I will start by saying, I am no mechanic. I do however do all my own vehicle maintenance and have for 8 or 9 years now. I am almost finished replacing the 8hp70 on my ram 1500, and although your videos cover this Trans in a different car, the information you provide has been so awesome and helpful along the way. Having the FSM is nice, but there are procedures in there that way easier said than done, and it's nice to have a mechanic share his tips and tricks to work through it!
Question, pulled my 3.6l engine, when i reinstalled it i did not really pay attention to the flexplate holes in relation to the torque converter. tightened the bell housing bolts and now when i rotate the crank to line up the flexplate/torque converter holes the torque converter holes never show up. (Seems like the torque converter is already against the flexplate) should there be room between the plate and converter? Can i just loosen the bell housing bolts and get the room i need to line up the holes or is the torque converter just slightly pulled out from the transmission? Also, do I have to match up the original holes from flexplate to torque converter for balance or any holes are ok? Thanks. just redid the rockers and lifters with the help of your video.
I have a 2014 5.7 Jeep I bought the bolts for the torque converter but I need the right nuts but I need thinner one I believe and don’t know what to do
I got two reman from parts department at dodge dealer i work at one shift flare the second one making noise and leaking out convertor and now dosent even shift correctly either so now they gotta give me a new one
wat up big bruh J.T., great vid, what kind of bolts or what kind of sockets did you use to take off the cross member under the zf trans pan (I'm tryin to get to those pan T40 screws to do a zf trans service)?
Brotha man i have a 2013 dodge charger rt 5.7 i got a 2016 8hp 70 8speed i heard it will bolt right up dont need anything other then pcm tcm flash and wiring harness or is that a lie hit me up when you get the chance thanks
JT. Another great video. Did you get my messenger message about my son's Charger. Would like you to work on it or at least diagnose it for him. I am subscribed and have watched dozens of your past videos. Thank you for your great videos.
If you're removing it, how do you think it will stay up there while you put the other mount in ? Transmission is bolted to engine that is sitting on rubber mounts...not hard to figure out what will happen when you hang the transmission only on one side without support.
I've got a 14 ram, 3.6 with the 8 speed. It's got torque shudder problems. Kicking it out of 8th and running in 7th gear normally keeps it from doing that annoying vibration. Do you think I need the torque converter or the whole transmission?
@@OnlineMechanicTips yes I am. Your videos have helped me on my 3.6 with the stupid ticking noise and the thermostat. I'll look to see of the scan tool has that option. I'm thinking about buying the autel maxicom.
@@OnlineMechanicTips I'm not sure if this works or not, but I pulled the codes from the cluster using the on/off on the key a couple of times until the codes come up. I've also used just a basic code reader. The only code showing up is the oil pressure code cause of the stupid sensor.
@@OnlineMechanicTips doing a motor swap on a Durango, loved the fact that there’s so much involved in getting starter out, but I didn’t drop the rack, and the TC bolts felt like they were long as hell, ratchet only got like two swings and then gotta finger spin it for 3 mins to get it out 😂
Details about what? I dont do tutorial videos where I call out every bolt and tool. I pretty much assume if you trying to remove a trans, you likely have a basic understanding already.
@@OnlineMechanicTips ohhh okay I see.....this a vlog channel? I was looking into 300 Trans swaps for a car I was looking at buying and this video popped up
You probably have to order the parts out of Germany, aren't they German designed and built? If Mercedes or some other manufacturer uses the same transmission you can probably get the parts through them.
They're used in BMWs and Jaguars not sure what other imports. The ones in Chrysler products are made here but it's ZF technology and are identical for the most part with the Euro made ones.

Thanks for the vid. I'm trying to pull a V6 from a Jeep Wrangler and can only get a wrench on the flexplate bolts, but they are not turning.
if i have to pull a 3.6l from grand cherokee, Would it be easier to pull it with transmission attached and then separate the trans from engine? Thanks
You will get a different answer from everybody. I have done both ways but because of different reasons. Hard to say which way easier my guy
How much coolant leaks when u disconnect the lines? Is its gonna drain the whole system or just a few quarts?
Not much at all
transmission fluid doesn't really fill the lines like coolant does. while the engine's not running, most of the transmission fluid settles to the pan

Do you think these are reliable?
What went wrong on this one? How many miles?
did the flex plate have a flat sided hole to start with for alignment?
Is that trans a relabel or reman
A reman by some after market company

I did quick learn flash tcm wit latest software

Yo I’m on my way to become a transmissions tech, I wanted to kno if Chrysler overhauls/rebuilds costumer units?
Not at our dealer..That is a dealer call.
Chrysler sends them out to get rebuild. Parts are hard to get for these transmissions.
Do you have to program the tcm??
Yes
How many bellhousing bolts on that. Thanks

Another option would be to drop the oil pan.
Thats not a very wise option.
