help, and he was the engineer! I’m no engineer or machinist but I want to pickup the project and try and do it myself, so it’s going to be an interesting task!!! Like you I have some parts already made and some that need repairs or finishing!
Hi Mark, I think that there are many projects like that, most will end up in scrap, which is a shame. Having the desire to finish the project is all you need to get it done, learning how to do it along the way is the fun part, and the finished project at the end is the reward. My suggestion for finishing the Sweet William is having the ability to view a finished one, constantly, then you can refer to it for reference to how it should be, plus most builders are happy to advice. It's what I do on the Tink build, and this one I look after its sister at the club, so I can reference a working one. And there are plenty of us TH-cam channels to watch for inspiration and guidance too! All the best, Matt 👍🚂
Some exciting madcap workshop antics ahead.I am looking forwards to seeing what the final design looks like. Another great vlog. Thanks for sharing Matt. - Fletch -
I think you could have the makings of a "So you bought someone's project." video series. There's a lot of half finished builds out there in need of a new home and they could be a more approachable starting point for some then just a set of drawings a raw castings.
Hi Tim, I really like that idea, thank you, and you are 100% correct there are many part built projects out there. Many that probably will never get finished. All the Best, Matt 👍🚂
Hi Dave, Yeah I’ve seen a few for sale in recent times, hence why I’m going to go completely off drawings when it comes to the bodywork so mine doesn’t look like the rest. Until this year there were 3 at my club, down to two now. All the best, Matt. 👍🚂
Is your first name Glutton Mr Punishment? (More positively, may well be able to provide the ME's covering the build if it would help...) Looking forward to seeing the two builds progressing.
Ohh I'm only just starting 😂, I've got more stupidly impulsive ideas to come!! I have all the ME's..... I acquired a large collection of the magazines...... there is a great number of articles that show the work for a Kerr Stuart Joffre/Haig that I find interesting! 😂 All the best, Matt 👍🚂
I knew you’d say it 😂😂! I’m going mainly for inspiration from, mainly cab, tank profile and smokebox. If I can produce the vision I have in my head for it, I think it could be a bonnie wee thing which is easy to transport around than the Tinkerbell. All the best, Matt 👍🚂
@@MattChiversWorkshop Couldn't resist 😂😂 I've built most of the cab for mine, laser cut them years ago when I couldn't do machining, let me know if you want some sizes. The cutting files are still in our database
Hey up Kev, hope you're well? Yes kinda come early..... its been in the workshop since last year 😂 Will be a bit like your sweet pea build I think. All the best, Matt 👍🚂
Hi Julia, ohh I've definitely run out of space, wait until you see what else I've bought 😂. Maybe I should have gone down the 5" gauge route, these 7 1/4" locos take up a lot of space!! All the best, Matt 👍🚂
Hi Andy, I am fully aware his name is Derek. Everyone I've ever spoken to about him refers to him as DAG, so I assumed he was known as this as a nickname. All the best, Matt
A great project Matt.
Please keep us up to date with the progress.
It's not just the machining but the Journey :)

Looks a fun as a side project from the Tink, all the best with this one

There's a guy in Fleetwood area had an air running chassis and copper boiler kit for sale recently

Looking forward to more content as the project progresses. Also how you complete the build. Thanks..
Thanks David, seems the consensus on this one is a build series…. So looks like it will be a few videos. All the best, Matt 👍🚂
Exciting times ahead!
Ohhh yes!! All the best, Matt 👍🚂
Thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks for watching Craig, All the best, Matt 👍🚂

Hi Matt, Interesting video as always, have you sold those buffers yet? if not how big are they please?
Hi Spicy, no not sold them yet, I'll measure them when I'm next in the workshop. Drop me an email (should be in my bio). All the best, Matt 👍🚂

If you're going to build it, record it and show it!
Hi Mule, it seems your not the only one who's saying that.... All the best, Matt 👍🚂
You can't build a Jubilee 1897 out of that!!

Lots of fun there and another project 😀 you can never have too many unless you run out of space like me 😳
Hi Julia, ohh I've definitely run out of space, wait until you see what else I've bought 😂. Maybe I should have gone down the 5" gauge route, these 7 1/4" locos take up a lot of space!! All the best, Matt 👍🚂
@@MattChiversWorkshop well Matt they are easier to get upstairs for a start and who needs a back bedroom anyway 🤣
😂😂 Well I need my back bedrooms.... the kids live in them 😂😂. And a Britannia is not a light loco to take up stairs, don't put your back out!!
@@MattChiversWorkshop I can’t lift it now and it hasn’t got the boiler fitted 😮 the 3.5” one is quite happy up there though! 🤣
Hi Matt,
Please stop using Dag Brown... his name was Derek.
