Music of Africa: I have known very interesting and nice people in Kenya, some in Nairobi City, some upcountry and some in the interior. It is interesting that those non-native living in upcountry and in the deep interior have assimilated very well whilst those in the cities tend to stay within their own communities and own cultural groups, of course there are few exception but generally that is the case. Almost anyone living upcountry would have good working knowledge of the local language as well as Kiswahili and English as well. Same with the culture and customs. People living in Nairobi tend to be quite insulated and those living upcountry very well assimilated especially those who have lived for multi-generations. Growing up I have been exposed to Kiswahili Music and in fact sometimes enjoy it a lot because I have good working understanding of the language. Here in Canada sonetimes during the weekend, when I am sitting in the back yard on the swing, maybe having a beer, say Saturday afternoon, or evening, or Sunday, I enjoy listening to Kiswahili music which I have heard before. Of course there are so many types of music I enjoy but sometimes I enjoy listening to Kiswahili pop music of my times. When I was in Thika, there was a barber who would play music for me using a big speaker connected to a record player while cutting my hair. He would play different tracks while cutting my hair and sometimes converse about this or that. I have previously heard of the musician he used to play, Mbaraka Mwinsheshe playing in the 1970's and 1980's. I will share a song by the musician.
