@@awepizza It is annoying, but apple claims the reason they software lock the components is so that theives cannot resell a stolen phone for parts, which is the biggest selling point of a stolen phone ever since you could software lock the phone from "Find My" when it is stolen. I think that is a good point to consider

All this satisfaction is then ruined by all scratchy bits on his videos. And this is not neat picking. It's a genuine thing and lots of other people have it. That was one of, if not THE most satisfying battery pull tab removal I've seen (and heard) on this channel.
The EU has mandated user-removable batteries in all cellphones no later than year 2027.
In three years time, there will be no need anymore for glue solvent, pull tabs and all other tricks&traps to replace a weak battery.

You know its Apple when the phone literally has a dedicated space for SIM card storage expansion, but instead they fill it with a pointless metal block.
Not the same thing but the S24 and S24+ are sold with the Exynos chip anywhere outside of USA and they have worse battery life, performance and get slightly toasty sometimes plus the photos pretty diffrent.

The rubber rings usually have a sensing switch, and an actuator electromagnet that sends the ball back from where it come. May be this is a toy version and it has the visuals without the functionality...

Loved the sound of the battery tape being removed. It is good to see that Apple is getting into recycling, as well as reparability, although the pricing needs a little work.

Every year tens if not hundreds of millions of still perfect working Apple devices are being needlessly sent to the scrap heap, simply because of being icloud locked.

Sure, some are obtained as stolen goods. But a vast majority are simply the iphones, macbooks, ipads etc. which have been discarded by it's original owners when they upgrade to a newer model. It was really eyepopping to see on a right to repair video
I saw a few months back, numerous plastic containers filled to the brim with perfectly good iPhones which cannot be utilised once again as they have all being activation locked & either bricked or potentially bricked

It's really amazing if you think about it how this phone is so amazingly modular and beautifully repairable if Apple just pulled their head out of their ass just a tiny bit.

if i remember correctly it does, someone put an eu phones sim tray inside the us model 14 pro and i’m pretty sure it worked fine, they just put a piece of plastic in the slot

It actually cost more to mine the materials from existing devices both financially and in time it takes, space is needed for the very specialised equipment, extra staff and energy etc. Apple have designed and developed the equipment and process needed to keep it in house so very innovative.

Hey Zack! I think I figured out why the 15 PM back glass broke on you bend test. As far is I can tell from your teardown videos there is an aluminium plate glued to the back glass of the 15 (plus and regular) whereas the back plate on the 15 PM sits is in the frame of the phone. This would be an ' amoured glass' providing the glass with a safety net agains bending(maybe locking out sooner than normal glass) compared to the 15 PM where there might be just a thin sliver of nothing between the two materials. I guess the surface of the 15 pro is just too small to be bended(like bending a small pice of the same metal compared to a larger piece). I see it as a design flaw people would have to live with. Amazing content as always. Thank you and we'll see you around.

I find it funny that the Backglass on the 15 Pro Models are not software blocked anymore which Phone Repair Guru had shown, but the Backglass on the Base 15 Models is still software locked.
Like they aren't even trying to hide the fact that they want you to get the Pro Models anymore...

I’m glad you’re taking the time to consider other phones. Great time to pass along some information about Samsung (and Motorola’s) flip phones directly from an AT&T representative (not me, an acquaintance of mine). He told me tell everyone to beware of those phones . They are trendy and cute and oh, the click when it closes! But after about a year a line develops across the screen where the phone bends, and Samsung and Motorola give their customers hell every time they try to use their warranty to repair or replace it. It’s a mess!

Excited to see what you feel after using an iPhone for 6 months. One of my friends said he would die before switching to iPhone but eventually he did, and never went back to Samsung. Don’t really understand the tribalism when it comes to what slab of glass and metal you use, but he took it pretty seriously, so it was very funny when he switched and found he preferred Apple
