    I have cleaned the EGR on my Prelude once. You will want to put an O-ring, crush washer, or thread sealant to prevent vacuum leaks. I am running a Euro-R manifold on my H22 now.

    Gonna have to do this next time I clean the ports. Was in a rush bc I had a weird misfire but all the normal culprits checked out fine and then found a Honda bulletin about the EGR ports causing misfires if dirty. Made a weird DIY tool to remove the caps. Guys in my shop all doubted that it would fix the misfire. But boy! That first nice engine rev and smooth idle put a huge grin on my face! Crazy such a small thing had my baby coughing.

    in the process of cleaning and wondered if i could just thread tap and put in bolts.

  • @jonremien235
    @jonremien235 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I'm considering doing this. How come you didn't get smaller brass plugs? Do they make one that fit your tap you used?
    I been after the oem plugs but they are on backorder for quite some time now.

    • @Rawrkee
      @Rawrkee  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Before attempting this, I did very little research on pipe plugs and just got whatever I could find on Amazon. Just make sure you have the correct tap and die on hand. I have metric tap and die sets but used standard sized pipe plug 😆

    • @Rawrkee
      @Rawrkee  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      be super mindful of the metal shavings, I brake cleaned, and used a vaccum to make sure I got everything out. I used m12x1.25, just depends on what size your taps are. The m12x1.25 is an uncommon size, the only thing that comes in that size is the Oil Drain Bolt. m12x1.5 or m12x1.75 may be better options for saving money and finding bolts at your local hardware store

    Not trying to troll but I think you could have just sprayed cleaner in the egr mount opening no? Im sure the plugs helped clean easier but the possible damage could be avoided. Although now that im seeing the end of your video I do like the idea of reusable plugs that screw in and out so maybe just ignore my prior advice Haha. Really tho if a person wasn't installing new plugs then I wouldn't recommend removing them to clean. I do recommend removing and capping the egr altogether and just remove the pipe from header as well and just plug/ weld shut. The check engine light being on all the time is worth it due to the extra room in the motor compartment and possible gains or at least a cleaner burning motor.
