- We’ve been working on a project truck for awhile and the Pro-Line Racing Ford Bronco body with trail cage we ordered for it just arrived. Since we had to paint the body, Greg decided to turn on the camera and give you a step-by-step run down of how he created a simple stunning paint job and also gives you a bunch of tips and tricks along the way. Whether you’re looking to top off your Axial SCX10 with this body, or just looking for help in the painting department, this video should leave you with lots of helpful information.

How do you paint your bodies? Spray cans or airbrush?
I have a $150 airbrush and a mini compressor...I use spray cans :-)
spray cans always... air brushing seems intimidating
I use an airbrush, although I started off with rattle cans. Have a look at the ones I've done (shameless plug) :D

I plan on getting one of these Bronco body's, only wish they had a Bronco ll body - I had a '85. I'll review this again for the tips whenever I do get the body.

Good tutorial video very helpful to me. Why don't body makers add body film on the inside?
I watched this after painting my first ever body, but it's ok because that one is just a thrashing body that's getting messed up anyway. and I think it turned out well for my first try. I can try using some of these tips in my next one though which will be a nicer one anyway
I put tape (and other things) into dollar store plastic bags. They come in all sizes from 1"X2" up. Screws all go into tiny bags with their parts number. A little OCD but I only have a few RC and I know when I'm running out of some parts :)

can you make a show on how to paint the roll bars?. lf you wanted them to be chrome. what type paint, etc....since it would be on the outside
Have you ever painted a hard body what do you do with them in preparing the body and what kind of paint can you use on it and do you have To primer the body before painting

The protective film on my body pelted off and wrinkled what should I do?
Dumb question can i use this body for any 1/10 scale? Like an arrma senton?
A thin layer of shoe goo on the underside of the body around the body mounting holes and in the wheel wells will strengthen the body and prevent paint loss due to tire rub and roll overs.
Will this body fit on a Traxxas Stampede VXL?
to wash the bosies i use a shaving brush. its really soft and gets inti difficult areas. buy a cheap one. works great
Are these any particular paints for rc, or can i use normal acrylic spray paints as tamiya is not available at my country.
Go to your local hobby store and buy the special kind or you will ruin it
I saw a guy use liquid masking film. What do you think about that?
About how many cans would you need of each color to do a basic project like that one? I am looking to paint a slash body.
2 1 you want the the to be then 1 can to back it up example I I painted my slash metallic blue then backed it up with silver

What is the difference between black paint and black backer paint for RC bodies
Dave Chatelle th difference will be what’s called vantablack. Vantablack will not show on camera because there is a 255 color limit even of the iPhone 11 (for example) it will be hard to see the body lines but other than that it will look cool
I'm having problems with my arrma outcast. My ESC won't exit heat protection mode. None of the electronics are working. I charged the batteries and put new ones in the controller. Did I burn out my ESC? And does my ESC have anything to do with my Servo not working?
This is the wrong place for this question. But to answer it, yes you have "cooked" your esc. Yes your cooked esc is the reason your servo is not working.
When you wash the body does it make the over spray film come off when it gets wet?

Btyd Rc's Fun you need atleast 3 coats and wait 5 to 10 mins between each coat

Make sure you use part number on the Tamiya cap start with: PS-# color and not TS-# color, the guy didnt say it ! TS is good for reduced model plastic
How do i stop my clear bodies from chipping the paint?
Use the right paint. Tamiya PS spraycans for example. Like shown in this Video.
so im gonna paint a race buggy red and black i paint the black first
Spray cans. Usually 1-2 colors. Simple, because the body's ultimately get destroyed on my Basher or SCT track vehicles.
Did not show how you got that clear film on, and how you painted the grill with black and yellow... Not much help there
CLear Film comes with the body. Its already on. And the Grill is probably a decal.

The markers easily come off with isopropyl alcohol.
I just did my first body with straight scissors... that was a huge pain in the a$$ lol
Well I painted a Proline Chevy Silverado body for my t maxx with 4 colors: metallic blue up front, a pink stripe going diagonally across the middle, metalic purple in the back and a black bed, for it just to go to waste because after a couple of runs, the paint all over the inside fell off randomly. It looks pretty ugly and I don’t know what I did wrong. I first cut the body, sanded it, washed it, masked it and painted it. It looked good only with some paint bleed in the pink stripe area. I’m really disappointed for a first body that I painted.
What kind of paint did you use? I’ve used a paint that said it was for plastic that did the same, the problem was it wasn’t for flexible Rc bodies. Make sure the paint specifically says it’s for Rc bodies. A clean body and Rc paint holds up well to flexing/etc.
I used the normal Tamiya paint. Oh wait a minute, my black, white, and metallic blue paints I used say “for plastics” on them while the pink, metallic purple and smoke (tiny) say “for polycarbonate.” I think that would be the issue! Half of my paint was for plastics and the other half was for specificly polycarbonate.

Go to an automotive store and get real tape for masking your body, never use regular masking tape unless you like bleed through. Its not that expensive it really isnt.
