The fact that is mostly passive with springs and only the computer needs charging in the legs is huge. It solves a lot of issues that could arise from using motors and having to charge units.

It's meant to improve your ability to work in relaxed conditions for extended periods of time with less strain and risk of injury. The military is researching into (presumably) powered variants that would supplement the strength and speed of soldiers and Marines in the field.
@SCP 096 dont worry, America, Russia, and I think China are researching these suits for combat use. There is even a video of Russia showcasing these suits in a convention. Same with the U.S.

This is a mechanics dream come true, especially working under cars rather they be on a lift, or stands. Holding heavy parts and tools with this would save a lot of wear and tear on the human body.
Especially when a tech is on light duty due to injury; less stress when working, faster heal time and still can do some work.

This, very much. I have a newfound appreciation for mechanics who are working under vehicles after trying to install some step-rails on my truck for the first time ever. Just laying back and lifting your arms up holding a heavy duty 3/4" ratchet while trying to bolt things in was more strenuous on my body than I ever thought it could be.
Well, it won't be much of use when you have to lie down on a roll bed, because as i saw for armX there are parts that stick out. So it mostly will help only when you can lift the car above you so you won't have to lie down...
I worked as an aircraft mechanic for 16 years. Pretty much every one of my joint is shot. This suit, if used by people in my field will help avoid my demise. I would use all of them if I could afford to from 15 k

@@jtnelson1803 The force in throwing a spear isn't raw power, it's torque. A 2 pound spear has more kinetic energy than a 5 pound spear. You can crack a mammoth's bones with a 6-ounce atatl dart where the majority of power comes from wrist rotation. If you had to be super strong to use one, they wouldn't be very effective for hunting, because no human being can physically out muscle a steppe bison.

@Grape Soda Yes and no. Computers are a bad example as its only electrical. Electrons flowing through wires and components. For example the spring on the legs mention in the video. Can not be made smaller. The piston that are locking the arms also cannot be made smaller. As you need a set poundage.
14k is surprsingly low. I think most companies wouldn't mind looking into this for $14k, when it significantly lowers medical bills/work performance.

@@GunslingerRose lol dude grow up some more. The military version has been quoted plenty of times as giving soldiers they ability to pick up things they wouldn't normally be able to. You also must not know much about guns the heavier a gun the harder it is to accurately stand and stood, which is why snipers and machine guns are uasally mounted. They even said in this video they would allow soldier to run faster and have less fatigue. It's a weapon man anyone with half a brain, knowledge on firearms, or understanding of how much shit soldiers carry would instant that. It's a weapon that enhances every attribute of a soldier.

Yep. Passive load-bearing is the way to go. You don't need power assist for anything, really.

This exoskeleton is -mechanical- reactive (the middle between passive and active), which means that the suit shares the user's limits (normally). Since It's not powered, it doesn't add strength, it will just help with endurance.

@@Lockheed35ait this exoskeleton just disperses the stress that you experience by directing it to the ground (the leg module) or directing it to a higher surface area (arm module), the other one directs the stress from your back to your legs. Think screwdriver
Powered exoskeletons (usually cervos) take the load right off you (like the one above) but can lift/handle higher loads and you won't feel it. Think of an electric drill, I think they also use servos
The downside to powered exoskeletons is that they need an energy source, and that limits how long they can be used

Just hope the airlines or cinemas don't get hold of these device, cause they will no longer provide expensive and heavy seats; just a leg -exoskeleton for everyone and make it look as if they are actually sitting. Clever developers. If anything it will help protect muscles and health in general from overuse injury RSI etc and help the poor workers. Great great. Makes you feel good.

My mother suffers from a rare neurological disease called MSA where she is basically bed ridden. No balance, Loss of Strength.. this could really help massively with her disability.. however it would need to be self balancing. Amazing Job hope this comes to market ASAP

These things can help soldiers hold their weapons for a very long time and lift heavy weapons as if they are nothing, I think it also will enhance combat prowess plus the person's already agile and strong body just like in the military, we'll have supersoldier in the near future

Very cool stuff. Still very specialized but since it's made for repetitive strain and isn't designed in a way that will require electricity to move, it makes sense.
I'm sure it'll take a while for prices to be reasonable for most cases but I imagine a distant future where you can get the "Chair Anywhere" jeans for $50
Yeah this is the future, and it's here. 2 - 5 years and we will have found a way to manufacture these like we do with cars. drasticlly lowering the cost ^^ 50 Dollars might be stretch but i dont see why these coudent cost 200 dollars. and maybe 1000 for the top of the line ones.
(people that have money, invest in these kinds of companies now, it's going to be making a huge return soon)

As a physical therapist I have worked with hundreds or maybe thousands of patients who could seriously benefit from something like this not only for occupational safety and assist but also for daily activity with impaired individuals. Please mass produce these and I hope you can get insurance companies on board!

glad i found this video. This kind of gear would be GREAT for people who get tired standing for hours on an assembly line. Especially that leg support / chair. I used to work retail clerk on my feet for 8 hours walking and standing. would have been nice to have leg hip support device to relieve the strain on my feet. since the device would handle most of the body weight as i stood. Would love to see if similar devices are out there there for just standing and walking all day. I'd bet people who stand 8 hrs or more on their feet would also feel the same. here's to the future! cheers!

Lower back muscle activation is one of the worst parts of lifting loads from the floor or lowering them onto a pallet. It's fine if you're only doing it for an hour or two, but if you're doing that for 12 hours, 4 days a week, you've got yourself a significant problem.
It over trains your lumbar spine and causes what is known in the bodybuilding world as "a pump", which is basically when blood saturates the muscle and makes it temporarily larger than it normally is (which is fine for most muscles, but not ok for the lumbar spine). This just gets worse and worse throughout the day and impairs your ability to work safely because it puts your spine out of alignment and everything feels tight, increasing your risk of spinal injury, compared to just doing it for an hour or two. People can say "practice good technique then" all they want but those people have never worked as an agency worker in a fast paced factory, where the factory can just replace the worker in one shift if the worker gets an injury. Some of these factories' owners don't care at all whether someone gets an injury, they are just replaceable agency workers in their eyes.
**Edit** They allocate their agency workers according to how much one person is physically capable of doing rather than what a worker is capable of doing safely. They hire fewer workers than is actually needed for those workers to work in a safe manner. Time is an issue and you don't have enough time to perform the lifts safely because there aren't enough workers to take up the slack when you're fatiguing, so they just have to work on, regardless of the pain and increased risk of injury.
A 66% reduction of lower back muscle activation is highly significant and would certainly see fewer injuries and fewer agency workers being left sat at home with a bad back and no income.
When the price of these suits comes down, If I had the power to enforce such a rule, I would make it mandatory to provide these suits to all agency workers that work lifting or lowering loads repeatedly, if they wish to wear one.
I volunteered for only a few days at the Salvation Army doing heavy lifting.
My back was completely out of energy a few days in and I had to take a 2-week break.
I can't imagine anyone doing that crap for a living.

I work in television production and had immediately thought of it's infinite uses in the industry; I'm glad you showed the camera op. testing it out. Are the arm and back pieces quiet enough for a boom operator to wear while rolling?

Well if you did interface with the bones and nerves directly then you could do incredible things, it's just a tad painful and possibly deadly because of infections.
