I rode this the year it opened, and it was my first launched coaster ever. The first several seconds of this ride are so disorienting! You're pressed to your seat from the launch through the Cobra Roll and Sidewinder, and wherever you look there's supports and darkness... it's really hard to tell which way is up. Also, the speed at the end of the ride is PERFECT for that corkscrew, you feel weightless
I rode this about a week after it first opened and have many rides on it since. My nine year old daughter currently regards this as her favorite coaster because “it’s so dark and unique”. I’ve heard that this ride uses over 3,000,000 watts during the launch and Siemens installed a capacitor bank to prevent brown outs. The mcbr kind of kills the momentum, but that’s about our only complaint. We ride it every trip. Love this ride!!
Okay, I have been on this ride several times. I know, a 100%, that break lag didn't happen at least one time I was riding it; WE FREAKIN FLEW the rest of the ride!!!! It was amazing. I remember it distinctly, because my friend and I went on the ride later, and when the break did happen it freaked us out. We thought the ride was broken, and didn't go on it again that day.
This is the only coaster that actually worries me with the head choppers. It's pretty dark in there so you can never know exactly how close they are to you!
I got a case of Whip Lash on this ride (being hard headed) but it's so fun. I should've kept my neck firmly within the neck brace/headrest upon take off.
I rode this the year it opened and it beat us up real good! My head was thrown back and forth, hitting up against the head-pads over and over. It is the first and only coaster where I had to sit down on a bench for a while immediately after riding. Nauseous.
I am only ten and I rode this with cousin, mom, and my step sister and my cousin sat next to me and she hit her head on the side while Ialmost got whiplash which I didn’t like but we got on it again and nothing happened but I say that really was the flight of fear that I have ever been on!
UnofficialDrake Poltergeist is one of my overall favorite coasters. I haven't ridden it as an indoor coaster at KI or KD. I had no idea there was a MCBR there. That would kill the 2nd half. Plus, the visuals are so amazing, this needs to be an outdoor coaster. And Poltergeist is faster, launching at 60 instead of 54. So odd that Six Flags did it right and Cedar Fair did it wrong. I'm sure I'll still enjoy it when I visit KI & KD this summer, just not as much as Poltergeist.
Does anyone know a lot about roller coaster physics? I'm curious - last time I went on this it was really, really rough. Is that perhaps a result of it being so extremely confined and not having space to stretch out or is it more a result of being an older ride?
Are you a taller person? When did you ride? Generally taller people dont do to well on coasters. Also, if you rode when it had over the shoulder restraints, it is better now
Looks awesome! My mom and her friend hated it because they said it jars you around a lot. But it's my girlfriend's favorite. Does it jar you around a lot if you keep your head back? Because I want to ride it with her. :)
last time i tried to ride they updated the safety belt on the side of the car from retractable ones to non retractables... i am officially too fat for it now :( oh well banshee is better
Michael Wells the last I rode it was summer of 2018 and I weighed around 260 lbs. I was able to get the seat belts and stuff on no problem but when it launched it took the breath out me and it wasn’t until the first brake point before I could catch my breath. By the end of the ride I thought I was going to pass out. After I got off at the station I just sat down against the wall until I could get my breath back. I was in full panic mode by rides end.
So does it feel like you’re going to fall out with just that lap bar I just got over my fear of roller coasters that go upside down and want to maybe ride this
Not at all. Since this is indoors in the dark, you might not even realize that you went upsidedown. There is a seatbelt in addition to the lap bars, for added security. I like inversions on coasters, but I don't like over the shoulder restraints, because of headbanging. This ride is perfect for me: 4 inversions and lap bars. I've ridden the outdoor version of this at Fiesta Texas, and that's one of my overall favorite coasters.

best ride ever to work at, love my crew and the job
If u ride in the front when you brake for the first time, if you look down you'll see a glimpse of the old king cobra cars
Mod course, of final break run
Yeah and they kinda built a small mini coaster behind the ride with the tracks from the ride
When you are riding it it seems like you are going 200mph, but seeing it like this, it's slower than molasses in January.
might be because nobody's on it
Cause it's all in the dark so you don't know what to expect
+Chef Danger cause the dark makes it seem faster
In sight it seems slow, but once you are on it, it seems fast. It is a fast ride though.
They slowed it way down from when it first opened

what makes this ride so good is the fact that it's so dark
my dad said you only go upside down once! he lied but now it Is my favorite ride
I rode this ride... it was so intense.. on a scale 1 to 10 I'll give it a 8
FYI when you take off you go 60 miles so keep your head back so you don't slam it into the back of the seat it hurts really bad😂
54
I did that on the TTD. Theres still a bruise on my head...
I figured that out the hard way.

