When you know the deeper part of how Morrisons dad was solely responsible for laying the tracks that brought the Vietnam war into fruition. You realize he didn’t put that there just for the sound
1:12:29 the main thing when you're deployed to a war is you never have affection and seldom have genuine happiness. The USO is such a big deal because you're having that and for sure you're not going to die that day because you're in a safe area like BIAP in Iraq where I was at the time.
Such a great movie, I only watched it for the first time recently and knowing all the obstacles they had on and off set is crazy considering how amazing this film is. I would like to sneak in that for me personally Saving Private Ryan is my favourite war film and I will die on that hill aha. Recently discovered you guys and it's always a good listen, cheers lads.
This is my all time favourite film, an absolute masterpiece. However, there were a couple of things you didn’t mention After making a big spectacle of giving the dying man water, Kilgore suddenly couldn’t care less about the guy when he realises that he’s in the presence of Lance. Following the shooting on the boat, Phillips says that they will transport the wounded woman to an aid station, but Willard just shoots her dead and says to Philips “I told you not to stop this boat”. This scene demonstrates just how ruthless and cold blooded Willard really is.
I almost hope You never see this but I am a huge fan from the beginning I’m 22 and probably a good but I’ve always loved Apocalypse now and all it’s facts or hidden meanings and stuff and I love and appreciate ur understanding of the film even though I’m not done with the episode you guys obviously appreciate the film the way I do we love those coked up Gs and also I don’t know if you have explored the dehumanization of man in the movie but I love this podcast keep it up its great keep killing it and even though I’m a die hard fan I just love this talk of a beloved important film! I know it’s not a pro war film but I love that you tell it all don’t change ur understanding of the film for the modern perceptions
The doors is my favourite band ever and this film is a perfect example of their unparalleled ability to create atmosphere through thier sound
