      Jason that is what I was hoping for. A "one stop shop" if you will. A video to answer the majority of peoples concerns and questions. If you know anyone else that can benefit from this video please share and give it a thumbs up. It helps with it's ratings which in turn can help frequency during searches. Thank you again.

    No worries. I love detailed long videos of guys & gals here willing to teach people the ends and outs. I know this. After going over my defense situation classes with my online training from USCCA. I NO LONGER go to the ATM or gas station at night. Even where I live for the past 28 years now. Nope! And even with living in Florida where my local P.D. or even Florida sheriff P.D. don't play. I still made the decision not to go to ether ATM or gas station at night. Unless, 💯 need be.

    Well thought out with excellent points and well presented. I learned a lot, especially regarding the seat belt issue. Thank you. Good job sir. I would like to add one point you referred to at the end, about filming yourself. I have done that, and I am fine on the draw with my trigger finger position, however, I found that I did not realize that I was keeping my finger very close to the trigger when re-holstering, and if I shoved my gun in too hard, my finger could be trapped and accidentally discharge a round. Something else to look for. Filming, and watching in slow-mo IS very helpful, and I recommend it too.

    Great information! I have found a belt called the Glide Instructor Belt. It is very sturdy and has no buckle. I have also found my appendix carry spot is 2:30 just in front of my hip bone.

    Thank you very much. This is the year 2020 (why do I feel like I am in a science fiction book when I say this?), and your video is from 2016. The equipment has changed quite a bit, but the principles that you allude to in your video have remained the same. Thank you again because you have shortened the learning curve for appendix carry for the new AC carriers a lot.

      Fred Kumm I’m sorry I missed your comment 5 months ago. TH-cam does NOT notify me like they’re are supposed to. And thank you, and I agree. Lots changed in 4 years but the principals still remain the same. I was actually curious if people still seen this video

    Great video. Thanks for putting it out as you stated in your last comment to me. I ordered the appendix holster rig with integrated mag carrier. Can't wait to get it. I find appendix is the most comfortable way to carry for me as well. There are a lot of benefits. I have a feeling it will become more popular and holster prices will increase due to demand. We shall see! Cheers man!

    I appreciate all the great info! It is nice that you have the experience to back it. I just got my T5 custom kydex appendix rig. I love it since it has the mag carrier like yours but I didn't want to break the bank. I picked it up for $50! Might be worth a look for someone interested in appendix but doesn't want to spend a lot on the first holster.

    Tried Appendix for the first time this weekend. I have a gut, so it didnt go well- but I was also trying with a Sig P226. I need to give it a shot with one of my compacts and see how it is. I have a Sidecar on the way, and I used an INCOG Appendix holster this weekend. Not sure it will be for me, but time will tell.

    • @SONofLIBERTY
      @SONofLIBERTY  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did not like the Incog at all. Out of all the holsters I have tested it is one of the few that printed the most. Now the product Im working on next might work better for you. I have been told by a person who "has a gut" he says that it worked well for him. Stay tuned.

      Andy Kaufman thank you Andy. I’m really glad that this video was beneficial to you in your journey. One of the main reasons I made this video was because I felt like there was a huge gap regarding a lot of detailed information on this topic. Over time appendix carry has become so much more common as a carry option. Welcome to the channel and whenever time allows please take a few moments and check out some of my newer videos. This one was recorded several years ago so I’ve Worked hard to increase the overall quality of my videos. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Take care.

    I get concerned about damage to my internal organs in a car accident while carrying appendix. The seat belt is made to hit on the hip bones to absorb impact forces, but an appendix rig will be pushed into the abdomen.

    • @SONofLIBERTY
      @SONofLIBERTY  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Coach 1092 I was hit head on while carrying appendix so hard that it bent the frame on my tundra, and caused $11,000 worth of damage to my truck. No damage at all to that area and not even a bruise what so ever. Carry confidently.

