My exact set up. less track but Bachman EZ command , bought one brand new for $100 CND, couldn't beat that price, I don't have room for a permanent layout so no point to get the advance NCE or Digitrax. basic loco commands work so I am good., . Excellent video thank you. Beautiful lay out
Nice layout! I like the kato unitrack and I also like bachmann. I was wondering how to wire your dcc controller and using the kato power supply for your turn outs.
I love Kato.. I use it in HO, and I wired all my turnout control to use DPDT momentary switches, powered by 9v dc contained in a plastic box, connected to the track using CAT 6 cable and connectors. Since its a portable shelf layout and DC (for now) it works just fine.
I Am Building my wife’s layout She Is Running Bachmann And Kato as well Her Power pack Is a Tech II Controller. Got the Bachmann connected But Now trying to Figure out to connect the Kato to the Controller.
Your n scale videos are absolutely awesome great job I’m getting Kato Unitrack for my ho scale trains that track system is great flawless yeah I really enjoyed your video I really like what you said about your dad my dad worked for the southern railway that’s great I’m the the same way I like to keep it a family hobby there’s no better hobby in the world then model trains some great people in the hobby like yourself anyways I’m rambling great video keep em coming
I am planning to have one layout like if I have one train, two #6 turnout switches with a double crossover in between the switches. Then adding the feeder tracks on the ends of both turnout switches would power atleast one line of double crossover, so that the train can pass through it. Am I right?
A very nice video and layout. I have plans to run my HO Unitrack layout with EZ Command and the switch controls (as seen here), and am wondering if a DC converter is required for the switches.
I got the ez command set with a layout for my birthday and I think it was like 170-200 ish. With a nice loco and a oval of bachmann ez track. Not sure if I should switch to kato prefab or not. The set is the echo valley sound value kit with a steam loco.
Could you do a video explaining the process of the feeders? I’ve got the Bachmann ez command and I’m about to switch from ez track to unitrack. With the ez track I didn’t need feeders. Could you just explain them?
Hey TommyGun, thanks for sharing! Where did your dad work on the Santa Fe? My father also got me hooked on the hobby when he gave me an N scale trainset for Christmas many decades ago. I also model the Santa Fe in N scale, but haven't built my 4x8 (or maybe 5x9) layout yet, although I hope to do so within the next 3 years or so. I'm away from home for longs spells due to the traveling nature of my work. When I do get home, I setup my trains with Kato UniTrack on the dining room table for my young daughters and I to enjoy, and then break it all down before mealtime to keep my wife happy! Like you, I also bought a beginner's DCC system (an MRC Prodigy Express2), but I haven't hooked it up yet. I just use my MRC Tech II dual power "old school" DC controller to run to trains simultaneously on 2 different tracks.
He worked in the Kansas area. All 42 years of track maintenance. Rain, snow, sleet and whatever mother nature would throw at him and his co-workers. Don't know how he did it all those years. :-)
Wow, now that's what I call a man dedicated to his work! Your dad must have been someone very special. My dad didn't work on the railroad, but I grew up around trains nonetheless. I lived as a kid on the other end of the Santa Fe's line where it reached sunny Southern California. Orange groves and citrus packing houses were near our home, so I saw Santa Fe trains pulling reefers a lot during harvest times on the Venta Spur. If you go to my TH-cam channel, I have put together several playlists. One such playlist features Classic Santa Fe Railway videos showing interesting operations of the actual railroad.
Awesome teaching and great layout. I run a similar dcc/ dc layout and have my turnouts currently powered by a kato power supply too! Wiring made easy I guess! :)

I bought a Kato train in memory of my dad too. great reason!
I like your layout. For me, I like a lot of track. I had HO Train set when I was a kid, way back in the day. I am looking to get back into the hobby.
Nice layout! I like the kato unitrack and I also like bachmann. I was wondering how to wire your dcc controller and using the kato power supply for your turn outs.
Ah yes my favorite model train company Kaato

Nice layout. Just out of curiosity, how many total feeders do you have on your layout?
Nice. Good choice on the kato track. I have ho and its the best track imo
I agree. :-)

Hey, Tommy. Thanks for the great video. I'm also getting started with N scale. I'm converting over from HO.

Yes agreed that's a whole video , would you use terminal strips or a bus wire with suit case connectors? Thanks

Great! What model Santa Fe's are they? I want to buy one but not sure which one to get.
Couldn't the turn outs be controlled via the Bachmann control if they are DCC turnouts?
I was alway wondering if Bachman controller could connect to unitrack
Do I need a Kato controller for the turn outs
Where did you get engines that run on different functions from the controller. I'm struggling to find ones that run on different ones
Awesome teaching and great layout. I run a similar dcc/ dc layout and have my turnouts currently powered by a kato power supply too! Wiring made easy I guess! :)
What decoder did you use in them ? Great video 👍
how did you wire switches in to the command unit?
ZOOM!
Does the 7.62, like the caiber. Or is it just random numbers?
I have Santa Fay too but it’s broken 😞
Santa Fe
👍👍👍
Okay you got 4 links there but which one is which? What do you have to do to wire the locos?
Hey TommyGun one question, that blue kato controller, will that work for ho also or just n?
Works for HO & N scale.
Are u using kato dcc locos
I have Fleischmann n locomotive. This can run on KATO track?
yes, if it's n scale it will run on n scale track
@@nuggettacoguyperson8841 Thanks a lot.
