I’m so glad that you’ll get some jazz under your fingers with the video! The series continues every week so if there are any jazz standards you want me to cover, just let me know!
There's something funny about putting tabs on a fretless instrument's transcription. I cant sight read very well as a self taught electric bassist but it struck me as funny
I get it, I had this same thought before I started the series. As someone who plays both electric and upright bass, I wanted to connect with players on both instruments in these videos. I play the lines on upright because I do feel like there’s something in the sound of the upright bass that helps solidify the feel of walking. But I don’t want notation to get in the way of electric bassists playing these lines. So that’s why I’ve got the tabs. One of these days, I’ll do one of these videos walking on electric - I love playing jazz on electric too!
@@chipboazmusic upright is definitely the "mental sound" of walking bass, you can kind of approximate it in a mix but I'm sure in person/playing its gonna be very very different. Love the channel, these smaller educational slanted channels are waaaaaaaay better than the people who rely on this as their livelihood
@nathanlee1161 Yea, I agree, upright is the sound that most people associate with jazz. I love walking on electric though; personally I think it swings just as hard. And thanks, glad you’re enjoying the channel - I’m having a ton of fun putting together videos!
Thanks for the work you put into this, it will definitely help me develop my licks!

You bet! I love putting together these walking bass videos - glad you’re enjoying them!
That was great!
Thanks! I’ve always thought that this is such a fun tune to walk on. It has its challenges, but that’s part of the fun!
