      Not really. Yeah they can execute some elements but there's no way they could match gymnasts in routines. This doesn't take away from them tho as they're insanely strong beasts.

    • @heinzheinz1558
      @heinzheinz1558 3 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      Gymnasts and calisthenics have maybe similar motions and statics, but each sport has really different judging parameters. An elite gymnast isnt automatically an elite calisthenics athlete. For example gymnastics is a lot about flexibility and form, while calisthenics is more free, everyone can choose his own style, thats what i love with this sport ❤️

      You'd be surprised just how little difference strength wise there is between going from a front lever to this.
      We're talking only about 10-20% more strength needed. The problem is it takes years to get those last 10-20%. Strength gains follow the Pareto principle (aka the 80/20 rule), you'll get 80% of your gains in 20% of the time.

      @@x3473 well, I just started to train for the planche seriously for months now. It could have been a year, but when I first started I felt a sharp pain in my right forearm which was probably due to the lack of strength in my tendons. I’m good now so that’s why I was able to start focusing more on planche training. I think I’m having trouble because of the lack of experience. I think I have a decent base strength for my push now, it’s just the lack of technique 🤷‍♂️

      @Guillermo Ruiz I’ll have to disagree with you with that comparison, full place pushup is obv harder but the problem with that is that you have to steadily strengthen your straight elbow strength. The hand placement also has to be towards the weist. What I prefer is to carry plates while doing push-ups instead.
      I also do pseudo push-ups but not planche pushups (I don’t like placement being to low)