    One concern or suggestion with your seatbelt configuration: in a collision, I would think having your seatbelt over the gun/holster could result in serious pelvic injury, whereas putting the seatbelt behind the holster would mitigate, if not eliminate, potential pelvic injuries. There's a video here on TH-cam discussing this problem, and I found it very helpful.
    All that said, this video is an excellent, nearly comprehensive demo for those considering appendix carry--or improving one's appendix-carry applications, in my case. Thank you!

    • @SONofLIBERTY
      @SONofLIBERTY  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      patronus1776 thank you very much. Actually I wondered the same thing and I've seen the video your referring too. I truly believe it depends on multiple factors. I was involved in a head on collision in my Toyota tundra and I was hit so hard that it broke the frame clip off the front of the truck and totaled the other car. I was carrying appendix and I suffered no pelvis or abdominal injuries at all. However had I been in a car this may have not been the case. I think it's a decision that we all have to make individually and depending on the vehicles that we drive. Thank you again for the support of this video and channel. If you don't mind share it to help bring some attention to this subject

    The common issues about bending over probably come from people with bad holsters/belts. Right now I'm using a crappy IWB holster and a crappy normal belt and when I bend over I'm in my own little version of hell.

      SONofLIBERTY another great video! What holster is in the seat belt sequence? It looks like trigger guard is exposed quite a bit when you pan around. That would worry me a lot, especially in appendix carry.

    • @SONofLIBERTY
      @SONofLIBERTY  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Greg Morford it's the sidecar holster from Trex Arms. Most holsters that have lights attached are slightly wider than holsters without lights. When the holster is built it has to be built with retention on the light. You'll see much wider trigger guards on Surefire x300 setups. I've been running Appendix for a long time. It's a personal choice and not for everyone. The space is so small around the trigger guard that I can't get a pen in it. But A shirt could work its way down into the holster but that risk lies with anyone who carries inside the waist even at the 3 o'clock or 4 oclock position

      The Glock 43 (All Black) is running a Agency which I HIGHLY recommend for the 43 due to its terrible factory weight. Improved my accuracy from the moment I dropped it in. The Glock 19 of the left (OD green frame with ATEi upper) is running a Dues Ex Machina. I typically like my EDC pistol to have a *heavier* feel with a CRISP break.

    Thank you for the run down and video ! From what I can tell with the " concealed appendix carry " method your entire world revolves around that firearm stuck in the front of your pants ?
    I just don't have the time to devote to it and looks like my best option is an open carry leather holster in our application .

  • @eahull47
    @eahull47 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just a suggestion here, not trying to troll you are bust you out in front of everyone, but the sweat guard on your Tactite looks like it could discharge your firearm if you bobble a reholster. I had to cut a good deal off of a similar holster that I use daily. Just saying word to the wise it can happen. I'm sure you've checked this, but I didn't hear you mention it in your video.
    Great video, good audio, and I appreciate the effort you undertook.

    • @SONofLIBERTY
      @SONofLIBERTY  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Edward Hull there is a RARE chance that it could happen if you angled your gun JUST right. Your more likely to have a piece of shirt in your holster while re-holstering. But that's for another video.

  • @flyingplumber226
    @flyingplumber226 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    What are your thoughts on the rubber wedge that is on the back of the tuctite annex holster? Does it help conceal better? Add more comfort or both? I ordered an annex for glock 19 w/xc1 a month ago and hasn't shipped yet. I wanna grab a sidecar or annex for just regular Glock 19.

    • @SONofLIBERTY
      @SONofLIBERTY  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Keith Gemmill it may help on the 19 but I honestly didn't see the advantages or need for it on the 43. I hinted at it in my video but the more I carried it I eventually removed it. Now you may see more advantages on the 19. It made a huge difference on the Eidolon from Raven.

