- An Adventure In Making an 1896 Outfit pt. 4 the Shirtwaist, or Blouse
You don't have to have seen any other parts to view this one! :)
In Part 1 I made a pair of Victorian Combinations.
The Second part was the Victorian Corset, and ast time I made a Walking Skirt!
I made this Victorian / Edwardian Shirtwaist Blouse using my 1896 Singer sewing machine. I used the Truly Victorian Countryside Blouse pattern, as it was the most similar to what I wanted, this style was widely popular from the end of the 1800s to the beginning of the 1900s as more and more women entered the workforce. It was an important point in fashion history as working class women, not the aristocracy, were shaping the trends.
I delve into how to do insertion lace for a blouse and how to achieve the correct shape.
This video was made to support a workshop I'm holding, but I'm hoping that if you are wanting to make your own shirtwaist or Nobby Blouse, this slightly more in depth than usual video will inspire you!
