Their performance for this year ALMOST got all the boxes checked, knowing that Sir Jojin and the people behind the success of Sinanduloy teamed up with Mandaue City. However, I've set my expectations too high & that the dancers didn't reached it (which is very understandable because many of them are newbies, I guess?) They lacked on grace and elegance (there is always room for improvements, as a festival/folk dancer, I started as a novice man pud 😊). I wanted to see MORE while watching them perform in street dancing where I could see a closer glimpse to their moves but as per observation, they needed more time for perfecting "papitik sa candles and performing more gracefully."

I was there during the rehearsals and from the start of thier practices. It was a bit hard for the dancers to catch up the snappy choreography that was made my Sir Jojin. The real plan was to establish or have 4 Pastores which are Kawit, Bool, Talisay and Chavacano but sadly they have decided to remove the Chavacano because it might surpas the time limit so they stick only with Kawit, Talisay and Bool. Still, everything was smooth and had a bit of errors especially with the pannels because it was rainy day that time and short circuits was experienced. Hence, it was still a good and a not bad performance for the first timers because some if thier dancers was only recruited last December and they have to catch up especially that the choreography was fast and snappy. I also remember when sir Jojin ask the drummers and instrumentalist to make it a lot more faster on the middle part so that they can hit the expectations of the audience. Moreover, Mandaue's 2nd place win was not that bad at all. I was even expecting that they will have the Best in Musicality Award because men it was really flawless and ear catchy I super loved it. As all said, time to move on and learn from the errors that happened during the performance.
Kudos to The Mandaue City Cultural Dance Troupe. 🎉
Ps. To cut off the rummors/gossips, all of the dancers, drummers, propsmen and dance masters are purely Mandauehanons. There was no collaboration between MCCDT and SDT.
