We need to get someone to send you a parabolic antenna in the Xband . That’s the one piece of my Sat Com project that has stalled my progress. My intent is to receive and decode real-time imaging from the Pathfinder lunar orbiter. Data payload downlink is somewhere around 8.5ghz , left hand polarization. It would be awesome if I can get it done but if you or one of your viewers is up to it, I just want to see it accomplished. Great video as always. If you can do a tutorial on SDR Console and Sat Comm it would be greatly appreciated. That software is next level but completely overwhelming. Thanks for the video!!
Thank you for the video - nice inspiration. Is the speed of the nice little Morefine M10 Mini PC OK? What about the resolution update speed of the monitor output?
"Whilst here in the conservatory with the laptop connected to the SDR" Have you every watch the movie Clue 1984? I love your content! I'm trying to use my setup to reach a different bit of satellites from my lounge.
It would be nice if you could show step-by-step how you are getting the maritime messages. I've mastered JAero with the ACARS but never managed to decode anything else!
a small hint: Europe doesn't have GOES, but does have the ELEKTRO/EUMETSAT satellites (they function the same way as GOES). I don't think any of them are on L-band but rather X-band, and requires a lot more money and time to do.
Great video BTW but Amazon uk and Amazon de says that the Nooelec Mesh Antenna: cannot be shipped to Ireland. It seem that unless you have an AMAZON in your country they wont ship it to you.
Hmmm you reminded me about HRPT yes , indeed here in central Germany I could receive and hopefully decode them. I do have this dish but for 2.4 Ghz. I just need to modify it for 1.7 Ghz.
Btw, these are not worth a single damn dollar. 190bucks NOPE!!! Those original 2.4GHz antennas (they go for like 50-60bucks) work just fine, real difference compared one to another is about 1dB with Nooelec GOES+ LNA , tested on HRPT and LRIT.
@@MarkPentler Just flipping the backfire reflector (that metal thing on the feed) otherway around does the pinch. But even without that, its fine aswell.
Looks like a very cool piece of kit! Thanks for showing it to us.
You’re welcome!

I do have a 2m dish, that I need to unbox and set up. Plus gather some LNB's etc

Thank you :-) Not seen that movie though.

I have lots of videos showing this, take a look through them and if you get stuck drop me a message here. Cheers
Thank you for the presentation of this antenna but it seems that it cannot be delivered to France via Amazon, that's a shame !!

is it special feedhorn for this freq or you use feedhorn from 2,4ghz?

If you want one then you can email support, they will sort you out :-)
Was gonna mention what a previous commentor has raised, how about trying this on the NOAA HRPT reception..?
Cheers
This would be perfect for it.
Jaero voice. I’ve done this with the RTL SDR blog patch but I think this should be much much better. Also plot the locations into VRS.
Can never find voice channels. Can find loads of acars and text messages but never voice
@@box420 you have to change the baud rate in j aero and then select the spike on SDR platform for when they start.
Always finding new ways to spend my money, thanks I guessss..... lol jk. Thanks for showing us what's new
haha.. I know! Think about me though, not everything you see in my videos is free :-) All good though, I love making these type of videos. Cheers
Hi, which SDR software do you use.
In this video I used a NooElec SmarTee XTR and an Airspy Mini
Usb over Ethernet? 🤔

Did you get anything in the meanwhile?
@@justins.6569 no, I have two brand new sitting and waiting...
Seen it advertised before. Shame it looks like US import only. £159+ isn't cheap for what's just a grid pack antenna.
To save on installing stuff next time just enable rdp so no need for vnc server
oh yes... could do that too..

Without modding it?

Aerial. It's not an insect! lol
Poor antenna.
