How this never won Eurovision baffles me. This was by far the best song in the contest in 2006 and is one of the all time best ever eurovision songs. This not winning is a massive injustice. This is my fave ever Eurovision song.
Lordi is kinda iconic for me so I personally prefer that song over carola. Mostly because I grew up with the song, but I do think they did deserve that win, because relistening to the song I still think it is good.
Because while it's sung well and it's a good song, it's like every other song from that era, Lordi was not only well played, a good song, but at that point in the competition it was unique, nothing like it had ever happened before.
I was 16 when I saw her win her first eurovision song contest, Främling, when she was 16 too! I'll remember that for the rest of my life. 🥰 I'm soon to be 53 y.o.

It is beyond me why the music video had to include unsightly antennae, rooftops, incandescent bulbs and back alleys. 🤷
i wanna see carola perform for Sweden one last time on the ESC can it be possible? and oke thats my opinion i think she's more beautiful than she was in the eighties and early nineties

"No way, carola was hårdrockare? she does have a voice that would fit hard rock tho" Carola liked and likes rock n roll and hard rock and some heavy metal actually, it's just a recording for fun with some friends. She was very young, obviously. Not a good recording and she had not reached peak voice yet. (One guy in this recording later was in Ace of Base and one dude went on to join Hammerfall).. And it was frustrating for them to be compared to ABBA, which of course no debut artist is going to be able to match. Many pop artists joined hard rock/metal bands to have a chance to tour and play live music in Sweden during the 80s, it wasn't consired weird to enjoy both genres here during that time. Many 80s Swedish hårdrockare became pop songwriters in the 90s. Max Martin being the most successful example.
The best song of Eurovision 2006 by far, Carola should have won for Sweden. It was much much much better than Lordi's Hard Rock Hallelujah which won that year for Finland.

It didn't win because it's so over-the- top. Cringy almost.
