京都・祇園で「事始め」（2023年12月13日 京都市東山区） “Kotohajime（＝Starting things）” in Gion, Kyoto

京都の花街や旧家が迎春の支度を始める恒例行事「事始め」が2023年12月13日、京都市内であった。花街では着物姿の芸妓や舞妓たちが「おめでとうさんどす」と、芸事の師匠やお茶屋をあいさつに回った。
京都市東山区の京舞井上流家元で人間国宝の井上八千代さんの稽古場には、午前10時ごろから祇園甲部の芸妓や舞妓が続々と訪れた。
On December 13, 2023, Kyoto City held an annual event called ``Koto Hajime,'' in which Kyoto's red-light districts and old families begin preparations for New Year's greetings. In the red light district, geisha and maiko dressed in kimono went around greeting arts masters and teahouses, saying ``Congratulations Sandos.''
Starting around 10 a.m., geishas and maikos from Gion Kobu flocked to the training studio of Yachiyo Inoue, a Living National Treasure and head of the Kyomai Inoue family in Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto City.