It’s cause the ride is old enough that the trims are timer based, so with an empty train those brakes still fire for the same amount of time
This is the only coaster that actually worries me with the head choppers. It's pretty dark in there so you can never know exactly how close they are to you!
I have the same worry. The coaster seems so compact.
Actually funny story when I first went on FOF I could not see absolutely anything so i was ducking the whole time 😭😭
took the definition of twister to a new level lol
I unintentionally called this ride a big bowl of spaghetti, didnt know it was called that legit.
I got a case of Whip Lash on this ride (being hard headed) but it's so fun. I should've kept my neck firmly within the neck brace/headrest upon take off.
since when did i do all of inversions i didn't fell any of that well some of it
holy cow I am brave with the lights off. I think everyone should ride this ride. ( I am in my early teens)
So this is what Flight of Fear looks like. I have to say, not bad.
this ride goes upside down ? I rode it like 4 times and never new it went upside down because it was always dark , lol
Surely you knew the last part was a corkscrew, it's lit with a blue/purple light and what gives the ride that satisfying finish.
Aleceia Baker yeah. I couldn't tell if I was upside down or not but I could tell we were pretty high up
Now if only we could at least have only a trim from those brakes in the middle.. It ruins the ride.
Yeah
I’ve ridden a ride like this in Six Flag Fiesta Texas, and that was not enclosed and also did not have the mid course brakes.
the flight of fears are the only ones that have an mcbr, the other three do not. the one in china ran at an even faster speed apparently
It is likely that KI wanted to lower the intensity slightly or they wanted to add more trains
I rode this the year it opened and it beat us up real good! My head was thrown back and forth, hitting up against the head-pads over and over. It is the first and only coaster where I had to sit down on a bench for a while immediately after riding. Nauseous.
Yes, my friend and I were hurting after this ride!! I rode it around 2003, I think. The take off launch scared the crap out of me!
Was there last weekend and rode this 4 times . Definitely on my top 3 of all time ! She's a BAD BI*CH ! I hope it's around for years to come !
I am only ten and I rode this with cousin, mom, and my step sister and my cousin sat next to me and she hit her head on the side while Ialmost got whiplash which I didn’t like but we got on it again and nothing happened but I say that really was the flight of fear that I have ever been on!
keep your head back next time lil dude, then no whiplash lol. i was riding flight of fear at kings island at your age too!
is it faster with people on it?
Knexcarnivalrides it is launched 0 to 54mph in 4 seconds. It is also dark when people are riding so the fear factor is increased
Forever wishing for the Mid course brakes to be removed, although the launch would probably be slower it would make for a great intense second half.
They use the MCBR in order to have more than 2 trains on the ride track
Drummermattk Poltergeist doesn't have a MCBR and yeah that second half is intense
UnofficialDrake Poltergeist is one of my overall favorite coasters. I haven't ridden it as an indoor coaster at KI or KD. I had no idea there was a MCBR there. That would kill the 2nd half. str8edgeskater lmk what you think when you go I haven't been to KI or KD
@@OklahomaCoasterFan cedar fair didn't do wrong Paramount did it wrong
yeah because its identical to them. They are all the same model of coaster built by Premier.
Does anyone know a lot about roller coaster physics? I'm curious - last time I went on this it was really, really rough. Is that perhaps a result of it being so extremely confined and not having space to stretch out or is it more a result of being an older ride?
It usually has to do with the track integrity, or the space in between the train's wheels and the Coaster track.
Are you a taller person? When did you ride? Generally taller people dont do to well on coasters. Also, if you rode when it had over the shoulder restraints, it is better now
Stunning
how do they know which supports they've checked when they do inspections? are they each labeled?
I’m from the uk 🇬🇧 but I would love to go to kings island
I didn't think this ride was all that great until I rode 1st seat
This is like space mountain on steroids asome roller coaster
I love that ride it's my favorite
Look up jokers jinx. Same exact ride at six flags -- outside.
Looks a lot like Poltergeist at SFFT and Jokers Jinx at SFA.
Looks awesome! My mom and her friend hated it because they said it jars you around a lot. But it's my girlfriend's favorite. Does it jar you around a lot if you keep your head back? Because I want to ride it with her. :)
A little
Keep your head back and you should be fine.
I almost fell out of this ride, before the first loop when we were going out my seat was wobbling then I heard a random click.
MM813Vlogs that's just the train and that's called hangtime
GP
there is one at Kings Island which is in Ohio and the other one is at Kings Dominions which is in Virginia
My sister said it wouldn't go upside down but it did and I cried
it looks quite tame actually
This ride doesn't go backwards ? When I rode it and it stopped for a second, I swear it felt like we went backwards..
brooklynn pressley just to set up the launch
Love that ride!!!
I always thought is was like tower of terror two or something...
Amazing!
He didn't ask where it was though. :/
last time i tried to ride they updated the safety belt on the side of the car from retractable ones to non retractables... i am officially too fat for it now :( oh well banshee is better
you can always lose some weight lol
ChrisG- I've dropped nearly 100 pounds since that comment. Im about 215 now. Hopefully I've lost enough 😂😂😂😂😂
I know this is an old comment, but that's awesome! Keep it up!
Its okay

str8edgeskater thanks I’m going on may 12 for a school choir trip
This looks just like the flight of fear at kings dominion
Bailey Batts this is the flight of fear at kings dominus if you read the title
I see a cobra roll
Empty train goes Weeeeeeeeeee
We could also argue that he/she "didn't not" ask where it was.. but that seems as if it would be a waste of our time...
I mean its
The launch is 60 mph keep your head back and to think I rode this cause it was in the dark I was afraid of coasters
its 54
Wobly supports are a big no no at Kings Island.
This is the first thing I ride when going to Kings Dominion
