Hi Chris. That is a huge Renaissance Faire. Love it when everyone dresses up and gets into character at these fairs. The weather did add to the atmosphere of being in England. Thanks for sharing and take care.
This Faire has morphed SO much from the early days when it was at Agoura Ranch and was run by a nonprofit, which I absolutely loved due to its strict adherence to the period, but of course the attendance was never what it is today, as that sort of purity to history and such wasn't appreciated by the masses. Haven't been in several years to this one and can see the commercialized aspect with even food trucks showing up now, grows every year, but it's obviously loved by many and I think the best part is that it gives even a larger audience than ever to the true craftspeople that create such amazing treasures! Also kudos to the performers, as they are always entertaining and bottom line, even with the continuing "county fair" aspect of it, it remains one of the most fun things you can do in So Cal!
As a person who lives in England, I can tell you that yes, that is the weather we have just throw in some hail and rain every half an hour... great video, thanks for sharing!
CROSSBOWS! The crossbows at Good Shepherd Games are a terrific mix of entertainment and activity! Enthusiastic hawkers and the opportunity to shoot a hydra make this game a MUST each season!
Thank you for another great video. You inspire me to make videos for my channels, though we have different styles, and my videos are in Portuguese showing America to Brazil, but still, you are a great inspiration.
Did this last year and was Amazed at just how big it was! Really wish it hadn’t been set up as one long labyrinthine pathway by the end of our day …because an exhausted half-mile plus trudge back from the jousting arena to the parking lot was NOT very kind to my knees by the end of it…especially since I still had a 2 1/2 hr drive home! Still, that was literally my only complaint! (Although, ironically, I was literally parked RIGHT on the OTHER SIDE of the jousting arena walls! Oof, I Really wish they had more than one entry/exit point last year!)…oh, and not only do 4 year old Curious princesses like yours love the butterfly wings (the vendor at 5:10 in…)-my 25 year old curious princess talked HER Daddy into buying her a set also!
Great video Chris ! Thanks ! Next week I'm going for the first time. Was there a long line of cars to get into the Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area ? I've heard horror stories about it taking a very long time to get into the parking lot at that fair. How long did it take you to get in ?
It was kind of a crappy weather day. So we drove right in and parked. But I could certainly see how it could be awful as the amount of entrance lanes is really small
I have been to Renaissance fairs back in the 70s however, this was a much larger fair than I have ever seen. For some reason, I didn’t see any stockades. Where are you going to put the winches who disobey you if you don’t have stockades?
Hi thanks for posting! $57 before you even walk in the door! ($45 entry $12 parking) oh my with $15+ drinks!? Jeez... jeez gotta pay for the rides too! Thanks so much for going over those astronomical food prices!! ohmyword this is a $100 investment if you dont want to starve
One important tip that should've been included on the tour is that you should bring cash, some, not all, stores will forgo charging you tax when you use cash. Also don't use $100 bills on games, they will hold the game up for everyone. He totally missed an opportunity to film the turtle races at Good Shepard Games and the 'dragons ' at crossbows are actually hydras
I haven't been in twenty years. There used to be a lot more 18+ shows and their determination to be family has absolutely neutered some of the best acts. That combined with cost has just made it less interesting for me.
Most faires still have a ton of 18+ shows and events, they're just spread out more or you have to ask around a little. Since they've become more popular with teens, young adults, and kids in the past 10 years or so, I think the demographic has shifted a lot.
Very overpriced fair after the scamd.emic doubled on everything! Pretty empty for 3:30pm. Before 2020's economic disaster entrance to this fair was $25 ($22 with coupon). Beer was $9 and meat food was under $10. The fair was full by 12pm no matter the weather! Oh and the events were worthy of seeing them all and full acting by the gypsy employees all over! This looks sad now 😂
Great to meet you today!
Always great to meet a fellow Explorer! Thanks for saying hello!

Thanks for sharing that historical perspective Brancy! Agreed the performers are alot of fun!
Back in the old days we had far larger crowds.

My favourite place on this planet. I've been going since 1978 when it was at Agora. The best place on the pl😅!!!!!!!
CROSSBOWS! The crossbows at Good Shepherd Games are a terrific mix of entertainment and activity! Enthusiastic hawkers and the opportunity to shoot a hydra make this game a MUST each season!
No way can’t believe I have this near my area I’ve always wanted to attend one! Now I can go thanks for the information! 🎉
Still a few more weekends this year!
Do it!!! I'll be there closing Saturday May 18!
These crowds are huge. It used to be a small thing but I can say it is definitely popular
Yeah. And today was a lousy weather day. So it's typically even more crowded
Such a fun tour. Thanks for sharing, Chris. Can't make it this year, but I'll definitely be at the NorCal Ren Faire in October!
Awesome +
Thanks for the info + video!
🤩👍 - Wheres your costume Chris???
ocgirl said I couldn't wear yellow... so I wore black to look more "old-timey" :)

Chief wiggums comment about the renaissance fair and the gazebos will forever ruin those events for me. 😂

Agreed that there really should be another exit.. or a shortcut back to the start! And apparently good princess minds think alike! 😀

Hah! I did see one Stockade 😀. And yes.. I thought you would love this event
You should go to Scarborough in Texas, that or the Texas Renn faire are way better than what is show cased here.

Yeah. It's expensive
I have been complaining about the TRF prices but this made me realize I still had it kind of good! So pricey
Im from wisconsin, when you said $15 for a beer that did physical damage to my soul.
Yeah. I think it's crazy too!
5:27 Of course they do, it’s Cali…😏🤪
17:58 "rogers reef" Haha its Rogues reef 💛

Thanks for the extra tips
I'm surprised i didnt see Chess there. Usually they have it.
$45 entry + $12 parking fee?? Kryst, this fair is only for the elite! 😢

Agreed the admission is quite expensive

$40…Seriously…?
Meh.
