Great vid Jon again!! Would love to see an underwater vid to see how different baits travel in the flow and how hook bait acts at different depths( over depth). 🎣
@@JonArthur we all have that intention after, the event but you go with what you know you should do. I knew perch were finicky but they are a new level. You're so lucky to have that type of water close to you though.
Love this video Jon! Its really interesting to see how they act towards feed and bait at differing levels. Im amazed at the clarity of the water and the video. All the best, Trev.
I absolutely loved it was getting excited every time a perch came in. Would love to see on commercial with float or feeder. But fantastic very innovative. Please keep em coming. Good luck in next match.
Clearly filmed in the bath with a bucket of baby perch... can't wait to see how creative you'll get when you go deeper for the next one... fantastic stuff, Jon..
Great video Jon, nice change to the usual video. Your underwater footage is the clearest I have seen on any of the fishing channels. It's surprising how much the clear water stops the fish from coming in and feeding isn't it. Looking forward to your next video mate 👍
Really interesting Jon. I catch perch down the edge on the Leeds Liverpool canal and always thought that I need to feed quite a bit of bait as the perch are greedy. How wrong I have been all these years. 4:35
HI Jon very interesting as i use worm quite a lot in Summer and having watched the video it seems to ask a lot more more questions than it answers, many of the perch seem to put more effort into avoiding the bait than trying to eat it,all i can conclude is you picked a day when the fish were not very hungry ,anticipate part two, thanks for the incite.
That was interesting a video Jon, I was amazed how long the dropper bait stayed around and wasn’t gobbled up considering how many perch there was down there. Look forward to you doing some more underwater filming its very interesting seeing how fish react to your bait 👍
Strange how the perch feed, thought they would have been a feeding frenzy, would putting a bit of ground bait in at first help them bring them in . Thanks for the video, very interesting to see them feeding 👍
Good points David, yes I expected more of a frenzy! When I visited the river the week before and threw some groundbait in down there they seemed attracted but never really attacked the balls, but it would be worth a try another time, maybe mid-session?
That's spooky Jon, I was fishing at Stratford this Monday myself and saw that exact spot with the clean bottom above the lock whilst stretching my legs at lunch. Thanks for the video! :)
Thanks, it was 10 times busier than the week before when we were there and sadly two boats moored where I ideally wanted to sit, but thats the Rec for you. Crazy place. Surprisingly no dogs clambering over my gear this time! Hope you caught a few
Great footage, interesting to see the number of fish that came into shot but didn't feed much. Bet it give you food for thought watching it and editing.
Nice video Jon. I think that a worm centre hooked either just off the bottom or on the bottom would work. Also I think its to early to decide on if what you did is wright or wrong. I do think to much bait introduced. Interestingly some fish both Roach and Perch took an occassional maggot or caster from the outside of the patch you baited up. Facinating idea and amazing camera shots. Well done. Cheers
Thanks Peter, yes loads of questions and answers and definitely overfed it. Hooking it centrally is called 'wacky style' in soft lure fishing terms and that's something I also thought might be good to try next time.
Absolutely fascinating… the way they suck it in and have a chew.. interesting they only seemed interested the bait that moved or twitched .. that’s the predator I suppose, the fox of the water .. great vid Jon, thoroughly enjoyed it, must of took a bit of setting up 👍🏻 oh by the way, my two year old absolutely loved seeing “Superworm” 👍🏻😂🤣
Great camera footage,if you could get it out where you were catching the big roach at the concert hall stretch it would be fantastic to see that now you have prove of concept,Rudyard res is super clear now and I've been watching some massive shoals of roach, all different sizes but few are getting up to 3 to a lb sort of stamp
The ginger fisherman has just posted a very similar video but he had glasses He wore that linked to the go pro so He was watching in clear water , he had to put a TV coaxial wrapped onto the go pro to link up the three devices as the water blocks the blue tooth otherwise. both videos are fabulous and riveting to watch, thank You.
Interesting video Jon, fish in the peg but not really feeding. It would be interesting, now you’ve seen the footage, if you only put small amount of feed in to start🤷🏼♂️
I thought the same it's amazing how little loose feed I noticed them eat . They seemed more interested in the new piece of worm coming in over the top 👍
The Perch seem quite cagey, most of them pick up bait from the edge of the pile and scoot off. Fun to watch, nice! You could lose hours just watching fish swim around...why is that?
Definitely, but who knew they'd be so picky? If I went back I'd certainly feed much less. I always felt one bait dropper of grub wouldn't look like much on the bottom, so that was probably my biggest surprise and take back.
What makes me laugh is ppl think live maggots go into sink 😂😂😂 iv always known they don't ,so ppl feeding 8pints in match , then only catch well in the last hour, it's because the build up of bait 😂😂😂...
Oh that's a shame considering the effort it took before, during and after to get it done, but I personally felt it was a good first attempt and a learning exercise on both the fishing and camera capabilities
Great vid Jon again!! Would love to see an underwater vid to see how different baits travel in the flow and how hook bait acts at different depths( over depth). 🎣
Cheers Bobbin
Another great video Jon, the view is super clear and gives us a real indication of how perch reacts to bait. Great episode.
Glad you enjoyed it John, next time I will feed less bait!