    • @flyingplumber226
      @flyingplumber226 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      SONofLIBERTY I decided to order the annex for glock 19. Since the annex for 19 w/xc1 should be here any day it will allow me to compare the same manufacture. It wouldn't be fair/beneficial to compare the annex xc1 vs. t-Rex w/o xc1. I have yet to ever attempt appendix carry with a light. I'm a smaller frame guy and just never wanted with the size of lights available. Now that the xc1 has come down in price I decided to go for it.

    Just came across your channel. A very thorough well explained topic concerning appendix carry. I really appreciated you taking the time to be as thorough as possible. A lot of great well thought out discussions. I am a new subscriber. I also appendix carry though my stomach does have to much of the middle age spread. Not only the does the claw work, I have found the wedge also works well. To me it adds a little more comfort, but it does position the holster with the firearm more in a straight line. Once again thank you.

    Very good presentation. Clear and to the point. I've been appendix carrying for 45 years. The first handgun I started carrying was a 2" S&W 64, out of the box stock. Behind the belt buckle. I carried a S&W 60 behind my back under the right side pocket in a left hand holster. This had the butt pointed to the right. This is the natural way you're hand slides behind you're back. Also if you're stuck up and the scumbag(s) demand you're wallet, they'll get a great big FUCKING surprise. This system works with any weapon that I choose to carry. At 60 years of age I keep fit. I've never had a gut that some of the detractors of A.C. say it's uncomfortable. I've never A.D. a weapon before so I've never shot my dick off or my femoral artery. This is the most consealable way to Carrey any weapon especially in hot weather and the best position for a fast counseled carry draw. It requires no bending, twisting movements. If you're dressed for conceal carry you're weapon is invisible and reachable with either hand. You can begin the draw in a casual motion. It's very fast if you've put in the time that you DAMN well have better have put in to any way you carry. It is the most natural way the arms and hands work to carry. If it's uncomfortable or scares you than don't use it. ALWAYS CARRY A WEAPON IN A HOLSTER THAT IS FOR THE WEAPON AND METHOD YOU CHOOSE TO CARRY. PRACTICE UNTIL IT BECOMES RELEX. YOU'RE LIFE WILL DEPEND ON THIS. All that being said if for some reason if forced to Mexican carry, (never a good idea) it's not the best way to carry. What ever system works best for you is the best way to carry. If you live in a warm climate or a seasonal climate where you go from a coat to shirt tale it's one of the best ways to carry the same way all of the time as it is clothing neutral. The new Kydex holster makes it even safer and more comfortable. If you haven't tried it yet, try it long enough to get used to it. I'm betting you'll switch or at least add it to you're toolbox. Guns don't fire unless the trigger is pulled. In 50 years of useing firearms I've seen all kinds of AD's some just imberrising some fatal. It's the human using it that creates the hazard, not the weapon or the method of carry. I've seen cops blow the bottom of their holster in the locker room or firing line. I've seen shooters shoot them selves in the leg, ass, and foot with strong and cross draw carry. I once saw one cop shoot his partner in the face drawing from a horizontal shoulder holster. The shot officer was standing behind his partner when the officer in front pulled the trigger while drawing. This had the predictable tragic result. Handling and carrying any firearm involves the same calculated risk as driving a car. Pay attention to what you're doing and you will probably live to grow old. I'd you don't it won't be because you're a bad driver or careless gun handler.

    • @SONofLIBERTY
      @SONofLIBERTY  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If have to take a leak I will generally remove the holster and attach it to container that holds the toilet seat covers. If that is not available I will carefully set it where the muzzle is facing down on the toilet paper dispencer. I have to use a stall each time versus using the urinal but it's worth it to me. If I have to take a dump Ill just set the holster down inside my pants. There is an article that was written some time ago covering this very issue. A dedicated search online should uncover it.

    I appendix carry, but in the situation in the vehicle you show, you are always going to laser your left leg if drawing to the left side. The only way you're going to avoid that is to have your legs spread and bring the pistol down the middle of the seat as you bring it up after clearing the holster. Obviously, that takes time - time you may not have...

