Reelsteedy is a great tool for video work, no client wants shaky “unprofessional” footage. However pilots who are trying to showcase their freestyle skill hate on it because it makes average pilots look much better. A well tuned quad with good weight distribution and good flying conditions is optimal but not every videographer will have the time to learn how to tune and understand the physics. I still find it hard to believe that you purchase ready to fly drones, your video work is phenomenal. I always assumed you built your drones. I learned fpv to add it to my skillset as a videographer but ended up loving building drones and the hobby. The options as far as quality of parts and ability to repair it is very useful. I have purchased 2 pre built drones and they were not tuned with the go pro weight i was using which made it fly like shit. So learning Pid’s and understanding tuning a bit really helps with better footage out of camera, but for those that are crunched for time reelsteedy is am amazing alternative.
Nice video I learned a lot about stabilization but IMHO all footage is a way too blurry (like 3:16). I watch in 4K set on youtube. Also I feel like you have some framerate mismatch as there is constant frame rate oscillation caused most probably my nearest neighbor frame matching
Do you use GoPro color instead of Flat? Which is the main advantage for post? Please make a video for export settings 🤞🏻 my video quality sucks when exporting from premiere pro and uploading to Instagram
But I want to put it in a 23.976 timeline....it's too choppy at 60 for if not slowed down 40% but then fpv is going to slow in footage. Also sometimes even when I'm flying in straight line there will be there motion blur shakes idk how to fix
Hey Danny, awesome vid and content overall, really inspiring me to proceed with FPV! One question, or anyone please, with the gopro and nd filters which I hear you recommend and use (with shutter speed set to 2x frame rate) but I thought I heard u say that u like to usually leave shutter speed to auto instead of 1/120 when filming 60fps. Sorry, I'm just getting into this and am a little confused. So is shutter speed set at auto with and nd filter going to provide same motion blur effect as shutter locked in and with an nd filter with 2x frame rate?
@@emilholmegaardmossing919 just depends on what you’re shooting. If you do 16x9 it’s basically like cropping in, so if you’re shooting subjects it could work to your advantage. But if you’re just shooting a landscape 4:3 would be better. I’m just not a huge fan of the look of 2.7K 60

Just starting to get into FPV and this was super helpful, thanks! I'm planning on making a cinematic video that combines footage from my Sony A7iii and my FPV drone, and all the A7iii footage I've shot at 24fps. Would you recommend shooting the gopro at 24fps as well? Or Maybe shooting in 60 and trying to interpret it later in post?
@@Cinoo90 Yeah. I always shoot around 4k or 2.7k and 120fps. You can go higher, it's just that cinematic movements with drones look awesome if you slow them down. @@beezermedia I'd say using RSGo/Hypersmooth is only considered "cheating" for freestyle pilots coz most of the time it makes a lot of average freestyle pilots seem to have really smooth flow and have better footage overall. But when it comes to cinematic FPV, stabilization is always the way to go for that buttery smooth footage that just looks and feels like a dream. Even pilots like Mr. Steele who never stabilizes his freestyle footage uses RSGo for cinematic work that he does for his clients like on his "$16 Million Miami Luxury Mansion | 4K Racing Drone Virtual Tour | NO CUTS" video. But also quad tuning is a super great advantage in helping whatever stabilization tool you may use work a lot less. All in all, amazing video and great tips as always @Danny Mcgee
You forgot about the important part, post production. I would be cool to see a video of your post workflow!

Know nothing about videography/photography but enjoyed seeing the difference between the before and after footage.
It helps a lot thanks!
why not 4:3 if using RS for smoothing? -- when i roll at 4k RS is cropping top and bottom

Do you have updated info for the gopro 11? D

Was wondering when GP would acquire reelsteady haha. Didn’t know that they already did
i'm told rsgo works better with firmware 1.6 on the 6 black, which doesnt do 4k 60fps in 4-3.

What are your thoughts on SuperView? I personally really like the look however it does limit you to 30p recording
I don’t think you can use reelsteady with superview. They might have updated it but I know you couldn’t before

So you think reelsteady post stabilization doesn't work if you use built in hypersmooth stabilization?
Nope

Nah you can use wide too. The hero 9 only has 4K60 in 16x9 so you can’t use 4:3

Hey,
Did you had any issues with the Gp9 flying in low temperatures?
What rates do you fly at?
Can reelsteady use 16:9 or only 4:3?
Reels takes 4:3 videos and converts it to a 16:9 video. So you should never use 16:9 for realsteady.