That was great fun to watch Jon
Glad you enjoyed it
Another great video John keep them coming
Thanks Stephen, will try and do a few more
Thx Jon. Was abit of an eye opener 😱
Cheers for watching
That was very interesting. Gives you a clear picture on how the fish behave.
It was certainly food for thought... or 'too much food' for thought!
I absolutely loved it was getting excited every time a perch came in. Would love to see on commercial with float or feeder. But fantastic very innovative. Please keep em coming. Good luck in next match.
Thanks Terry
Clearly filmed in the bath with a bucket of baby perch... can't wait to see how creative you'll get when you go deeper for the next one... fantastic stuff, Jon..
You know I'm joking, Jon.. so much to gain from this underwater footage... many thanks, looking forward to seeing the next one...
I had to edit out the rubber ducks and plug hole... ;-)
Even my bath isn't that dirty and full of sticks :-)
Great video Jon, busy place, really interesting that they were not so keen when on the bottom
Glad you enjoyed it. Yes they were extra moody on the day. Lot of activity just upstream of me maybe looked them a little too
Great video Jon, nice change to the usual video. Your underwater footage is the clearest I have seen on any of the fishing channels. It's surprising how much the clear water stops the fish from coming in and feeding isn't it. Looking forward to your next video mate 👍
Thanks Stephen, yes it was lovely and clear. Sadly it was also so clear that I had overfed the swm ha ha👍
Brilliant Jon, interesting to see how much the perch mouth the bait before anything registers on the float
Thanks Chris, yes I was surprised how little they actually wanted to eat and wish I'd not fed so much!
Really interesting Jon. I catch perch down the edge on the Leeds Liverpool canal and always thought that I need to feed quite a bit of bait as the perch are greedy. How wrong I have been all these years. 4:35
Thanks Benny, I thunk everything is on the day and conditions play a part, but yes it's made me rethink how much I sometimes feed!
Glad you enjoyed it. Certainly more questions than answers on the day!

Glad you enjoyed it, yes I certainly feed too much in hindsight but expected more greediness
Great video Jon,very interesting to see how the fish behave and seems to go for the movement of live bait .
Thanks for watching 👍
Those little perch are much less aggressive than I'd have thought!
Me too, next time much less bait!!
A fascinating video, thanks for sharing!
Thanks Georgs
That was very intresting so clear great work
Glad you enjoyed it. Just a first foray to see what I can possibly do
Brilliant thanks !
Glad you enjoyed it

Thanks Mike yes so many questions and what ifs afterwards, especially overfeeding!
Looks like a ring on the bottom
The one ring to rule them all?
Nice video Jon. I think that a worm centre hooked either just off the bottom or on the bottom would work. Also I think its to early to decide on if what you did is wright or wrong. Enjoyed that John .. did you ever see Dave smiths 3 + perch from that very stretch last winter... 😂
Never saw it but know there are some monsters in there. We caught one last year that would've been a three 'if' it had a belly, but it was so thin.
That is ridiculously clear!
Yep, perfect for filming uncooperative perch!
Cheers. Superworm strikes again!
loved that but realised how finicky fish actually are you had loads of bait down there but they really only went for the moving bait
Yes they were surprisingly fickle when I expected more of a frenzy!
They were certainly not like piranhas on the day!
Thanks mate, yes I'd certainly like to do a few more things, but without forking out on a diver and film crew! :-)
Cool John 👍
Thanks Mark

Thanks Kevin, I watch hardly any other fishing vids these days but might actually have a look for that one if I ever get the time
Great footage, but can’t believe it you didn’t catch the stick 😂😂
The one that got away! It was almost as unhungry as the fish!
Totally agree. I always thought one of my small/medium baitdroppers wasnt a great deal of bait
Yes and never saw one take anything bottom right of the screen
Amazing, clever little beggers...
Cheers Dave :-)
The Perch seem quite cagey, most of them pick up bait from the edge of the pile and scoot off. Fun to watch, nice!
You could lose hours just watching fish swim around...why is that?
Glad you enjoyed watching it :-)
I think you got a bit carried away with the bait straight away
Yep, clearly in hindsight. The old adage you can put it in but you can't take it out sprang to mind, but expected them to be hungrier :-)
bit too much bait at the start?
Definitely, but who knew they'd be so picky? If I went back I'd certainly feed much less. I always felt one bait dropper of grub wouldn't look like much on the bottom, so that was probably my biggest surprise and take back.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐👍

Yes I've watched maggots in clear water and they rarely disappear. Maybe the fish bury them a bit when they start kicking the silt up though?
Not one of your best videos Jon
Oh that's a shame considering the effort it took before, during and after to get it done, but I personally felt it was a good first attempt and a learning exercise on both the fishing and camera capabilities