    • @SONofLIBERTY
      @SONofLIBERTY  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      MrAquaImage And you’re correct. This is one of those situations that an individual would have to make. And I’m just being completely and 100% honest with you here. You may find yourself in a situation where you don’t have that time available. The demonstration in this video was demonstrating just that. I would’ve liked to been more specific with that particular topic but I knew this video was going to be very long anyway and when you are getting into 30 minute long videos your audience will become smaller and smaller. Appendix carry is something a lot of people struggle with so I wanted to put this video together to be able to help as many people as possible. Now I do have some video of me shooting from inside of the vehicle on aNother review that I done called “beef, beer and brass weekend”. It was a 3 day course with Decisive Action but they only do contract work now unfortunately. In that video when we were training specifically on drawing from inside of the vehicle that is one of the specific things that we talked about was flagging your leg. You can do it very quickly and safely but as you stated it does require specific training and dedication to getting better at it. In that video I mentioned I want to think we go over vehicle shooting on day two of that review.

    I don't keep track of your channel, so maybe you've already done this, but you can glue your own foam wedge to the back of that solo kydex holster. The wedge was around before the claw, and will do just as good of a job if is the right size and in the right place.

      Ralph Lugo in my state with a CCW license I can carry open if I chose too but don't. I only expose my firearm like in the video in rare situations or going to the ATM. That's it. My truck sits up a good amount and most LEO drive cars so they would never see it. Anyway if a cop did pull up in a truck or SUV and I could see he saw my gun because I forgot to pull my shirt back over it I would just wave at him and go on about my day. No laws being broken here

    I'm looking for one of the sidecar or Tier 1 AGIS type appendix holsters for the Canik TP9SF. I theoretically love the splitting option and flexing nature of the AGIS but it is only listed as being for the TP9SA. The guns are damn close in shape, visually, and damn close in size based on the specs but I just don't know about spending the money HOPING the SF fits their SA holster. Anyone here have an appendix holster they love for their SF? ...not SF elite...

    It is my opinion that this ridiculous cowboy mentality is why only 2% of CCW permit holders actually carry daily. Some "John Wayne" keeps telling us we need to be affective in 1.5 seconds. I have a car that can travel 135 mph in 1/4 mile... "heat of the race" is not how I trained my sons to drive. Cowboys belong on the range. Practical persons need practical training.

I’ve Spent my 30s traveling the Eastern region of the United States perfecting and honing this skill set. I combined that knowledge with questions that I receive on a weekly basis, and forums that I read to hopefully be able to deliver the most informational video on TH-cam regarding the subject matter. Since this video I have switched my appendix holster to something that I feel is more superior than the appendix holster that I was using in this video. I have two reviews on the Tier 1 AGIS APPENDIX holster posted on my channel if your interested. Additionally there is a “Second Part” to this video called the “ART OF APPENDIX DRAW” if that would be of interest to you.

      As for Brandishing my firearm I waited till my neighbor was gone to work before filming. And since my gun never left the Window frame the only way someone would have been able to make out what I was doing is to look directly at my rear view mirror, which would have been a stretch even for my closest neighbor. Even my unloaded gun was pointed at my hill in my background while filming those 3 draws for this video. And by your statement above if I load a gun into my vehicle in my driveway wouldn't you consider that brandishing as well? Remember you are seeing a fraction of a much larger picture such as a Iceberg underwater. Just some food for thought.

