If you'd like to check out the previous episode of Reviving My German where I spoke German and we created a gorgeous new activity tracking sheet: th-cam.com/video/5WKJLyNbgfA/w-d-xo.html *HAPPY WEEKEND!* 🎈☀️
i studied korean for over a year and then took a spontaneous 5 year break 😅 i got back into it recently and after about 3 weeks or so of just increasing my immersion i felt that my skills were even better than before. it was as if that long break and the immersion practice helped things marinate and finally stick in my brain. it’s a magnificent feeling!
I feel like I rarely lose much of my passive language abilities, but it's just horrible difficult to find the right words when you speak yourself. If you were once fluent, it doesn't take long to get back into it.
Tschuss! German is one of the languages Im trying to resurrect. I only had 1 semester of German, so I never learned to speak it. But I really like German, so using your language tracker makes it really easy for me. Thanks for doing German!
It seems you have gotten more surefooted already and gained some confidence. The part of the brain that motors the German language has received that little bit of grease that makes everything run smoother. Little words come back and are more readily available. Wishing you continued success. Oh, and the one word you were looking for was 'anschauen' (to look at). Alles Gute und viel Spass!
I thought you were swearing on camera because you lapsed into English but you were just trying to remember a similar sounding German word... (I missed last weeks video so thank you for the clip). I can understand your German and this week's German sounded more or less okay to my ear. Much nicer. I'm impressed just by the fact that you're speaking spontaneously in a foreign language into the camera. I struggle doing that in English.
I feel you. I had German in high school and did an exchange year in Switzerland. I miss speaking german. I want to start over again and even get better. Thanks for inspiration!!
I found this video very motivating. I'm currently learning Spanish but I also want to bring my American Sign Language back up to the low intermediate level I had and then to improve it. I've been learning Spanish for a few months now and am progressing but am still very much a beginner. When and how would you recommend adding ASL to my language learning routine?
A mistake I keep seeing is to use “studieren” as in “study”, with virtually all TH-cam German learners. “studieren” is only used in the context of “studying in university”, or in literal/historical contexts (more “18th century” German ;) like using “tome” instead of “book” in English). The correct word is simply “lernen”. Also, it’s super weird to say “Sie” to your TH-cam audience.
Great yeah there is definitely a difference to the last video, cool, can you do that for Japanese too 🤣 I know I am a bit annoying, sorry. So I think you are right, it definitely depends on how far you got with the language, for me it is easy to get back to Italian but with Japanese I imagine the deterioration would be much quicker because the language is so different from other languages.

I'd say it depends on how good you were when you stopped.
Yep I agree, I made this point in the video 🙂
Even though German is so hard, it lends itself to bring spoken!

Man! I love your videos so much!! You are a great communicator and an amazing content producer!!
Keep up the excellent work!
Deine Aussprache ist echt ziemlich gut. 1:15 "...einen so großen Unterschied merke" wäre besser :)

just start asap. theres no reason why it would conflict imo. go ASL!
You're so encouraging! Where is the content catalogue info?
Are you interested in learning a ancinet lanagauge ?

I wish i can speak like you
I am just afraid that the German will take over my other languages, Russian, ancient Greek and more!
