USports does have players in the NHL. It’s not a lot, but Derek Ryan, Logan Thompson, and Luke and Noah Philp. And considering the financial restraints and the restrictions the CHL has put on USports on when they are allowed to talk to players, who they are allowed to talk to, etc. it’s a miracle that they graduate any guys to professional hockey. Which makes what’s been happening the last week or so with all these commitments to NCAA and the corresponding CHL teams celebrating these commitments as a massive slap in the face to the USport programs and coaches who’ve eaten a lot of s*** from agents and CHL teams only to be abandoned now. This is also the first time I’ve heard the CHL is going to eliminate the scholarship packages, I get there is still conversations happening, but the last I heard the CHL would still honour scholarships to kids who go to the NCAA… which is ridiculous because now you have Canadian hockey subsidizing USA hockey.
