i tend to call stories "framings", and try to discern which, if any, of the framings i hold are useful for what my goals are. framings with more direct utility to my goals i try to keep around, and those with less utility i try to discard. the whole notion of being in a human body is itself a frame of reference. that tends to be a useful framing if one holds the goal of taking care of their human vehicle :D

With Nothing to support your experience. lets say you came into this world and make an amazing contribution or impact good or not so good for all to see. Oh, Lord! The terror of being blown around in the present moment. It has its charms in passing, but we have our own stories in the big story. You can hardly think of yourself without thinking some kind of story to sail by. And there is always the big story and all the deceptions swirling around it. Your story makes roles for other people and casts many others out altogether, no doubt, even when you are in the moment. The big story attempts to define you and put you to work in it, so you need to have a grasp on it, and you need to know when it is influencing you - even when it invades your present moment. I like to have a firm handle on the big story so I can use the other hand at all times. Even in the present. Jesus talked about building your house on a rock. The scriptures urge us not to be blown around like the chaff, in the wind, seeking every opportunity and every advantage and running from every fear and doubt. You don't just stand tough in a place, but on a principle. Only your standing can make it real in the world. But it isn't something always coming at you in the present moment. A clash of principles comes from the past and aims at the future. You don't bring the kingdom of heaven to earth by seeking it in the present moment, or you are bound to be disappointed a lot. The story of your life is about coming from somewhere and going to somewhere. It's best if your daily decisions are informed by the whole picture. Otherwise, you will be found blowing around in the chaos of the moment, moods up and down, goals and goalposts changing, competition getting nasty, resources scarcer, running out of fuel and looking for a place to make an emergency landing. Even the biggest emergencies in the present look like temporary diversions and amusements from the point of view of the whole trip, or the big picture. Even welcome and pleasant diversions. That's the moment - a pleasant diversion for the fun of it along a more serious and long journey.
Even nature is bathed in the richness of time. There is nothing like a very big old three, or the bubbling of a stream. When I was five years old and well over fifty five, I heard the same sounds in the forest. The frogs and crickets, the birds, and mice rustling in the leaves. Nature's perpetual soundtrack. I could imagine an Indian standing on the same spot five hundred years ago and hearing the same sounds. And I could always count on finding them there. There is something beautiful about standing in the present moment and in so many memories - something even universal in the experience. I liked to think out of the present moment to analyze the workings of the stream over countless years. In a relationship, doesn't the future become a present consideration? What a drag when people ask you about your future, right?

( I’m 18) and I think like this and have been living presence and oneness for quite a while now, it’s become somewhat of a way of being for me, yet I find having somewhat of a ‘character’ of myself to play at times is helpful. If stories hold us together, does language enslave us? or at least is language that which took us away from natural truth? I have gotten messages from plants. I was "told" that if i cut the bonsai wires off of my plants, that i would be given a truth. I cut the wires and i "saw" how the act of bonsai is violence, with the wires, the cutting , twisting and the small pots that keep the roots bound. Then i was shown the similarity of bonsai to chinese foot binding. The human ego's violence against the natural, perhaps even against the feminine. Last year i went far into Tucson desert for 3 nights with no food, no tent or phone, just sleeping bag and water. When it got dark and i realized how far away from "help" i was i got scared and felt so tiny and weak under the big eternal sky. A tree nearby, which i gave water to earlier telepathically "let me know" 😂, that i was just as much a child of mother nature and the Sun god father, as any tree or coyote. After that, i felt like i belonged on Earth and that i would be safe the rest of my time in desert.
