Nice! It's satisfying doing things like this. When I got my first boat my brother (who now runs his own fab shop) showed my a very similar way as he made my folding boat roof.

Welds can be "stronger" than the original material even. If you were to run liquid through this you'd need to do a pressure test, and if you use it for something critical I'd make a few test pieces and abuse them past their failure point (or look it up, there's charts and stuff made by lovely lovely nerds ;) ). Welds are usually hard though, and that is what makes a bad weld brittle
