I enjoyed listening to your story about how you first met people who were Deaf, and how you were scared but approached the group anyway, and I also did the same thing, LOL..I was able to slowly sign my name..., and that's when a whole world opened up that I have been honored to be included in.
I am trying to learn ASL but I am having a hard time with the sentence structure, I practice but probably not as much as I should because I have no one to practice with and to scared to. You are lucky to have people to help you.
Amanda Ross I'm in the same situation and I understand how frustrating it is.. I practice when ever I have time and it still is really hard to put together sentences.. I have a deaf friend but she can hear and talk to me so it's hard to do sign language with her and I'm scared to start talking to her in sign language because I don't want to get something wrong and for her to laugh at me... I want to be an interpreter when I'm a bit older and I'm 15 so I thought I should start to learn now so in the future I can interpret for other people and help them out...and it's so hard to practice when I'm not in a deaf environment
I has a cochlear implants and knew ASL. I'm a fans of Amanda's Deaf role model who knew ASL and CI user. I don't like Marlee Matlin at all. She is snobbish. Amanda is the Champion!!!! Go Amanda!
