Great script. So much more than a police series. Hylda Baker's expressions and movements brought a twinkle to everything she was in. And her son Norbert, a confirmed bachelor. And the tailor and assistant Cyril taking the inside leg measurement. Bedford vans like the one Norbert is driving used to be everywhere, before they were replaced by the Ford Transit.
Better: huh. Not better for all these women inside all day with pinnies on, no money of their own, no escape from bad marriages because they could not earn a living wage and leaving a husband was social disgrace. Lots to be thankful for now. Though, yes, I miss some things too.
I was around back then and it was no better than today: we had problems then, just as we have them now. At least you still had the people who mattered to you, people you didn't know you'd missso much when you'd lost them.
The Kiter, Season 3, Episode 8, aired 23 October 1963. That old 1928 three litre Rolls Royce was still knocking about in 1988 according to DVLA records.
PH6297 was it's reg.
What a find. Loved Hylda Baker.
Thank you so much, I knew I had seen her in many things her name the tip of my tounge...Cheers x
'one titled owner .... only 490 guineas.' Very funny episode. Thank you A. Anarchist, for these treasures.
Wonderful old stuff from a much simpler and better time.

Birdsong i love that ! You rarely hear that now 50 plus years later
I thought Z-Cars was all car chases etc. This is comedy, and very funny! Great character actors (except they keep cracking up)
How good it must have been to have been alive in 1962 a year I was not around in until 1969
So after 1969 you were around in 1962? How puzzling.
I was 3
I was around in 1962 although fairly young. I wish I could time travel back to then.
The good thing about 1962 was that the (rotten) future years hadn't happened yet.
The Lancashire 'KTJ' plate on the 'Zephyr' crime car would have been issued at least a decade before the car was made.
Brillant with Hilda Baker
Thanks for posting
wow is that hylda baker ? how fab
Superb script and acting. Very funny.

Amazing cast with many names later known better in their own right.
@@johnclayden1670 One reward of minding the cast is the trove of trivia one pulls out.
I'm impressed!
I was 10 when this was going he he
I wish you'd turn the flag around so it's not upside down!
Great episode, marred only by the Flag stuck in the corner !
I wonder did inspector Columbo get his coat from this character playing the robber super fab episode
@patdoyle3686 That was Dermot Kelly (Gus), famous for playing a tramp in the The Arthur Haynes Show (TV Series 1956-1966)
@@mtsenskmtsensk5113Haynes replaced his stooge Nicholas Parsons with Kelly who was soon out of a job after Haynes dropped dead at 52 in 1966.
I don't believe anyone would have fallen for that scam.
40.02 The Mekon!
Wasn't Hylda Baker wonderful!
Thank you for putting these Z Car eps. up.
Why though, do you have to have the large Union Jack pasted on the top of these precious videos?
insecurity
TH-cam tend not to pull videos with such things.
Because it needs to be displayed more often. To me, seeing the union flag, makes the video more enjoyable!
@@gramule how so?
And it’s upside down!
funny