    *Todays Fad of Appendix Carry*
    The problem I have with modern day "Mexican" carry with a holster is the increased danger of shooting yourself in the man-tool or femoral artery. The heck with speed how about dead due to rapid blood loss or at the very least becoming a transgender at the start of a gunfight.
    I am reminded of the Tex Grebner incident where he shot himself in the leg on the draw. If he was carrying appendix goodbye manhood &/or family jewels. Some may say it is a training issue. Training can not solve *the 1st (& thus last) mistake you make* while training or in a real life, high stress self-defense incident. *"Murphy's Law"* for sure.
    So please *do not carry appendix.*
    *My Research* - due to all the training you can do in saving time or getting faster
    - vs the chances of getting into a self-defence incident in the 1st place
    - vs all the different self-defense types of scenarios there are
    - vs the time difference of an appendix holster's speed minus the IWB holster's speed or another type of holster...
    I am sure the odds are slim to nil there will be enough of a time difference to make a real life difference that will win a gun fight.
    *Note:* Second post

    • @SONofLIBERTY
      @SONofLIBERTY  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sweet Costa Rica your just as likely to have a negligent discharge up drawing/reholstering with strong side carry as you are with appendix. Appendix carry is not for everyone but to say that one is SAFER than the other is an invalid argument. A round entering the human body is capable of going ANYWHERE and exit someplace completely different than where it entered.

    • @sweetcostarica8714
      @sweetcostarica8714 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for an interesting video & for the quick response.
      Yes, *SONofLIBERTY* to odds of a negligent discharge are the same with both methods & actually any way of carrying a gun concealed or not concealed i.e. "Murphy's Law". So the question is:
      *If I have a negligent discharge up drawing/re-holstering do I want to get shot in:*
      - the butt cheek (4 o'clock)?
      - the arm (shoulder holster)?
      - the chest (chest/bra rig)?
      or
      - the man tool or large femoral artery (appendix carry)?
      For me it is in the butt cheeks as I can probably live that down but losing my woman slayer is *not an option.*
      *EDIT,* I love my two *Conveyer belts by Arcteryx.* Never though of using them CCW. Will try it with my Glock 43.
      Stay frosty.

If you knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that you were going to be into a self-defense shooting tomorrow and you had the opportunity to be given 3/10 of a second would you take it? Of course you would. Secondly If I can’t trust this firearm while carrying in a secure kydexholster than I don’t need to carry the gun at ALL in ANY position. And I didn’t start carrying appendix until I took a Haley strategic course and they didn’t sell it as a gimmick. They just simply stated find out which one works best for you and run with it. It’s much more comfortable for me, I can deploy my firearm from within my vehicle much more efficiently as a right handed shooter. And if you research AD’s while carrying you will find an OVERWHELMING amount of people with bullets holes in the butt cheeks, thighs, and calves. I’m not saying that my method of Carrie is any better than anyone else’s. But it does work better for me. I can tell you Appendix carry is stupid and dangerous. You can't justify as an instructor telling student to obey the very real and necessary safety rules and then tell them it's ok to violate those rules of you want to carry appendix. I don't care who says appendix carry won't cause you the cover your Johnson or femoral artery. WILL HAPPEN. And if I have to change my gun so I can carry that way, it' wrong period. I used to tell my students in police academy, "If it's uncomfortable, it's most likely not right" again any instructor would not teach this. Remember rule number two, come on say it with me "Never let you muzzle cover anything you don't want to destroy" And if the person telling you is an instructor he/she should have the teaching cert pulled. You can't sit and draw, You can't drive and draw. You can't bend forward and draw. You are going to get a rash on your inner thigh. I can tell you, having seen it, if you do have an "ND" and shoot your groin or femoral artery, pray you are training near a hospital. Go look at old photos of real gunfighters, men who used to carry to save their lives. How are they carrying their pistols? It ain't about how fast you can draw it's about hitting your target!!! No one ever was killed by a fast miss or a loud bang. I started teaching the "35 foot rule" back in the 1990's. Shooting from behind cover and shooting and moving are also good techniques. Take it from someone who's trained thousands of people from every three letter organization out there. Taught police academy 9 year, was the lead firearms instructor for my department, spend 14 years on SWAT, 22 years in Law Enforcement, been involved in multiple shooting and toted a gun before most of those on folks were an "Itch in their daddy;'s pants" STOP TAKING ADVICE FROM FOLKS WHO AIN"T REAL!!!
