@@MrMetalclay Really good players you can usually really hear the guitar over the effects. They usually play LOUD too so it's a dynamic a TON of players don't get used to to achieve certain tones. I really respect this guy too! I really thought by ear he played a Tele'. Really surprised me actually!
Man, Ian D’Sa is one of my favorite guitarists of all time. He takes the heavy handed catchy riff writing of someone like Tony Iommi and just takes it to another level!
This song is just so fun to play on guitar! Ian is such a great guitarist with such a unique style. Although Billy Talent is hugely popular, he seems to be flying under the radar for many guitar people, though...
Six years too late, but the chords should be something like: Dm/F C#dim/E Dm7 C#dim/E Dm/F Dm7 C#dim Edim Dm7 Or to speak theoretically rational: Dm/F Ⱥ7/E Dm7 Ⱥ7/E Dm/F Dm7 Ⱥ7 Edim Dm7
what a hugely under-rated guitarist
I agree.... this guy is a riff master...
Yup!
he is awesome!
I love how he does all these heavy riffs with a very small amount of distortion/OD.

"This is devil on my shoulder *grabs the devil out of his shoulder* and the intro kinda goes like this"
Lmao!!
This guy is such a genius
AGREE, he makes the most magical riffs. Try honesty is such a masterpiece.
he incorporates those jazzy chords really well for the type of music he plays
Ian D'sa is not allowed to be a fan of anyone. He is too amazing for that.

Absolute guitar god

I love him and his chords ☺️❤
It´s the holy Fender Stratocaster, many other awesome guitarists used or still use, this guitar is legendary
imo his crispy chicken sound is more legendary.. I read somewhere BTIII was recorded woth a fuzzy 72' Deluxe Telecaster

When he really snaps his rist in the verse man that tone is so sick.
He really has found a wicked place to sit with those interesting chords in that style. What a fucken gun
jazz blues rock... alternative... love this dides riffs 🤘🏼
Great guitarist and singer!
Such an underrated guitarist . Makes so many nasty riffs ❤🔥🔥
Those chords, Bah so good!
"jazz chord but played with punk rock" What could possibly go wrong?
0:02 Ian: ´Devil on my shoulder´ (touches his shoulder) :D
Is this his hair or a hat?
hair
thank you! I was expecting some person do say "uh, it's a hat dudeee"
Uh, it's a hat dudeee
He uses Soul Glo
rusted from the rain's vocal line kind of follow the guitar riff as well lol.
So does Fallen Leaves. I was going to say it's one of their trademarks, but apparently Ian disagrees. :-D
hes amazing
his right hand is locked the hell in
One of the great mysteries of my life so far is: how the hell does Ian get a hat on over his hair? :)
My hero!!!
dat riff
Thanks TH-cam for recommending this 8 years later
Now I know why BT have such a unique sound :L jazzy type chords in punk :) that explains it :L
I’ve never heard this man miss a note
Yes he's actually never missing one
Pretty underrated guitarist
0:42 ok my turn
*Im a big fan of Ian D'sa from Billy Talent*

Did somebody else hear "worker bees" in between? At about 0:55 0.0
Just think, Ian can play that riff for hours on end if he has to,
Real magic starts at 1:11
What's that 2nd chord shape? Most places say it's as below, but he's not fretty the 6th fret.

But you might choose to mute the G, I've seen that on some tabs. Either way sounds good.
Ian D'sa and Kim Thayil two of the greatest Indian guitarists.
Why does it matter that they are Indian? They’re just great guitarists all in all. Fucking racist
it might be Worker Bees. Sounds very similiar to me
Goosebumps in a nutshell
What song does Ian play at 0:46?

wow....
Look how fast he is moving is fingers
Like an Ian!
Ians got some hard compression going on
Please, someone help me,which chords Ian play at 0:46,thanks

Check out my cover + the extended live solo from itunessession of this awesome song! :) Hope you like it!
Worker Bees !
dat guitar
reminds me a lot of "Living in the Shadows" intro
Its called Worker Bees
Worker Bees?
gotta wonder. :P
He's using very heavy gauge strings, eh?
@1:40 you're welcome
"riffyness"
I wish the camera man captured the other side of his hands.
sounds like worker bees
sounds a bit like worker bees
Maybe Worker Bees...
the hat is made out of his hair
I hate these guitars with endless tuning, because every song from BT needs Tuning Drop D
Not too hard to do though just ring oud your d string and get the e to sound the same
sounds a bit like worker bees
