  • What comes immediately to mind when you hear the word Switzerland? The majestic Alps, Swiss watches, international banking, chocolate and cheese? Switzerland encompasses all these things and more. Take an arm-chair journey through the sites and sounds of the real Switzerland in this fast-paced, fun and informative documentary. Discover the history and traditions of one of Europe’s most beautiful and unique countries. What is the “Swissness” that makes this country tick? You’ll learn about Switzerland’s Christian heritage, its unique form of democracy and its sometimes controversial position of neutrality in world affairs. From small quaint villages to magnificent mountain landscapes you’ll see why Switzerland is so much more than chocolate and cheese.

Having lived in Switzerland with a French speaking family for an International Exchange Program, I can attest to the beauty of Switzerland and the amazing chocolate which Switzerland produces.

This is a well done article, thank you very much from a "real Swiss" who loves and appreciates his own country and the people in Switzerland, no matter if they have a different opinion. Because to have a different opinion and to represent it is really lived Swissness.

My favourite tradition really is the “Konkordanz”, no matter how the opinions are different - we find a common ground.

Well done, professional and polished presentation. I particularly commend that the presentation didn't sugarcoat things. It spoke about some of the problems which have 'seeped through the cracks' so to speak. Yet in spite of that, Switzerland remains to be an extremely desirable place to live. Hooray!

If I could learn the language in short order, I'd definitely head for this country to live out the rest of my days. I love cool weather, fresh food and its proximity to the more raucous neighbor, Italy.

Liked the video very much. The most important part is..how Swiss people put to use and get the best from what they were blessed with. Inspite of the dirth of coal, petroleum ...How they efficiently used their water resource ... to meet the need for electricity .
Inspite of the rugged terrain.. transportation was made efficient..
Liked this part..where STRENGTH is covered by MODESTY. The beautiful combination as their landscape..Rugged Mountains with tranquil alpine forest, serene lakes and the flowing rivers.

I must say, I am definitely impressed with this mini documentary! I think now I know the one last thing I want to do before I die is, be sure to have my family crest prepared into a flag - perhaps superimposed over the U.S. flag - and wave it around like I just don’t care! Yup! I got a kick seeing the red, white and blue slicing through Flag Day, too!

This video is more like a propaganda piece than anything else. I live 40 km south of Geneve, and go to Switzerland regularly. I try to avoid Geneve - it's expensive and crowded. You have to get out into the "country" to really enjoy the Swiss vibe.

Switzerland is a Beautiful Country with Mountains and Valleys that are among the most Majestic in the world. They managed to stay Neutral during WW 2 but with a heavy German Occupation. At the end of the War their country was in good condition while most of Europe was Mass destruction. Wise leadership brought them through the most devastating War in Human History.

A cross is not symbolising resurrection but is an ancient Roman torture-to-death device, if you really think about it.

Was??
