    I had another episode lined up and ready to go for yesterday, but a viewer hit me up with a really important question: "How do I Make Money Welding At Home???" Because of what is going on with people losing their jobs, I felt like I needed to help in any way I could. Even if it was completely spitballing ideas on something I'm BARELY qualified to speak on- I really just wanted to help.
    *I am NOT a business or tax specialist- please take this video as encouragement or motivation, not business advive.*
    Starting a Welding Business IS possible, and as welders, we tend to have options in a skill that is always needed, it seems to be a matter of getting ideas and structuring it in a way that we can Make Money Welding, and in today's current state, it would be pretty awesome to Make Money Welding At Home! So give this episode a casual listen, I really just wanted to encourage and help someone who hit me up with a good question.
    I sincerely hope everyone is cool out there!:)

    It’s funny how regional this is, where I live every other person is a welder. Also be careful what services you offer, building things such as ramps or lifting devices could potentially open yourself up to liability claims, unless you have liability insurance to protect yourself you could lose everything in one lawsuit.

    • @PacificArcTigWelding
      @PacificArcTigWelding  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Wise advice Don. Like I said I don’t speak to business laws or tax stuff. Just drumming up some ideas for some people who were curious for ideas:) Good to look at business laws and liability stuff specific to where you live. Our provinces vary so much from one to another, amazing to see how much rules change 😂I appreciate you reaching out! Cheers my friend 🍻

    I’ve been welding only for about 6 months using an everlast 185. Only the TIG...but I’ve found that it reallly helped me learn mig as well...puddle control. This is a really fun video...best advice for me was to just introduce ourselves to people. Be social...just walk in and ask for some drops and tell them what you’re really interested in. I don’t get work that pays me...but advice from pros that really helps me move along. As a computer game nerd...the social thing is deff out of my comfort zone...but...can’t get drops unless I go talk to people haha! So the social aspect happens and I’m sure it’ll pay off one day.

    • @PacificArcTigWelding
      @PacificArcTigWelding  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Dude yes! Puddle control is something that needs a keen eye and feel. Great you learning both! Tig helps a lot IMO. If it makes you feel any better I’m a PlayStation game nerd haha. But always great to chop it up with someone over a trade you both love. You’ve already got a common language with a total stranger 🍻

    A good one to get into if you dont mind re work, is fixing semi truck fuel tanks! guys always have leaky tanks and you can band them for them at a 100$ bucks a strap two straps average per tank is good money for 2-3 hours of work, Advertise for repairs people always break stuff and local companies charge big $$ for it because no one wants to do it, if you can undercut abit and get your foot in the door the work will come by itself, im slowly getting there 👍

    My dad, brother and i did this starting in 2010 working out of a one stall garage i couldnt really fit my jetta in. I ventured off and got a full-time was a superviser at 23, while dad just quit his job and my brother is in college. We now have 26 Employees and do work for the government, New York fire department things that get shipped overseas. I still take care of the community and doing repairs and custom builds. But knowing where we came from and seeing the contracts we have now it just feels amazing. A dad skips is rent payment to buy a welder and here we are today. "T&A Welding & Custom Fab" if your thinking about doing it do it. BUT know your shit and you need friends. Ill say that again you need friends. We still cant get anything from the bank 😡. But its ok its been a real grind. You gotta be all in. My new buliding cost 500k. Stay humble stay motivated. And stay open to new ideas.

    The key to creating something to sell is that everything that has been thought of is being done by some to many. The key to finding your niche is LOVE what you do so its no longer WORK. So if you think competition will stop you cold. It will. If you believe you can do something better, different, faster, funner, and more often...you can! Branding, Marketing, Advertising. Are the 3 keys to a successful business. Online marketing is a huge learning curve to be able to do yourself. Trust me. It is much faster to hire someone to do the marketing while you do the ART. If you are doing it all you are not running a business successfully. Your business is running you. :)

    This is exactly my mentality! I quit my job at AutoZone right after I was hired as a welder/fabricator for an agriculture farm shop. It was the best decision I've made in my life so far! At 19, I've finally landed my dream job. Unfortunately, my college went remote. I'm glad I took as much business and welding classes as I could during my first year. Now I'm making $14.50 vs $13 (minimum) at AZ. I would take the 50 hours a week vs the 25 that I used to get. I just completed 1 month, and this is the motivation I needed! My son is learning how to MIG weld and is interested in getting into welding AC tig aluminum, and we are curious if AC Tig is dangerous from the standpoint of getting shocked? We have a friend who tried to learn AC Tig welding and was getting shocked when learning and gave up, but is this something to worry about, or do you have tips to avoid getting shocked? We really enjoy the channel and thank you for teaching. Thanks

    • @PacificArcTigWelding
      @PacificArcTigWelding  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey John! If the machine is setup properly and safety warnings are read for each machine you use, you can minimize risk for sure. Dry gloves, no holes in long sleeve shirts etc, but there always is a small risk. I’d definitely recommend watching some vids on general safety, and you can see the most common ways people could get hurt. I myself can’t wait to teach my kids as well, and will make sure they’re safe with good ventilation and will be stoked to see them buzzing away someday:)
